Wow, what a great presentation. Explaining the history of radio as it pertains to us radio amateurs and condensing it all into an interesting 23 minute video. An essential introduction to the background of our hobby for all new hams. Thank you Tim.

That took me back a good many years, I learnt about Maxwell, Hertz and Marconi in School, a lot of the other stuff I learnt when I joined the Royal Signals. It all changed quite a bit when digital and satellites took over.

Very interesting. There's an older gentleman here in our area who was part of the US Army Signal Corps and he tells some very interesting stories. Sounds like it would've been a very interesting branch of the military. Cheers, Karl!

Why nobody talks bout Landell de Moura that transmitted voice over radio waves in 1900?

I think the way he went about filing questionable patents and not including the scientific community in peer reviewing his experiments hurt him.

My dad told me when he was a kid my grandfather had a spark gap transmitter, I have no idea why he had it though.

Probably as a rare keepsake. These days, hundred-year-old spark gap transmitters are hard to find. :)
