  • Have you ever heard that you need to raise the soft palate when singing but don't know how?
    That's how I felt whenever I heard that until I figured out how to feel the soft palate.
    I'm sharing with you how I learned to feel this movement and how I applied that to singing to if you're having the same issues that I used to, maybe this can help you, or so I hope!

    When I raise my soft palate, I lower my larynx automatically. Can you please give some tips to raise the soft palate without lowering the larynx?

    • @LeoMaiaProg
      @LeoMaiaProg  Год назад +2

      The mom / mo exercise without the bear sound. Do that then spread your mouth and use a EH sound and your larynx will be higher.
      Act like you're stifling a laugh, like you wanna laugh but you're in a classroom and can't be caught
      Do a quick inhale with a inwards "k" sound
      Those are some of the ways that different people can find the feeling of having the soft palate raised in their vocal tract maybe one of them helps you

      Thank you. So when i say the 'a' "ma' it goes up but i cant hold it. As soon as i change my vowel to any other vowel it falls down... I assume it requires some muscle engagement...

    • @user-pc4ul7rk6y
      @user-pc4ul7rk6y Год назад +1

      I can raise it but cant keep it lifted. Thank you for the suggestions 😊❤️

    • @LeoMaiaProg
      @LeoMaiaProg  Год назад

      @@user-pc4ul7rk6y not about muscle engagement, it's about resonance placement. When you change vowels and can't keep it, it's because you're not modifying those vowels properly imo from what you said here. But I could be wrong, just some tips on what to look for

    • @user-pc4ul7rk6y

      Oh so the soft palate raises as a result of change in vowel shape?

  • @wearemoxxy

    Good tip for feeling it- but the soft palate is not a valve

      What matters is what it does to your singing voice and how important it is to feel and control it

    This is so similar to opera technique

    • @LeoMaiaProg
      @LeoMaiaProg  4 месяца назад +1

      Opera is more about covering and dropping the larynx, lifting soft palate is just a part of it

    • @luisricardosorianozarceno2712
      @luisricardosorianozarceno2712 4 месяца назад +1

      @@LeoMaiaProg not actually dropping the larynx. More like keeping a natural relaxed position. However the German school definitely has a more "covered" sound than the Italian one.

    This is where I am blocked... I can switch between a nasal hight pitch and a flat chesty voice, but it's like I cannot live in middle and get that rounded sound which I assume is a mixed voice properly done. May you help me somehow?

    • @LeoMaiaProg
      @LeoMaiaProg  Год назад

      I think start on the more head voice and nasal sounding type and then you try to shape it rather than trying to get your flatter chest voice up there. See if all vowels sound the same, check vowel modifications

    Omg that's sounds difficult and confusing...😭😭

    • @LeoMaiaProg
      @LeoMaiaProg  2 месяца назад +1

      It's not really! Just stifle a laugh, inhale K sound, use more O dark vowel inward and upward direction, etc, these are all different ways to don't be same thing
