    hey man, watching "going south" on a Persian satellite tv was what made me interested in cycling, and I bought a bike after a month and done many cycling tours in my country as well as using it for my daily commutes, thanks to you and Asa. I remember Asa saying something like this in one episode that if only one person was encouraged to use bike because of the film, it would serve the purpose. I just wanted to say I owe you all the joy I have had with cycling. way to go

    Hi Javier and Asa, we've met during filming for 'Going South'. I liked the 13 part series and I also like your own editing for this 15 minutes spectacular video. Very well done, beautiful photography, very good camerawork. Your way of sustainable travelling is a perfect example and inspiration for many people. Thanks to both of you! After your trip, and the trip of Alex and Finn too, I bought some bikes and started cycling! Best regards, love, cheers, skol, Gilles

      Hi Gilles! Of course we remeber you very well! I hope you are still filming interesting stories around the world, and even more so if you are cycling while doing so! I am going to make a solo trip in the Andes soon (just a couple of months, you know, work, family etc..., cannot get more right now), and I hope to take the time to film a bit and fly my drone while cycling. Big hug from Åsa and myself, we loved that you got in touch!

    Thank you. Well done. I did this ride in 2002. Good to see that Karen Bauer is still at it - she crashed out of our ride on Mt. Hood.

    Wonderful. Its beauty almost brought tears to my eyes. Twice. (and for the record it was third of a kind in a row I watched, and previous two were like "nice picture, cool guys, ok"). "non-professional". Only maybe in a sense that the company that made the chocolate bars you were surviving on in the desert didn't pay for the trip. Kudos and thanks.

    wow. 8 months of riding condensed into 15 minutes. such a long distance too that drivetrain parts would wear down like the chains and probably a gear or two on both bikes, a few sets of brake pads, etc. Nice video. ...and you guys need kickstands :D

    Javier,
    I am planning to bike through Mexico, Central America, and South America in the next year or so. What months did you cycle through South America? Would you recommend cycling during those months, or are there months with better weather? Any advice you have is appreciated! Thanks.
    -Caitlin

      +Caitlin Kuehl Hej Caitlin! Great that yuo go there. Well, it depends on where you are going to be when. Of course crossing the Amazon between January-June can be quite wet (difficult if you take non-asphalted roads), surely May-September can be very cold down in Patagonia, Carretera Austral etc...We crossed the amazon in October-November, and went to the very South of South America in January-MArch It is all about common sense, but you cannot go wrong especially if you are flexible and adaptable to change routes etc...Let me know if that helps!

    You were cycling on quite a lot of small narrow out of the way dirt roads, how did you find them or plan the trip. I want to cycle in SA so any info to help me plan a route would be helpful, thanks.

    • @radog7769
      @radog7769  7 лет назад +1

      Hej Englishman! We did not plan anything, we did not even carry a GPS or a mobile phone to have a digital map. We were just doing one day at a time, asking local people, other bikers etc...I personally would try to bike in the Andes as much as possible, alternating it with some stretches in the Amazon, La Gran Sabana, the Cerrado, the Chaco or other vast natural tropical areas

    • @alexbaum2204
      @alexbaum2204 6 лет назад

      Javier Godar this was just an amazingly beautiful video. Can you just quickly name the countries you went through while on the South American continent? I thought I saw the Gran Sabana in this. That would mean a different route than people usually take. But maybe I’m wrong. Very curious. Again, lovey video. Breath taking.

      Hi! Sorry, no. We try to escape from social media as much as we can. I am going back to the Andes this winter, solo and mostly off-road, so I will try to film the experience and post it here.
