I learned another tip in addition to the make up brush for hands, feet, etc. Another YT self tanner using Bondi Sands not only strokes on the foam, she also “pats” the product into her skin. This was an “aha” moment for me because many facial products are “patted into the facial skin.”. The purpose for patting helps the skin absorb product. In addition, after showering the tanner off, PAT your skin dry, do not rub. Thank you for your video! Blessings!
I drink coffee so I make my own coffee scrub. I mix mine with a little of my body wash because the coffee is oily already and I feel so clean afterwards and ready to self tan. I also use Bondi Sands Dark and I use the Liquid Gold Dry Oil mixed with my body lotion instead of the tanning milk. That way I can mix in as little or more as needed. I have sensitive skin so I have to be careful of what lotions I use so this works out perfectly. 2 pumps of my lotion and 2-6 pumps of the liquid gold depending on the body part and how dark or light I want.
If you are using light to medium Bondi sand foam I found the best makeup is Garnier bb cream. Light version and medium version mixed together (light then medium on top) it blends in with tan so well. (So you need to purchase both, but it's well worth it. ) I also use a highlighter natural glow (shimmer) pretty cheek on my cheeks, my nose (going downwards) and my chin only. It's the cherry on the cake! My sis in law walked in and saw me and said wow "I love what you did to your face" so there you have it.
I’m so jealous of your cool skin tone! I have a warm skin tone (red undertone) so I find that self tanners just go orange on me no matter which one I try. I’m going to try the St. Tropez and Bondi Sands brands to see if they work. Thanks for the great tips!
Sorry I’m a little late on this comment but yeah let us know what you’ve tried :) I really struggle with finding products that work for me too. They either look an odd color or rinse off. I actually really like the isle of paradise tanning mousse. I’ve been enjoying that but I ordered the bondi sands so I’m excited for it to come! Edit: sorry when I mean rinse off, like the tan comes off immediately and was useless! Lol sometimes I literally don’t even wash off the color guard. I force it to stay which I shouldn’t have to do!
After your body is clean apply the dark foam and you can sleep with it for darker results or they say leave it for 6 hours or more. I got it and i love it, just bought more! Dark foam is good, the more you put on there more darker you get from what I’ve been hearing.
I always do my self tan routine at night, and then sleep in it - so I generally have it on for about 10 hours or so! Yes, once it has fully developed (so for me in the morning when I wake up) I rinse off the color guard in the shower and pat myself dry! I put this video out a few years ago, and since then I believe Bondi has come out with an Ultra Dark Foam (Dark was the darkest option at the time), so that may give you the darker look you are going for! You can also apply several layers to get the desired shade you’d like! If you were to do that, I would suggest waiting 30 minutes between each application to ensure you are dry so you have a smooth second application! Hope this helps! ❤️
Do you shower exfoliate and shave the same day you self tan? I have been doing my routine (exfoliate and shave) mid morning than same day evening self tan.
Love your video, very informative. I was wondering if youv've ever tried using the elf ultimate blending brush prior to the morphe m439, and if so, did it work as well?
Thanks so much!! I havent tried that elf brush but I am always looking for alternatives! I actually saw Jaclyn Hill use this brush in one of her self tanning videos and thought i would give it a try! I love the way it helps apply so I havent had any problems with the application!
Yw :) I've read on some reviews that the morphe brush is bad about shedding so that's what had me interested in an alternative brush. However, I have read some really good reviews on Real Techniques blending brush so I am going to try that one and I'll get back with you to let you know how well that one works. Thanks again!! :)
Thank you!! To be honest I posted this video about 4 years ago and I can’t remember my skincare routine from back then! When I tan now, I use a very hydrating moisturizer on my face over the self tanner! I switch back and forth between the Sunday Riley Tidal cream, and the Belief Aqua Bomb. I’m currently pregnant so I cant use the sunday riley moisturizer right now, but the aqua bomb is just as good and keeps my skin super hydrated!
Nope! The tanner has a color guard in it, so when you apply, it is going to show on your skin as a goldish/brown shade. That is just so you can see where the tan is applying, and where you may need to add more, or blend more. Once you wash off the top layer, that top layer with the color guard will wash off leaving your skin with a sun kissed tan!
I just did mine for the 1st time today & let’s just say I messed up . I didn’t have a mitten, I just used my hand . I just did my face & neck . I’m nervous because I have to be at work in 6 hours 😩
Another question I have thought of, I work in health care so I am constantly washing my hands, is this going to cause the product to wash off within the first day or so?
Thats a really good question! You may have a bit of trouble, BUT If you continue to use the gradual tanning milk it shouldnt fade your tan super fast! Just try to pat your hands dry instead of rub them on a towel etc!
hi,. do you exfoliate after butting on Tanner? or...wait a few days? Also do you have to use the tanner eraser in a few days to remove faded tan then you can start over,?
