    Matovina's book Without You: The Tragic Story Of Badfinger is brilliant. HIS book is allegedly why VH-1 did this doc. I hope it gets reissued so many of you get to read it. He has been quoted he thought this documentary was just o.k. and should have been more hard-hitting. Maybe another one will get done some day.

      Yes, Dan wrote one heck of a book. He just sent me a 2nd copy of Without You: The Tragic Story Of Badfinger. It's so difficult to read the end without crying and it took him over 25 years to write it. I totally agree with you. The legendary Badfinger should be honored in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. It is certainly long overdo.

      I have that marvellous book and it tells the story far better than this documentary can - that is not to say this a lousy doco at all , it's just the Americanisation and air of commercialism into every single revelation gets on my tits ... The evil fucking management who destroyed these fine young lives should all fry in hell in perpetuity..... I bet a lot of people are unaware that Nilsson's big hit 'WITHOUT YOU' was a Pete Ham song.

      @@EnosEverything why didnt Paul step in and sue the record company of Badfinger?

    • @EnosEverything
      @EnosEverything 2 года назад

      @@merlinidlehands3302 Don't know the answer to that Merlin...In hindsight something should have been done.. It's similar to the prick who fleeced The Small Faces and I presume there are loads more cases where some arsehole took advantage of the bands/artists who had made them wealthy in the first place... Luckily there are people who genuinely care for the artists they represent , but in the hustle and bustle of the late sixties music scene there were those who saw the opening for a quick thousand bucks / quid and trampled all over those who slaved away at their behest.

My fathers other mate was also led zeppelins roadie. So much interesting stuff and some of the biggest and best bands in the world came from swansea. Im extremely proud to also be a Musician myself. I found this story so compelling I went on eBay to get Dan Matovina's Book about Badfinger.
    What an incredibly talented group of guys.
    Pete Ham & Tom Evans would have become the Lennon-McCartney for a new generation.
    I just got the Very Best of Badfinger CD and have been listening over and over at the Gym.
    Incredibly moving and poignant music.
    Now if we could only get VH1 to make the DVD available.

      No need to be ashamed. Even one of the sound guys in the studio said he'd have to look over and make sure that it wasn't one of the Beatles singing. It's perfectly understandable. They idolized the Beatles and they were the first band signed by Apple records. Their first hit was written by Paul, George played on and produced some songs.
      So it's really no wonder they would sound like the Beatles. A great example of that is try listening to the band The Knickerbockers and their song "lies", most would bet the farm saying they were listening to the Beatles.
