This is very interesting. I have many dear friends and acquaintances who are Muslims or of other faiths. I, myself, am Quaker. Because I do not know Arabic, I have never read the Quran. I am very hesitant about reading any holy book--including the Bible--with too much certainty because all of these books were written, as you said, in different times. Still, I feel that it is very important to learn about other faiths and celebrate our differences. Thank you!
The Quran is in its original form (Arabic) since it’s revelation. So, reading an English translation won’t be too far from its meaning if you are a beginner. God is telling all People of the Book to read the Quran, because it too is a revelation from Him.
Some people say “People of the Book” are Jewish and Christians of the time, but the moder ones don’t count. Is this a radical point of view? What would you say about that
you are incorrect... the Torah clearly 'endorses' the Gospels as Jesus makes frequent reference to the Torah and demonstrates His claims that he was both sent by God the Father; that HE completely & perfectly fulfilled the Law of Moses and was faithful to the Torah. He claimed and demonstrated that He was the Messiah based on the complete prophecy of the Tanack. Islam, however, in many respect does not share the 'same' theology of the Bible. This is not to say there are not similar ethics
Can modern Muslims (not Muslims during the time of Prophet) be considered as people of the book? Since they have long acquired the book? Contrary during the time of the Prophet, the followers of the Prophet recently emerged, that is why they are called 'ummi'- unlettered. Once they got the book, and studied it, can modern muslims be considered as people of the book? I also notice a lot of similarities between Muslims and people of the book.
@shieldsff : this is none sense what you are saying. By Jesus being faithful to the Torah means the Torah endorses Jesus's Gospels? Where is it written in the Torah that Jesus's Gospel is valid. YOu may tell me it hints to it but not as clearly as Jesus himself endorsing the Torah, not the other way around,
There is a people who are written of in revelation chapter 10, that would come, that would eat (understand, live by, make part of them), the Book of Daniel, and it would be sweet in their mouth but the anguish and bitter disappointment would bring them suffering - yet they would obey the Most High. They would understand what other Christians would not understand and often scoff at. They would be a remainder a remnant of the ancient faith of Seth, Noah, Abraham - onward - believing the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Isa said the time would come that they shall be hated by everyone for His Name's sake, but He would not hate them, He would love them still.
@ Truthseeker424 The bible doesn't endorse any part of the Quran same way the Torah/Mosaic Law doesn't endorse any of the Gospels of Jesus. ummm, guess why? "coz Quran came after the bible same way the Gospels came after the Torah..
Muslims are not so because we follow no only the Quran but also the Traditions & Sayings of Muhammad pbuh. This is not so for The People of The Book. You only follow what is in the book. Then from time time you go in and alter it or rewrite and make it different than it's previous form. And in the books some have put letters to such and such and called it a New Testament.
SALVATION IS AT STAKE! Muslims and Christians alike need to go further in study then to just believe what you were taught. Be led by God's Spirit. The Bible is spoke about in the Koran because it was here first evidently. The Bible does not have to prove that it is true. It is truth! Why would a book endorse some of another book but not all of it? The Bible doesn't endorse none of the Koran.
Remember! All religions are after a man/woman in one way or another. Mohamed/Muslim, Martin Luther/Luthern, John Calvin/Baptist, Constantine/Catholics etc... True Christianity is after a man also; CHRIST! And not one of those religion's man compare to Jesus. So if you are going to follow a man, let it be the best man! The 1 that was and is God... OBEY ACTS2:38!
Hamann9631 Does it also include Hindus as well? When the Mughals rules India, they extended "people of the book" status to Hindus. I am not sure whether that really made sense though; Hinduism has nothing to do with either of the three Abrahamaic faiths.
From what I understand, Mormons are also Christians, just with Joseph Smith as a new prophet. As those who also believe in the old testament as the true words of the same god, Mormons should hypothetically also be people of the book. The old testament is the "book" (it consists of multiple books) that all Abrahamic faiths share as the true works of god. They just separate at different points in history into new religions based on further revelations by new prophets.
@@KingCrayon420 Thank you for your thoughts. Mormons (members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) believe in the same Bible as all other christians. I was wondering if Dr. Ally gives The Book of Mormon credit (or believes The Quran gives) for being a book which is like The Bible and Torah.

@Peace Lover you have to obey the people of the book in other words obey the gospels of Jesus Christ
The Bible we have now was the same bible that was already completed, when the quaran states that Muslims should listen to the people of the book
@@kevb_007wrong the bible nowadays have been corrupted nowadays,
The bible in the days of Jesus peace be upon him, was the correct bible

He was a Prophet.
