27 year age gap between me and my girlfriend. Honestly the cultural and educational difference seem a bigger issue than the age gap. I do agree though you need to make provisions for the future. Never want to leave people worse off for having known you.

If you don’t have enough death benefits, your wife might be left with nothing when you die. If you have too much death benefits, she may decide to speed up the process.

Bill, I love your videos. I am 64 and dating a 35 year old Filipina. This subject has crossed my mind. If we marry, she will receive a pension from my military service, va, savings, and insurance policy. If we marry, I plan to adopt her 6 years old daughter, and she wants to have another child. Which means she will receive ssa for both children.

I met a guy in Pattaya who was with his new Thai bride. He was in his 60's she only just 20. He lied to her father about his age. ( he had a really bad dye job). This was his second or third innings, the others had escaped. In order to get a visa (UK) he had to buy her a condo, the reason being she had no reason to return to Thailand without property. In my opinion he had more money than sense!

Hi Bill, another thing I learned from your knowledge. I’ve been to SE Asia dozens of times, never realized that there is such a thing as age discrimination in the work force! Now I understand when I walk by hiring agencies in Bangkok, all I saw were young people, no middle age applicants.

A very insightful video on age gap issues in relationships. My Thai partner is 10 years younger than me and these same issues are in the back of my mind. Fortunately, I'm still in good health but at 70 that could change in a heartbeat.

I'm 65 my Thai partner is 50, seems like a good age difference to me. I'm not an old 65 ready to play lawn bowls so that helps. I don't want a younger woman because I want a companion who is closer to my age so we have life things in common, we are at similar places in life. There are cultural and religious differences which when she reminds me that is not how Thais do things you need to understand Thai culture, I remind her she chose to be with a Westerner and that's not how westerners do things she needs to understand western culture too. Some may see the cultural and language differences as a problem but for me its one of the attractions, I love the opportunity in my life to live and learn about Thai ways and the language. She can speak English but as with the average Thai who can speak English its limited, but I find it fun and entertaining to help her with her English and also to learn some Thai. Each situation is dependent on what type of person you are and what are your expectations. I never came to Thailand looking for a partner, I have been coming here since 1995 off and on because I like it here and like traveling the country on motorbikes and met her by chance outside of the tourist areas and we just got on so we are together. My suggestion is to spend time here and get outside the tourist areas before you start looking for a Thai woman.

I'm in my 70's but the problem is my "Little Brother" prefers the very young girls. Older stuff is OK but not so exciting really. What do I do??? I love Thailand any way, for better or worse. One solution is to build a business together in Thailand and when I kick off at 114 or something she is already wealthy and can carry on. Problem solved. Thanks for the show. Thanks for your interesting and thoughtful vlog. On a trip to Thailand in May I met a Thai woman who has become my girlfriend. There is a huge age gap-she is 38 and I am 71. Right now I am supporting her and I am going back in September for a month. She wants me to relocate permanently, but I am not sure that I want to move to Thailand long term. As a twice divorcée I am certainly not going to get married a third time. If I do end up moving to Thailand, I will have to make provisions for her in my will. But I also wonder whether the relationship can work due to the age gap and the cultural differences and language barriers-her English is not that good and I am too old to learn Thai. But if I break it off now, the alternative is not that optimistic for me (maybe better for her as she is still young). I will have to make a decision by the end of my trip-a major consideration is the unaffordable health insurance for someone of my age with heart problems. There is an Ancient Greek saying to the effect that you only know whether you have had a happy life when you are near death. I think that in the case of the gentleman in your story, perhaps it was the best ending for him, since at least he was looked after and had company until he passed away.

Certain jobs in Thailand do not have age discrimination, like the women who can cook and working on the food carts or markets, also massage lady’s can continue to work in there 60’s!

I reckon it's good policy not to go for an age difference you couldn't pull off in your own country. My Thai-Chinese woman is 16 years 6 months younger than I am. I had girlfriends of just above that age difference back in England. 1990 [Nick J]

Yes , as long as she has lived in the USA as your wife 5 years . If you move to the Philipines and you die , or if you die in the states and she goes back to the Philpines as long as she does not remarry they will pay her death benifits at 60 .

Bill - Why do you say the foreign wife has to have lived for 5 years in the USA...to be able to collect Social Security Death Benefits? Where did you see that?
Its on there website . I ve also verified it with Manila . Now if they become a US citizen then theres no 5 year requirement . But say you marry here , she never goes to the USA . She can not collect your benifits when you die . She can get the $250.00

Hi bill and lech its great to see you out and about.with your great videos. I fully agreeon the age gap and yes you need to make you will in her and the son/daughters name . Tell them yes but you need to have it put into there bank or a bank account they can get into it when the time is right .yes we have property in the Philippines in mactan island and up in cebu. And mum and dad we put in there name cause they pay less taxes if i have in our name we have to pay taxes on it in the Philippines. Thats why we did it that way. But if my wife needs money its there for herthat is a good way to do things as well. But my super annulation can be transferred into my bank when i retire. I will set it up before i retire. Witch will benifits for my wife and son.
