I vote for the outside stone to be in the gun room on the bottom 3-4'. Maybe add some directional lighting to showcase the guns on the walls. Great video guys.
This comment here 👌👌
I agree 100%
Yep I'm team stone.
Stone with some rustic wood as a frame around it would look like a Colorado lodge style
@@devinwerf1189 I was thinking stone with a concrete or stainless "build bench" top.
Brad Do some research and look up Kingsman style walk-in gun safe . remember the rack system that he has can always be powder coated to match it doesn't have to stay the industrial Gray.....
I say scratch that and fill it with clear glass showcases then up top do red and black walls with reclaim going down the hallways and black granite flooring
Man Cave - Horizontal Whitewashed Wood for the partition wall. Or Modern Abstract wood design and paint the wall & wood design an accent color.
Gun Room - Stone with Butcher block countertops.
On that ledge in the vault why not install a top at work bench hight and the space between the ledge and the top put in some drawers and since the work bench will need to be deeper than the foot or so the ledge is add a foot in depth the put shallow cabinets which can be used to store ammo. And use metal the same color as the peg board system.
About the Gun safe....on the lower part where talking about putting metal....My not build a step/seat...with maybe a area to add a gun vice where you can clean your weapons...that big of area...you could keep the oil smell out of the rest of the house..Just a thought. use a metal pole...weld on a small vice to hold your weapon....fix a hole in the floor to stand it in...oh...you then can raise the lid to the seat/step...more storage...
Spend some money on a portable sawmill and get beefcake construction to get some live edge wood boards from the ranch to go around the glass doors in the man cave! Might need to kiln it but whats 6-8 weeks. I would also run the wood vertically, giving the impression of a taller roof and not as cramped. Or at least I see it that way.
How about herringbone for the wood planks in the man cave, especially for a accent wall i think would look nice.
That would like nice!
The house and Brad/ Andrew friendship development has been fun to watch!!
Stone matching the outside of the house would make the gun room look like it was planned from the beginning.
Someone already suggested making a workbench over the top of that ledge.
Then smaller drawers would fit there to store ammo as they said.
Having a workbench against the wall instead of a table in the middle would take up much less floor space.
This is the best recommendation imo, the stone will bring it all together and the work bench is definitely something needed in that area to help maximize the usefulness of the space
Yep, I’d go stone, and maybe put a concrete countertop on the ledge
For the gun room, you could do a wainscoting with clear or gray stained wood. Rout our a channel to back light with LEDs pointing towards the center through frosted plexi. The center color can be picked out by the interior decorator.
Hey Brad. For flair secret door for his, gun room. If you haven't already look into a Murphy Door. They are made where I live in utah. And its exactly what flair is looking for.
Oh? Thanks 👍. I will look into that ❤️
@BRAD and Flair. Hey guys, nice to see the house again. For the office Id go horizontal reclaimed wood, maybe even add different depths like at the cabin. As for the gun room have you thought of diamond plate materials. If you want swat team then lets go full out swat. You can get the plating in a variety of colors and it would look great with the guns and the back board for mounting. That way also if you need trim you can do steel or have it sprayed to whatever color you want. That way you can always get BUX or DUX black metal cutouts and put some lighting behind them and hang them up above. You can always hang steel targets with lighting behind it or put some cabinets in for ammo and scopes, and all the other goodies. Also i know youre thinking of a bookcase, but instead of just 1 book or whatever, why not make it a series of things, that way people cant find it by mistake. You also may like this idea or you might not, but you know how the silo has that space where they would have to intercom, perhaps a ring doorbell would work well that way you can always see who is accessing it, you can use it as a panic room should the need arise, and id suggest NOT doing the traditional bookcase as they have become quite common. Maybe do a double bookcase that opens in the middle to the vault door that way you can put the bookcases on a track locking system which would lock in the center but open like two french doors sliding along the wall. There are many ideas out there and on pinterest etc, so im sure youll find the one that best suits you and your home. I hope you guys can get the leak fixed in the gun room without it being too much of a headache. I am curious about 1 thing though and please note I have no idea about roofs or really building in general. BUT my question is in regards to the spray insulation, do you still have to insulate the underside of the roof at all??? Or does that stuff take its place etc??? Reason im asking is because my uncle said you could always tell if you had good insulation in the winter time as you could see how the snow was on your roof and how it either stayed or melted, was he pulling my leg or is that a real thing???
I’m going to look into the diamond painting like you guys suggested to see if that is something Flair would be interested in!
