This looks more effective and realistic than other videos I have watched.
Most of the others show a guy coming at you with a tomahawk karate chop which doesn't happen in a real street fight 😆 😂 😅
You show punches which is what happens kudos to you 👏

      @RebelPulse
The overhead attack you’ve seen in other video, represents any attack that could come from that general direction, it’s not a specific attack.
(Unless there’s a tanto in their hand, it which case it’s a stab or a cut.)
I’m curious, what do you think happens in a “real fight”?

There's 2 big things that often get Aikido ridiculed but they're actually kinda meaningless. The first is they say it's useless against trained people because no one uses it in MMA. What they actually mean though is it's very un-optimal against people that are extremely well cross-trained at the highest levels. Not that it's not effective against the other 99.9% of people. Because it is. It's supposed to be for self-defense and that means in most cases regular people.
The second is people laugh at a lot of throws where they see opponents comically flipping and rolling themselves over like some kind of slapstick sketch and they call it fake. Some of it might be sure. But a lot of the comical stuff is actually deliberate, the whole premise of countering a lot of throws is that you actually *have* to throw yourself to get out of the lock and prevent breaks. Most people that have never done martial arts always ask how can you flip someone over or throw them by the wrist that makes no sense. Well you're doing it yourself to escape having sections of your limbs broken.... Wrist locks hurt.

The first technique is like jeet kune do i think. BUT In the next moves we recognize some "modified" aikido techniques : the second is like iriminage ura, the third is like sotokaeten nage, the fourth is kokyunage, the fifth is like aikiutushi, the sixth starts with sankyo then turns into rokyo which is prohibited now in aikido, the seventh nikyo then hijidori, the last is nikyo then kotegaechi. Also there is a lot of Tai Sabaki shifts.
Every one can check this humble comparison on the net if he isn't a pro. Very good performance !!

I watched the video a few more times. I recognize all the moves, and they are much closer to Daito-Ryu Aikijitsu, with some Wing Chun thrown in for fun.
But the footwork is definitely not mainline Aikido. O’Sensei trained in the Yagyu Ryu sword school and incorporated its footwork into Aikido.
I started Aikido many years ago and trained at Aikikai for six years. I knew most of the Aikikai Shihan personally and trained with them frequently.
This art would be very effective on the street because of its obvious Daito Ryu ancestry, but like Daito Ryu, it would not be much fun to practice. Daito Ryu, because of its inherent danger, must be practiced in kata form, with little room for free form or improvisation.
Before O’Sensei modified some of the Daito Ryu techniques to prevent serious injuries, his dojo was known as the “Hell Dojo” because of the screams and groans that passersbys would hear.
I am glad that O’Sensei smoothed out the Daito Ryu techniques. In all the years that I have studied Aikido, I have only had a hairline fracture of my right ulna, courtesy of a macho idiot, and a broken rib resulting from a body slam from Chiba Sensei.

That is probably because judo is a sport and boxing isn’t allowed in that sport.

Yes you can look at a technique and say, “that technique is from X martial art”

      1. You have no evidence that they can’t apply these techniques, this is a demonstration of technique, not of practical application.
      2. The assertion that you should be able to force a technique, on someone who is resisting that technique, very much comes from a beginners mindset.
Forcing a technique on someone who’s resisting, is literally wasting energy.
A martial artist who knows what they’re doing, let a technique go, when they meet resistance, and use a technique that their opponent is not resisting.
