    If he's improving by .4 seconds per year, then by the time he's 70, he'll be running the 200 in -.5 seconds. That would be seriously impressive! I've always wanted to see someone run so fast that they go back in time!

    Tebogo runs very similar to Michael Johnson, but lighter and faster.... so anything is possible.
    It's a very efficient running style and minimum energy burned.

    I also think he has a shot at the world record in the coming years, but you should not assume that average progression of .4s/year is going to be sustained. It will must likely be under that average.

    Tebogos 200m improvements
    2021-20.31s
    2022-19.96s
    2023-19.50s
    2024-???
    See how this guy is improving and has broken the world record for the 300m already which was the 2nd 300m in his life
    He wasnt able to beat lyles last yr because he ran the 200m final injured...

    Erriyon Knighton is with him in the 200 so far and is about five months younger so I wouldn't write him off just yet. He beat him for silver in the 200 at worlds last summer but Tebogo was running the double and won the silver in the 100 of course. I think he may get faster but I'm not sure he'll get .40 seconds faster. It becomes harder to make those progressions as you get to that rarefied level.

    @duncanharvey2209 3 месяца назад +2

    The affect of altitude is much greater than that. 2,250m is 0.2 per 100m! 1,300 is 0.06 to 0.1 per 100m.

    That's good for him but I don't know if a world record 300 means he will break the 200 record. I mean for one thing people are still running outside during indoor season? Not many people are trying to race 300 meters. Noah ran it like once, Usain ran it like once, Erriyon never ran it and it goes about the same for all the other top guys. Everyone is racing 200 meters though.

      What? He just appeared in his first major finals at 20 and won a silver in the World Championships 100m and a bronze in the 200m. No other young sprinter, including Usain Bolt can say that at that age. Erriyon Knighton is with him in the 200 but hasn't dipped under 10.0 in the 100 yet so he's ahead of his sprinting peers ,present and past.
