So many people complaining about how they live in their parents and what not. I’m wondering why does that bother you guys so much? Each person has there own story. Bryce has shown videos of people who rent land, have bought there own land or have friends let them park. Whenever there’s a video of someone utilizing there parents property why do people cry in the comments section?

Some of it comes from jealousy, some comes from people that feel they're lying about "doing everything themselves" or are "selfmade debt free", and some people just find small things to complain about because they're bored.
Honestly I fit into the later category more often then I care to admit; but in this case I hope people just admire what was built and see the value in it for that. Maybe you can do something like what was done in this video? Maybe you can find people to help you just like these people did? Take control of your life and don't look down on others because they had help come from a more immediate source.

🗣 Because its misleading. There are actually people who watch this for information because they want to do this. The figures that they are listing are unrealistic to an average home buyer.

So much to L-O-V-E: They are Vegans, they are minimalists and have not crowded their home like some tiny homes; their sustainable business (superb); they are using their academic education to better their lives and the environment; that basin in the bathroom, wow; that loft, so roomy and the birds' nests; how they let each other speak without talking over each other, and yes, having the right parents with LAND! LOL. I have to watch this again when I have more time. So lovely! 😍🌷

@Charlie Vetsworth Vegan or vegetarian, or even just reducing the amount of meat intake in our diets is a huge benefit to the environment and our health. In the US, livestock is the #1 contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, mostly from raising the food to feed the animals before slaughter. From what I've seen and read, being vegetarian or pescatarian can be very healthy and helps lower our impact on the environment, I can't see why being vegan would be any different.

Bryce, you're wondering why you didn't do that when you finished uni? Lol...it's because you've found a way to show us all these wonderful tiny homes...and you're hands down the best...! You've presented some of the best, and this one is one of the best of the best...so open, so well done...this "tiny" area has a very open and spacious feel. The railing is wonderful and the windows are just super for looking out/letting natural light in, even in the bedroom. The whole house is very well designed and decorated as if a top designer did their best. Thanks much for your dedication and excellent choices and interesting and informative interviews...I'm sure many, many thousands would agree...!

Living Big In A Tiny House
Our ancestors lived in tiny houses like small huts made of all eco friendly materials that will be much affordable and nice to live.
I still remember one of you last years episode where one guy was living in wilderness and his house costed only 12 dollars to build. His way of living was nice. That’s how I love to live

Living Big In A Tiny House - if one follows 3Rs ( reduce, recycle, and reuse )that’s the best tip.
      Reduce - minimal lifestyle
Recycle- kitchen waste to soil / composting toilet
Reuse - building with used materials instead of buying new.

@gordy threehorses In Australia these are classed as caravans so all rules relating to caravans apply. You're allowed to keep a caravan on your property when you already have a house as everyone on the property is assumed to be making use of the house (whether they are or not). If you are on a vacant block, you must already have plans to build a house submitted to the council otherwise it's not allowed. Most people are taking advantage of being remote but really it only takes one nasty person to dobb them in to the council......

Another terrific house, and a young couple living their life right! Loved the colours, material, and layout--and not having to do conversion price-wise, since Aus $, NZ $, and Canadian $ are roughly equivalent. But, I was thrown by the height of the loft - surely that was higher than the 13'6" (4.1m) that we North Americans are usually bounded by for road-worthiness? That extra bit of height would make a huge difference in the only drawback tiny houses tend to have...

Great video but would love it if they went (even briefly) into detail about a) how they access/empty compost, b) how they get their clean water/where they put their gray/grey water, c) how/what material they built upon the trailer frame as foundation, d) whether they framed in wood or something else, e) what the floor is made of, f) where they get their electricity, g) what type of permit is needed and what type of build is this considered at the govt (county/shire) level - is it considered a non-permanent, non-dwelling trailer and does that circumvent the permit process? ...and so on. Practical things that viewers could use in their own design. I love the design elements, but I would like to see a balanced incorporation of the functions, systems, permits and build techniques. Including that will help people to take the next step and DIY. I agree, many of us don't have relatives with free land or skills in construction - so that type of info would be helpful imho.

Do you really expect all of that in a 15 minute video? There are plenty of books and online resources if you want the nitty-gritty of how to build a tiny house, and their are adult education courses for learning building skills. Building regulations vary from place to place, so it would be no use to you knowing the legalities for this particular location.