Yes, if the snow is melting off the roof that means you’re losing heat through the attic and that’s not a good thing! But also the sun will heat up the roof and cause melting too! 🎺
@@BradtheBuilder Thank you for always answering my questions. I was raised with both my dad and grandfather stating the only stupid question, is the one that isnt asked. Always ask your questions and be a sponge and absorb the information. Thank you again Brad.
@@RyanRyker your dad and grandpa are very smart 👍🎺
Lightly distressed black metal with horizontal rivets space 4" apart would look absolutely killer. If you want to go over the top add in diffused footlights at the base that are flush with the floor colored either dim red or green that would give a "military prep room" vibe. These lights could be set on a switch that powers on when the door is opened. Just make sure to have an industrial floor to match and you will be set).
Horizontal definitely. Up and down looks like old interior siding.
Same stone as the outside in the gun room with wood trim and make that ledge a nice shelf for small taxidermy and other shooting related nick nacks. Plenty of directional track lighting.
Great progress on the house, Brad. As you said, things start going faster towards the end. 👍🎺
Maybe so animal hide on the walls for the gun room to take up some wall space. Cow, deer etc
My only thought about finishing the bottom 1/3 of the wall in the gun safe is this (and I know nothing about gun rooms, admittedly): If Andrew will be using that ledge as a surface to work on, stone may not be all that comfy on the knees if he has a stool he's sitting on to work on his guns. I agree that even some shallow 5-6" deep drawers would be good for ammunition storage. If he won't be using this space to sit at and work, then stone (shallow - not 4" deep stone) would look great.
If he IS going to be sitting there working on his guns, then I like the idea of the flat acid-washed metal with rivets and wood along the floor (and maybe the top where it meets the ledge) would be a really interesting look. It is his room and while repetition of theme is great, I think once you are in that room, it should be Andrew's. The rest of the house is well designed, and decorated, etc. so I kind of feel like it should be something he'll be proud of.
As I said, I know nothing about gun rooms, so this could be a very silly reply/comment. If I've missed the mark completely, that's my bad, lol.
Heather🇨🇦
Stone is the cohesive choice. Any type of metal would look cheap. Ask Macey that would be your best bet.🙏🏼❤️
👍❤️🎺
You two will make great neighbors can't wait to see both houses built
Thanks 👍
Bring the stone in on the lower wall with a live edge slab around the top of the curb fallowed with the gun racking system then top the wall with a 3’-4’ band around the top to hang mounts from
I really like the stone walls for bellow the ledge idea and then maybe have some mat black metal cover for the ledge and maybe even like wood facia on the upper walls but only the ones that won't be covered by the gun racks so they are only an accent and not the whole upper part of the room
I think Flair would be happy with an all black and steel (metal) gun room. Make the top of the shelf a glass case for handguns. Design his logos on the bottom wall. Make work benches on both sides *Focus on making the lighting special*
Showcase Dux season on one side where the stairs are and Bux season on the other side
I vote the outside stone. You are already bringing it into the inside fire place walls. That makes the most sense to keep it consistent.
Thanks!
I would go with the stone in the gun room. I like the look of stone for some reason. The house is coming along nicely. Can not wait for early 2023 when it get completed.
Me Too!
An option instead of peg board would be that Menards has a wood grained slat board (SKU: 1363171) that's similar to the upstairs cabinets. Slat board gives you more leeway on where you place items. I have slat board in my gun room and really like it. One concern about stone on the bottom is the possibility of a gun would make contact with it, there could be some damage to the gun.
For the bottom of the gun room I would paint the walls and then install something like a French cleat system. Put a workbench top over it that overhangs a little bit. Paint the French cleat boards dark possibly black or a dark grey to keep more of the industrial feel. The French cleats would give you the ability to hang small storage bins off the wall to house ammo or spare parts for your firearms. But it would still give you the ability to rearrange as needed. So if you're at the workbench doing some maintenance you can grab the bins that have the parts or tools you need and position them closest to you. A similar approach would be to use the same peg board as up top and just have a live edge slab for your workbench top. Either way you get configurability and extra storage. I know it's a wall not a ceiling but a third idea might be to put your workbench top on and then mount the hex lighting like Matt used in the ceiling of the Demo Ranch vault. Especially if you could dim the lights that would definitely draw attention to that wall when you walk in.
I would do herringbone pattern on those accent walls. For the gun room, an idea would be the metal racking, but with rough wood like 1x4 picture frame trim. You can carry that trim down to the bottom part with the metal and picture frame as well, you're going to have to trim that too. then it would kind of blend the modern warehouse wall look with a rusticish industrial look.