I don't exfoliate until I am ready to self tan again, if I am tanning back to back weeks! I actually haven't tried the tan eraser yet, but yes, you would use that around day 6 or 7 if you wish to start over with you tan!
The next morning when I rinse off the color guard, I pat myself dry and then apply the tanning milk! When i’m self tanning I apply the tanning milk morning and night to extend my tan as long as possible!❤️
You mentioned you use the Frank's Exfoliant a couple times a week,, do you do this while keeping your tan? Also for instance if mine starts to fade around 5 days and i want to add more can I do a light exfoliation and put a new layer on without having to do a full heavy exfoliation? Im trying to find a routine where I can continually be tan but not deep exfoliate every few days if that makes sense.. also what soap or body wash do you use to preserve it while regularly showering? Thanks!! You have beautiful skin! I tried Loving Tan last week and I was not that impressed.... it was just ok... streaked and didnt take to my arms or chest,, was weird
So thank you for catching this because I need to clarify... back when I filmed this, I used the exfoliant a few times a week in general, but when I am self tanned, I do not exfoliate my body to make sure I dont remove the self tanner until i’m ready to! If your tan fades within 5 days, I would suggest trying their gradual tanning milk lotion and applying twice a day while youre tanned to extend the length of the tan! When I tan and use the lotion, my tan lasts about a week before I need to remove the tan and start over! I currently use either Sol de Janiero Body wash, or Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body wash! I am very delicate with my soap while I am tan and always pat myself dry coming out of the shower! Never rub the towel on yourself or you will definitely rub off some of your tanner!
+Rebekah Jones Hi!! I use Perricone MD No Foundation, Foundation. I use the shade light medium, and it just randomly worked out that it was an exact match of shade for the tanner. I use the dark foam tanner, and I only do 1 application. If you are using the tanner but cannot find a foundation to match, I would say go to a Sephora if you have one near you, and ask them to color match you while you are self tanned! They have this Color IQ system scanner that they use on your face or neck and it scans you, and then will provide you a list of foundations within the store, and what shade you would be in them! It's awesome!! Hope this helped! xx
At the time of filming this video yes! Within the last 2 years the company has come out with a tan eraser foam that helps take the tan off instead of exfoliating it off! So now when I am reapplying the tanner, I will use the tan eraser, and then exfoliate my skin to prep it again for a new tanning application! Yes, I usually sleep in the tanner and rinse off the color guard the next morning. When I get out of the shower I pat myself dry and apply the tanning milk! From there I will apply the tanning milk morning and night to get as much time out of the tanner as possible (about a week for me!)❤️
No! Back when I filmed this, I always exfoliated the tanner off when it was really fading on me. Within the last 2 years Bondi has come out with a tan eraser product that works well to take the tan off without having to heavily scrub!
Love your video!! 1 question, does the gradual tanning milk stain the bedsheet/clothes when you apply it before bed? I already have a bottle of this but staining issue is drawing me back lol
Hi!! It can! I usually lay a towel down and sleep on that to protect my sheets for the first night. Make sure you wear clothes you dont care about to bed the night you apply it -- the tanner will transfer some, but it comes out in the wash!
I made this tutorial 6 years ago.. back then this was the norm for product reviews! - Review still stands though. This tanner lasts me 5-7 days depending on when I remember to apply the gradual tanning lotion. It blends very easily, and within the last few years the company has come out with the ultra dark shade (that I now use instead).
I brought this self tanner and I did two coats and it still wasn't dark I don't understand I exfoliated and all this and I don't understand what's wrong everyone loves it but it just looked terrible
+Tara Vohringer Did you use the dark tanning foam? Or one of their other products? I've only used the foam and gradual tanning milk, so I'm not sure how the color pay off is with anything else. How long did you leave the product on for to set into your skin??
+beautybytheblond I used the dark tanning foam! I slept with the tan on and put another coat on and left it for 8 hours! I also got the tanning milk but it deff wasn't that dark
+Christine D'Angelo if you are in the US, Bondi Sands is now available on the Target website!! It isnt sold in stores, but you can get it through them right online!
Everyone has their own opinion on every product out there! I have never had a bad application with this line, and ive now been using the tanner for over 5 years. When applying the tan, yes.. you are definitely going to look a bit off because there is a color guard in the tanner to ensure you see every spot that needs to be blended better, or tanned more! If you’re still having issues after rinsing off the color guard after you are fully developed, the tanner may just be clashing with the prep products you use! That would be my only thought as to why you havent had luck with this one!
I do the exact same thing, I made a coffee scrub with coconut oil and vitamin e, and of course apply tan afterwards..
Girl I can’t believe how well you blended ! It looks professional 🤍
Omg! I love ur tanning skin ! It looks sooooo amazing !!!!
love this tan its so good just brought some more but in the ultra dark ...x
No way!!!!! Is Ultra Dark available in the states now!!?? Ive been dying to try it!!