Just a small reminder to people looking to do the same - Just going out collecting wood like that from reserves and national parks is illegal in many states in Australia and if caught you could face fines, so please be careful. Sometimes you might be able to get a permit. Fallen wood is expected to be left to provide habitat for native mammals, reptiles, insects, plants and fungi.

It was super validating because here you are already semi-famous-ish thinking the same thing as I. I can ease up on myself a bit for missing the bus right away in life, seeing someone who has a life that many would call "dream" or "Ideal" shows that things are not always what they seam and that people change, everyone has regrets or things they'd do differently and that journey through the two is called life. RESPECT.

Nothing is. But that's not what this site is about - it's about finding alternative ways to live, using fewer resources and with a smaller footprint. Whether people do that with the help of family and friends (and how many young people can't move out because of lack of affordable housing?), or whether they come to a mutually beneficial arrangement with a landowner, or they can buy the land themselves - it doesn't matter. You can't just copy their method because tiny living is very individual and there's no blueprint.

Beautiful tiny house but this example really doesn't accurately represent land value or council regulations... If I wanted to replicate this in Queensland WITHOUT my parents letting me live on the back of their property I'd have to buy my own land... current rates in the suburbs is about $450k for 400sqm which would still give me a 30 year mortgage but I wouldn't be allowed to put a 'tiny house' on the land, and would rather be forced to build a normal home to meet council requirements

You can't replicate any of the tiny house arrangements (although you can copy their designs) because they are all individual.

Chomsky in the library. good for you! You inspire me.. beautiful home for an amazing low cost.
PS: I have lived in Mexico for 30 years. Here and in many other countries, it is considered totally normal for families to live together or on the same land and to help each other out whenever possible. As long as everyone is being responsible, what would be wrong with that? Seems intelligent, practical and loving to me. In the US and other Western cultures people suffer from too much cold individualism. Then they have the cost of antidepressants added in to the mix

Everyone is talking about how they are on their parents land, but no one is talking about the fact that most of the time the only way you can get a permit to build a tiny house is as a secondary structure on land with an already existing house. Or you have to make it road-worthy to be able to claim it is a trailer and even then, many places have restrictions on what size a trailer can be and for how long it can be in one place, etc. etc.

There is another channel called "tiny house tours" and the thumbnail was a girls ass behind the sink . way to keep the integrity of what living free is all about. It's not just the houses that keep you're audience but the people who build them and share their lives with you. Great channel

Have to say this to me is the most attractive of ALL the Tiny Homes I have seen anywhere. There is another which I love in OZ which you showed, but this one just seems to be almost as delicious as chocolate! lol... So great. Their ideas, colors, plants, creativity. Beautiful job. Would love to know the name of their clothing company. Love they are into that. Plus they seem a very harmoneous pair. Great video. Loved it all.

Pretty ironic that he’s talking about not getting sucked into trends yet they build a tiny house which time will tell is just a trend.

I wish there were videos that showcase a couple with no building skills or family with building skills. There’s a common theme of tiny homes where they have a parent that helps them build it. I want to see a start to finish for first timers that gives me more hope to have one of my own

This couple really show you than in some cases you should not use a contractor because they are extremely high. Tiny homes used to be under $25,000 or less. It is insane how tiny homes are becoming so expensive these days. You might as well buy a regular home if you're going to pay $50,000 and up.

They seem like such a sweet couple. It's easy to criticize people who have access to resources, like the parents' free labor and land. But choosing to utilize their parents' land is the most eco-conscious decision they could make, rather than taking up space on another private property. Remember they don't have to live like this. They have degrees and could get a mortgage on a brand new 4-bedroom house. So I say good for them for staying true to their beliefs on low environmental impact.

A lovely tiny house and sweet couple.... But : "people feeling the pressure of mortgage debt and nine-to-five jobs when we really don't have to.....Another young couple who broke the mould" ...seriously? These are newly uni's graduating debt free living on their parents's huge estate, probably established under pressure of mortgage and day jobs:-)))). This is not breaking the mold. This has PRIVILIGED written all over LOL . I wish them all best though.

They saved and did their best to create their home that they can later move to their own land if they wish or need to. The problem these days isn't the "privilege" it's that everyone expects and loves the rags to riches and lone wolf making it on their own story. Community and helping each other out is what we need to get back to. So they had help, that's what it means to be human... Help each other out, be a community :) ✌🏼️