I like the Reclaimed Wood, or I like one Comment I read to use Aluminum Diamond Plate. Flair didn`t seem to take the leak bad. Enjoyed it Brad
Lmao, reclaimed wood, just add it to the bill 😂😂😂😂
Without a doubt go with the stone, with the gallowtech wall panels you can also get them coated a different color! You might really be making the room feel smaller by doing gray toned rock with gray toned walls.
I like the rock idea.
In the gun room paint the wall the same color or something close to the hanging system. Then use angle iron to trim it and rebar vertically to give it that tactical look and then cap the top with a butcher block for a work space.
Absolutely awesome video do stone
Thank you! Cheers!
Definitely Stone. That would bring in the same character and feel as the rest of the house. You should also put built in lights on the stairs!
Been doing drywall for 25 years, there is no reason in a high end house like that should your drywall guy allow it to get cold enough to crack. He should have left heaters on the site until it was cured enough to not crack. It's just a bad look taking the homeowner on a walk thru and he has to see cracks before the place is painted. Other than that the house is really starting to look great!
Ammo cabinets (6" deep) down low in the gun safe, that would give you a proper base for armors bench
👍 i like it
Awesome job on the whole build of the house a nd garage. I think you should use stone on the face of that room. Keep up the beautiful job you are doing. Stay safe a nd be well. Have a good one. Bob
Bitchin!!
I like the stone idea
For the gun room , recclaimed wood strips , horizontally mounted . Skip each other row and have the whole accent feature back lit with LEDs, very modern swatty secret weapon Flair . The top should be frosted plexiglass also back lit so it can shine up on the gun wall
👍
Flair u need bear elk and moose love to see those hunts
I would say diamond plate or put the stone and paint the stone black. I don't think the stone color would mesh well with the other stuff in the gun room. Another option is cedar tongue and Grove and also put a workbench right there.
Rustic metal on the bottom in the gun room, reclaimed barn wood on the shelf/ top of the metal. Black peg board/ slat board for the guns, matching barnwood above the peg boards for the mounts, light strip underneath of the barn wood to give the guns some pop
That would look good too!
in the gun room build small cabinets on the bottom that you can also stand on then its multi function it gives space to store ammo and cleaning gear plus something you can stand on to reach higher up guns easier
I think diamond plate cuz you can go with the aluminum color or you can go with black and then put wood trim around the top like a cherry wood
I think for the Gun Room aluminum diamond plate
The middle area should have either
A: a pop up “rise” from the floor “show gun” area.
OR
B: a “glass” show case for the BMG and other Nice/expensive guns?
Stone on the wall of the gun room and do a live edge wood countertop above it on the ledge. Something that would be useful and interesting to reach up to the top of the ceiling (if the guns are going up that high) would one of those old school sliding library ladders on a track.
I like it! 👍🎺
You could go with a air craft hanger look in the safe.
3:26 “wursh” 😂 I remember my grandma sayin that
I think that’s where I got it from 🤔
Smooth metal with rivets like the side of swat van paint it black
Here in New England we use temporary heating system this time of the year. Keep the contractors happy
Making it look like a couple ATA Flight Cases would be neat. With all the aluminum pieces covering the corners. Then could stamp all flairs different brands with block letters like they are marking each case. Think band equipment and how they are cased. Just an idea that could go well with the industrial peg board design.
Rock in gun room and vertical the boards in man cave ! It’s looking good !
Stone would look great. Make it look like a cave and the gun racking is the industrial part.
I like the flat steel with rivets. Industrial look like a police evidence locker kinda look. I would even give the steel plates a rusted look with some vinegar and then a clear matte finish.
In the gun room put real cabinets in so flair has a place to display, prep or work on his pews. This would add storage for thing that are maybe not so aesthetically pleasing to the eye. You could do something where he could walk up onto to reach any high place pews or mounts.
Stone in the gun room!
Stone for sure and I'm not an interior designer either but that's what I'd say
The horizontal design with reclaimed wood seems like a great idea. If it was vertical it would clash too much with the exterior design.
Awesome episode Brotha Brad 🫡! I’d say go with the stone so it has that rockery/quarry type feeling, or maybe an industrial theme. Not the corrugated look, but more of a Swat Team ammunition’s room vibe! My 2pennys. Yes please, you & Flair make an episode of the patch work if you may. Keep the 🔥🔥 content coming Sir 👊🏼😎🤙🏼🎺🎺
You got it! 👍
That is a great idea to bring the stone in from the outside to the gun room and to use some reclaimed wood to make it look like the front porch or the back porch to but like you Brad to accent the mounts that come in that would look awesome
Thanks!🎺
Wood and the stone look good
I think you should have a U shaped desk that flows around that waist high curb in the gunroom. It would be perfect for a gun smiting area just make sure you can still reach the guns on the wall.
