MADE A MISTAKE IN THE SUBSTAT SECTION! In Terms of DPS sub stats you want Lingyang to build Attack percent, flat attack, and Basic attack dmg. Resonance isn't applicable during his burst as I had initially thought

Since Wuthering Waves is in it's infancy we still don't know for certain How echoes are going to work in end game. A lot of misinformation is spreading, and I did my best to present what the common consensus was regarding how to go about building them.
Should that end up being wrong I'll update this comment on a later date.
so as a fellow lingyang main who has seen his potential since day one i would like to say that they buffed him and made him the only character with multiple air dodges
In his lion dancing mode while in the air he can dodge from pillar to pillar and it counts as a dodge because it allows for a counterattack after but it seems to have a smaller dodge frame about the same as the air dodge frame which is smaller than the ground dodge frame
(just here to clarify some stuff)

Don't let the tier list fool you. This boy is a beast! He's so fun to play if you're patient enough to learn. His outro skill also has a really high dmg multiplier it's ridiculous.

After playing with him, I'm pretty confident the reason people don't think he is good is because there are no dedicated support units for him currently.
Im currently using mono glacio team > linyang, sanhua, baizhi(going to change baizhi to verina)
i feel like jinhsi will be a good support/sub-dps for him
Does he synergies well well with Jianxhin? Cause I feel like her shield can solve his problem with getting hit mid air
@@-Insert-Name_Here- take it with a grain of salt, but as a Jianxin enjoyer I'm almost certain that unlike another open world action gacha title, shields in this game don't give interrupt resistance. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I can think of a few times where I was fighting with a fat shield from Jianxin but got knocked out of a rover combo anyways by a sufficiently hard enough hit, even though only the shield took the damage.
True.. maybe if add a support/weapons that can grant boost to aerial and glacio damage.. then another one that can grant him superarmor..
As a fellow Lingyang main, I didn't even realize the Ultimate restored the Resonance Meter, I always just waited until it was at 100% so I didn't waste the buff. This was genuinely super informative, thank you

Ngl though, those first few hours with him were rough, but after I figured out how the Resonator skill worked it has been nothing short of an absolute blast.
One thing to add is that Lion Boy can cover a lot of ground during DPS window, which is one advantage over Calcharo and Jiyan.
That E ability will take you to China and back in a moment, it's so funny.

Choice him for the selector and for the beginer's choice. His cons are cracked and if i get c1 out of the way (which its actually super helpful) i can get the dmg increase ones sooner. Hehe~

Honnestly while I don't have him yet I loved playing him during his quest and when you get him in the main story. I don't know why everyone seems to think he's bad.

i gonna go for him on the 5 star selector, i heard that she is really bad but i also heard that people are exaggerating on how bad he is, and he seemed fine for me when i tested him
Well, I've been playing him since day one and he seems perfectly fine to me. Pick whoever you want, I don't think there are any bad characters in the game. He may not be the strongest character but he's been doing lots of damages and clear the content pretty easily on my end so I don't think you have to worry too much
I got him on beginners banner. For content he was the one I wanted the least. His gameplay has grown on me since and I'm considering building him now where before I wasn't going to. If you enjoy him he's fine honestly.
Remember early days of genshin, Qiqi and Barbera were good bc they were healers, people ran phys Beidou, Keging and Xiangling, Venti was the best character In the game, Jean was a main dps etc. The meta will vastly change so for now just have fun and do what you want. He feels fun to play if you like him I'm sure he'll be great for a while

An under appreciated facet of his kit is that having a fast, zero cooldown skill constantly available means he’s able to constantly normal attack bosses without fear of missing the parry window-you can just hit the skill whenever you see the golden flash. In practice, this allows him a higher % of his maximum DPS, Concerto energy gain, and Resonance energy gain than his peers in a given same situation, which makes him a good deal better than the on-paper comparisons would imply.

I've got his Chain 1. I really like his gameplay. And obviously he is really good in single target content and bosses. Unfortunately suffers in AoE content. Crowd Control probably makes him considerably better. But I'm really liking him so far

No lie I got this game FOR Lingyang. My friends kept telling me he was the most useless, but I quickly figured out it was because they had no idea how he worked. Glad people are giving my guy some love.
Actually i did NOT lose the 50/50, i pulled him from the selector pass 😂 him and calcharo were the 2 characters i most wanted from the standard banner at launch and i'm happy to report i have both

I love LingYang. I do think that lots of people are going of information from the closed beta and don’t know how much better he is now. Also, yeah, he’s tricky and you don’t get his tutorial until you’ve pulled him for real.

