    Gday big guy huge thanks to you regarding lythgow 101. After watching your video I ordered shins from lance a piccatiny rail and a lighter trigger spring for my new lythgow 101. Followed your lead and went straight to 5000 shim. Wasn’t impressed so played around up to 7000 👎 then down to the magic number 4000 !!! At 50 yards 5 shots all touching. It’s amazing and it’s all thanks to you. So thank you Sir 🙏 used with Eley match ammo. TAC driver 👍

    Greetings Mr. Elijah. I’ve been watching your channel for a little while now. I just wanted to make an observation re: headspace. I think when you close down your headspace you give the case less room to move rearward in the chamber upon firing. I believe that slight rearward movement takes a bit of energy away from driving the bullet down the bore. Getting rid of that rearward play MAY result in more consistent velocities. You may want to confirm with chronograph readings. Of course too small of a headspace gap will not allow the round to feed and the bolt to go fully into battery.

      @Dayattherange  2 года назад

      Thank you sir I agree great idea time to break out the old chronograph. GREAT IDEA!

    I love it. Go get the man cards !! Nice shooting. BTW, I saw the shootout with Cyclops Joe . His Bergara is gonna be a tough one to beat. I think it would be cool to see a shoot off together. I do believe you are at a severe disadvantage with the wind at your range, and also the target setup. I do enjoy hearing you guys talk some trash. I'm a big fan of both. .. Continued prayers for Mrs LEO. Thank you for the great show.

    It looks like your bolt likes some upward pressure from rounds in the magazine. Lance at Trigger Shims is great to work with!

      @@Dayattherange Some rifles fed from magazines like upward pressure on the bolt to get it perfectly lined up with the cartridge and chamber or it might just be the consistency of some pressure from below on the bolt. You've even commented on the last round out of magazines, and your single loading accuracy indicates that the Lithgow prefers a round left in the mag to supply some upward pressure on the bolt. I've observed this time and again at the range with AR shooters as well. My friend Jim at the range one day could not get a decent 5 shot group at 200 yards, always throwing his last shot out of the group. I gave him a 10 round mag and told him to load 6 but only shoot 5. Result was a beautiful 5 shot group and then the light bulb came on and his eyes lit up. This is something I learned shooting a lot with M16s and M21s in the military. Sua Sponte!

    A bit late, here but my Lithgow 101 does Jam the last bullet on the CZ 10 round magazine, but it depends on the brand of .22 ammo!.

    • @Dayattherange
      @Dayattherange  Год назад

      What's interesting is I converted these 10 round magazine to 15 round magazines with base pads from anarchy outdoors. I know they are setup right but never have been able to get more than 13 rounds in it. If I go with just the 5 round mag or un altered 10 round mag it's smooth.

      It wasn't broke this is an ammo problem. I have measured headspace on different bands of ammo and they are all different in rimfire. The bolt shims bring about better consistency in my view now that I have had a chance to use them.

    Just use a head space gauge. The H&R 12 had that shim feature decades ago.

    • @Dayattherange
      @Dayattherange  2 года назад +1

      Joe I am aware of the go, no go and field headspace gauges that makes sure the rifle is safe to fire but not of any other gauge. Are you talking about the rim thickness gauges? These bolt shims works close to like the shims that come with the lilja barrels allowing you to tune your headspace.

    • @joed3264
      @joed3264 2 года назад

      @@Dayattherange I have several gauges that I use. They look like a steel .22 bullet. I have one field gauge and a .041", .042" and a .043" rim thickness. My Bergara runs .043". The H&R 12 is set at .041" as it likes Lapua/SK. Eley ammo tends to have a thicker rim than Lapua/SK. My Savage runs .044". Surprisingly it is as accurate as the Bergara using Eley Bench Rest Precision.