Does the light bondi sands mouse smell at all? That fake tan smell that progresses after a while?
very positive tutorial! Thank you for your good work on this video
I just started using. Used Josie Maran and decided to try.. Just wondering if you still use?
I’m so jealous of your cool skin tone! I have a warm skin tone (red undertone) so I find that self tanners just go orange on me no matter which one I try. I’m going to try the St. Tropez and Bondi Sands brands to see if they work. Thanks for the great tips!
Let me know what works for you

It doesn't look dark at all. How long do you leave it on? Do you have to rinse off? What would be a good one to get darker?

I can't wait to try this.
your closet is so neat!
I just used this I feel good !!! Thank you
When do you play the tanning milk after first shower to wash the foam tanner off?
Do you shower exfoliate and shave the same day you self tan? I have been doing my routine (exfoliate and shave) mid morning than same day evening self tan.
I use Bondi sand it's the best
Hi, Did you say you just do one coat??
+Rebekah Jones Yes! my skin tone is pretty light, so one coat of the dark foam is how my tan comes out in the video!
Love your video, very informative. I was wondering if youv've ever tried using the elf ultimate blending brush prior to the morphe m439, and if so, did it work as well?

Do you wear a Glow Moistrizer under your skin? It looks nice the way you wear your Foundation.
Thank you!! To be honest I posted this video about 4 years ago and I can’t remember my skincare routine from back then! How well does this hold up when you go swimming? Does it come off in chlorine?
Ive personally been using it for over a year and it lasts a week or so. Yes you can swim/bathe.
Does the tan leave your skin orange looking or yellow color when your first wash your body after applying the tan?
How many days in a row can you use it ?

I've found that what gets old tanner off better than anything is rubbing with a washcloth in the shower. A loofah will not work
After showering the tanner off can you put the gradual tanning milk on or would you wait a while after that to put it on
After showering the tanner i do put the tanning milk
The next morning when I rinse off the color guard, I pat myself dry and then apply the tanning milk! When i’m self tanning I apply the tanning milk morning and night to extend my tan as long as possible!❤️
Thank you
was this in shade light/ medium or the dark one?
I used the shade dark!
Tommorow I will buy one and try it

does it make skin dry?

gr8t! thank you!
Hate this tan. Looks so dirty and grubby when you apply it no matter how much prepping you do. St Tropez way better or a gradual tanner.
That is soooo NOT true. You must need a tanning mitt. Or better skills idk. But your comment is inaccurate.
