Your teacher giving you a Pirastro Korfker shoulder rest was a wonderful gift. I have one and I know the true cost as well as appreciating the real value of owning one. I use a Pedi Steelshield carbon fibre case which is really strong & good. Also try William Salchow rosin, I really love it.
Loved this video! I wish I had more personal items in my case too, but I just can't figure out how to get pictures to stay in place. I actually have a Carmen Bruna viola bag!! I absolutely love it. I'm actually filming a video today about how to protect your instrument in the cold weather and I'm planning on showing it off! It's super protective and really beautiful!
Loved this video! I’m a long time Bam Hightech Contoured user. I think I’ve had mine 5+ years and despite the surface scratches, it’s as good as it was on the day I bought it. Highly recommended! Great video and new sub :)
Melos rosin - low dust, less string noise & hardly need any! I agree about the Evah's. I progressed onto Evah Gold which last a bit better but my most recent set have been Perpetual & have lasted really, really well (nearly 3 years now) & I guarantee you will prefer them to dominants!
The most useful thing in my violin case has to be my clip-on electronic tuner. I don't have expensive tastes, so I recently got me a Glarry violin and I got one that came with an electronic tuner. i stayed away from the ones that came with a pitch pipe instead. Pitch pipes are not as accurate. And I use a micro fiber cloth as well.
I have a metal practice mute but I recently purchased a rubber covered metal practice mute which mutes much better than a rubber mute and gives you a little bit more real violin sound than a fully metal mute does. I own two bam cases a high-tech slim and one of the original silver oblong high-tech from way back and they've held up great. I recently purchased a Gewa Air Prestige case which has some great features inside but the "leather" on the handle peeled off and if you scuff the case it leaves white patches because the material is paper thin. Not being "judgy" but I hope since the recording of this video you've gotten a new case, that's a beautiful violin and should be protected if you have a donation link let me know. Cases are expensive I'm eyeing another BAM Oblong case myself. I just purchased a violin bag from Laimadesign on Etsy today not cheap but I feel like my violin is worth it. Great video!
This information is so helpful, thank you! Unfortunately, funds are still low and I cannot get a new case anytime soon. This one is definitely not protective enough for my instrument so I'm trying to be as careful as possible with it. Please do not feel obligated to send any money, but if you would like to my PayPal is @juliajacobsen1
Bit late but I LOVE Sartory rosin it's in a wooden box. Great mix of dark and light rosin and very low dust. Also totally agree on Evah Pirazzi I have to be the only violinist that hates them they don't last long for such an expensive string. I prefer Larsen Cannone and Virituso last longer Also the D'ADDARIO KAPLAN much brighter than EP.
@@JuliaJacobsen You're welcome! I love sartory and it works well with many brands of strings and you don't have to use a lot. I've used Andrea viola solo as well but sartory is a lot cheaper. Since you normally use Vision Solo you should try regular Vision and D'Addario Zyex (similar to dominant but more projection) they are a bit cheaper than Dominant but have brightness close to EvahPirazzi. D'Addario Vivo is MUCH HIGHER than Evah Pirazzi and last longer. There's also Warchal. But if you want solo strings I liked D'addario Kaplan Vvio You're in USA right? If you buy from Southwest Strings and Shar music you get points which can be used as money off for stuff. I had so many points I got my CodaBow 1/2 the retail price!
Thx this video was awesome and really helpful! I have a question: I currently use dominant Strings on a french early 19th century violin, would switching to each pirazzi be a Good option?
It really depends on the instrument! I'm currently experimenting with lots of different types, including Dominants and Evah Pirazzis. I think dominants are good for times where you don't have many performances or aren't practicing much. If you practice a lot, Dominants may get dull fast. However, Evahs sometimes don't last very long either. I really enjoy Vision Solos and Vision Solo Titaniums. They last a while, are at a decent price, and work well with my instrument. I encourage you to experiment with several different types because what sounds good on my instrument may not sound good on yours. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions! :)
@@jameschristiansson3137 quite a few years ago I got to see him, Stanley Clark, & Al Di Meola in concert. They had released a joint album together - "Rites of Strings" I believe was the title. It was great to see all 3 artists, but the album music was softer, lighter than I thought.
Nice video! :) In my violin case I always have also something for tie my hair (you know, maybe it’s windy or you got nervous or whatever can happens) and a pack of wet wipes (it can happen that I eat something and I hate the feeling the alcoholic gel leaves on my hand before playing...) I suggest you to add them 🖤🖤 (I’m sorry for any linguistic mistakes but I’m Italian)
Im also wondering... Why most or majority female violinist show whats in their violin case than male violinist, i estimated that 90% of the female Violinist show whats in their Violin case that males 10%.... why?????? This is kinda weird.... Can someone explain this to me?🤨🤔🙄
You're totally right! I'm not sure about that. There's not a lot of male violinists on RUclips that create similar content to me (besides maybe TwoSet). I would love to see more guys' violin cases!