Having stone in the gun room would look awesome but once you start running out of space you really wont want to hang more racks over top of it and even though it is lower it would be a good spot for say hand guns and such. Just ask Demo when about how fast you can fill up that room. i do like the idea of the straight sheet metal with rivets it would look cool still and if you ever have to cover it up its not like cover good expensive stone work.
Good point! There’s a lot of additional space on the left and right areas going up the steps
knotty pine on the accent walls will look really good and give it a cabin vibe
Gun room, run the gun mounting panels floor to ceiling instead of a different accent on the bottom.
Use upper 12in cabinets on that section. Would make about a 24in countertop
for the walls maybe horizontal on the first few feet then some sort of beam or something else you can set stuff on then above the beam go verticals or just paint it above
👍❤️
I love your house flair and I was soo excited to see what brad did for insulation! I have to say I think brad needs to call me because from what I’ve seen he doesn’t like things half assed lol
Oh? 🤔
Doesnt** like things half assed
Sorry I love what you guys are doing!
@@rkendald All Good! 👍
I vote black versetta stone for the Gun safe. And just to be difficult how about a hering bone pattern with the wood in the man cave to match the ceiling!
I would use reclaimed barn boards ran at a 45 in the gun room
Use stone base with metal with wood trim also wood wall Accents for mounts
Go with a different stone in the gun safe. Make the room look expensive and important. I would prefer marble. Something that is easy to clean. Makes the room look cool and high end and also brighter. You don't really want to go SWAT style because you know you are going to outgrow it in a few years.
Black diamond plate sheets would set that wall off! Good luck keeping the women out of the decision! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks! I need all the luck we can get 😜🎺
Id build up the ledge a foot or so to do a bar height table in the bottom U of the gun vault then have each side where the stairs go up be done in reclaimed wood with gun racks to hold all the pews and the bottom u can be a hangout/gun cleaning and work station.
Put a wrap around work bench in the gun safe on that wall with the drawings overhang it about 6-12 inches over the cement then you could either put that peg board material under the work bench with 6-12 inches of clearance for hanging stuff on the peg board or you could put shelves beneath the work bench perfect for ammo cans and magazines
👍
Brad can you surprise Andrew with a personalized painting of Austin in a fancy Robert
Robe**
I would put in diamond plate. Kinda gives the industrial look of metal without being too "farmhouse". It would also look good with the wall system you have planned. What about carbon fiber sheeting? House is looking great so far!
That could be an option🤔. Good ideas👍
Need to make sure the Mitsubishi minisplits are inverter series so they have the ability to defrost and heat at -25f.master hvac tech diamond dealer for Mitsubishi. Love the channel
Thanks Chris for the tip ! 👍
And you gotta do the hexagon grid lights on the ceiling. They look so bad ass
Add shallow shelving below for ammo with a stainless or concrete counter top. Space to work on guns.
Herring bone pattern on the man cave wall
Do the stone! That feels like the bat cave
Brad just wants to clean out his storage trailers with all tht re-claimed wood he can charge you extra for. its a gun room and you will always buy more guns and need more "room" in the room. put the same rack system below as you would above and give Brad the pleasure of selling a nice accent reclaimed wood shelf....
Okay thinking about it since Brad has an unclaimed wood do black diamond plate do the burnt wood finish with a shine and a Polish on that wood would be epic
That's cool flair gets to hang out with his dad!
Do you think I’m Flairs Dad??🤔
i think the stone with flairs pew pews is the metal as a acsent in the stone
Horizontal on both walls in the man cave. Full stop. Vertical would look terrible with those ceilings
Check out Black colored GenStone or Black colored NovikStone for the bottom part of the gun room. Still keeps the stone look but black will go better with the grey peg board color for the gun rack
That would like good
@@BradtheBuilder I wish I lived closer. I’d love to be apart of your team on designing these houses and helping run crews
Stone for the gun room. House looks amazing.
You should go with the rock for the gun room except use a darker color rock to get the best way to describe it “Batcave” feel which I believe would look awesome.
Flair should talk to demo for ideas on the gun room
I think he is…👍
In the gun room I think that hard wood and stone would look amazing 🤩
Could you put cabinets in the gun room that are about 9” deep so he could store ammo and what not out of the way and then have a functional counter top where the cabinets and foundation step meet?
Outside stone would look good
I think some prefinished knotty pine would look badass in the gun safe!
I would use stone in the gun room , but use gray slat that would go with the peg board for the guns
Should do the bottom stone and the top the wood