Lingyang is an incredible unit. When built well, he is absolutely op and he carried me since the very start of the game, I CANT STAND PPL WHO BLANKLY SAY HES SHIT LEAVE MY BOY ALONE

I always felt like he was underrated. I could be wrong but i also feel like his enhanced skill does really significant stun damage which is useful against single target

I got him on my main as my first char, looked up guides and everything, played him in every different mode, after that i tried other chars on my reroll acc and i came to the conclusion that lingyang just isnt fun to play, every other character makes so much more fun and i really tried with lingyang but damn as soon as u hit certain boss mechanics theres just nothin u can do... instead of playin lingyang i would reccomend playing chixia, sanhua and baizhi for ur second team, u are welcome.

Was expecting more info on swap combos or timings like how when Lion's Spirit is less than 10 and he does that final air hit combo is a great time to swap as Lingyang will finish the combo string on his own

It took me a day or two to understand his kit and I was gonna give up on him too. But then I looked at his meter and finally understood how he works and I'm having a blast

He's cute and his gameplay is fun especially when he flies. I was thinking wouldn't he be an amazing Mortefi Resonance Liberation proc? He attacks so fast and weaves Heavy Attacks with Basic Attacks plus he can also spam Resonance Skill. Mortefi S1 fires Marcatto whenever the on field character performs a Resonance Skill. I haven't tried it cause I don't have Lingyang yet but it sounds dope. Well I hope it works the way I think it is causw I'm not really good at the game. 😂

One thing to mention is that Lingyang is without doubt the best character to parry the attacks of the bosses due to his ability that doesn't have CD so...with some skill you can parry literally everything, amazing to deal with the shield of the bosses

I just completed his companion quest and i find him really fun to play. Im using Danjin and Verina currently and i will get Jinxan from selector, but this guy is pretty fun to play too. Maybe i will pull for him in the secured character at pity 80.
Something to add is that i am using a 3* weapon for my level 60 lingyang called originite: type IV, it has crit dmg sub stats, and im hitting 13k with outro skill, 7k with ult damage, and 2k for basic attacks of liondance mode(with ult buffs). I do not know if its good damage since i havent really used any other weapon but i just want to share a piece of my experience so someone else could compare if its viable with lingyang.
I love his design and character, for me personally i find his personality being 99% liondancing troupe (the voicelines) very cringe. Like him saying "dont forget us liondance troupe" and its only him from the troupe along with it was such an outta touch with the moment thing it just makes me roll my eyes. ove his gameplay though
I wanna Joke Build Him , Since he ruined my Pity, How can i Do that ? Something other than Using Lampylumen Echo on him, (I already have Sanhua c6)
Honestly, I would not be surprised if there are more aerial-centric DPS and support units later on in the game cycle and Lingyang somehow becomes a true S-tier as a result. Just as power creep is a thing, so too seem to be older characters returning to the spotlight (or finally getting the spotlight) due to newer support that makes their niche actually more viable in the metagame.
But yeah, people probably say he is bad because he doesn't have as much easy teambuilding potential, thus they see him as not worth investing the still somewhat limited resources most people have at this point of the game.
Streamers just say he's bad bc they're bad and he isn't instantly understandable so they just throw him in C tier and call it a day. They did the same thing with benette in G.I. and im just looking around like uhhh im instantly healed and my team gets a damage boost what am i missing? 😆

As someone who got lingyang from the first newbie banner, decided to not use him for the first day, then used him ever since then. I love his playstyle, spam basic attack and skill. (I have not progressed in the story a lot yet am almost at lvl 20)

I'm curious, wouldn't E6 Baizhi better? Her E6 provides teamwide Glacio damage which buffs both Sanhua and Lingyang. Also doesn't Baizhi and Verina offer the same buff? (same outro skill, attack buff on user for Baizhi when she uses her Resonance Skill while Verina gives teamwide attack buff when she uses HA)

Mine may not be the most optimized team (Lingyang/Mortefi/Baizhi) but it's fun seeing Lingyang throw punches and Mortefi's fire attacks still firing out of him like rockets. Machine Gun Squad lmao.
i got him by accident on my 2nd account and i gave him a chance...i am really enjoying his playstyle and skills xD i paired him with mortefi coz i thought boosting HA was the right way :/ not sure now..i keep seeing sanhua more than mortefi.. is mortefi completely useless for him? ^^' i did get sanhua too so..