Yes, it was the kindest gift! She was such a wonderful teacher. And thank you for the recommendations! I'll definitely check them out!
Loved the fact that there actually was a violin in the violin case
you found out my secret!!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it Elizabeth!! And I’m happy hear that you love those violin bags (I want it more and more!!)
Rosin, colofonia in italian with the stress on the i, pronounced as ea
Oh I've never heard the Italian name for it! Thanks for the pronunciation explanation
Medical alcohol swabs to clean the strings. Tweezers to help change strings. Toothbrush for the bow. You can get them at any drugstore.
Hi. I just bought my first violin. I found your video to be helpful. Thank you.
I'm so glad to hear that! Congratulations on starting the violin!

I'm glad to hear you've had a positive experience with Bam!! It further solidifies my desire to get one myself. Nice to meet you Mary! :)
For rosin, you should try Cecilia (Andrea) Sanctus rosin! In combines two parts of rosin and its absolutely amazing. I use it myself too.
Yes I've heard lots about Cecilia rosin! Definitely high on my list of rosins to try

Take a look at the Musafia Enigma case. Extremely protective. You won't regret it. Try Satory rosin, very smooth and very grippy.
Thank you so much for the recommendations!! I’ll definitely look into them!
@@JuliaJacobsen Good luck with your music studies young lady. I have a degree in performance 🎶
Thank you!

Love your content! If you haven´t, could you make a video for beginners. Like: How to get started, how to hold the violin, wich song to practise etc
I'll add it to the list! Thank you for the suggestion Evelina!

Can you play Jean Luc Ponty, or Michael Urbaniak? 😁
I love Jean Luc Ponty's instrumental of the song Cono. But alas, he's playing a 5 string violin.

That is SUCH a good idea!! Definitely adding these to my case if I can find some space 😅
What size or yours I’m getting one tomorrow and I’m so excited !
My violin is a 4/4 size, if that’s what you’re asking! :)
@@JuliaJacobsen it was indeed thank you♥️
For rosin: Evah Pirazzi Gold
I actually just ordered those exact strings from Shar! I’m so excited to try them!!
I have that same small music book
That's awesome! I love that thing
Do all the contents you want
I will, thank you!
Subscribing because I also attend USC :D
Awesome!!
"WHAT INSIDE MY VIOLIN CASE?"
"VIOLIN CASE"
Nice content
Haha, I gave you exactly what I promised!
highlighter, metronome, korg tuner, mask just in case.
I didn't even think about keeping an extra mask in my case! Definitely doing that from now on
I hate it when rosin sticks too the strings
Me too! I make sure to clean my strings with a cloth daily because it can be so frustrating when it sticks too much.
😘

Melos Rosin
Oooh I should try it. Thanks!
Bach almost had the same face as Haydn
It sure seems like it! It doesn't help that they all wore powdered wigs at the time.
@@JuliaJacobsen The AI renditions of Bach sans wig are interesting to say the least.
