Yep, worst storm of my life, including Gustav, Andrew, and Katrina. Glad you and your family made it out safe, maybe one day I can take the boat out again and see what changed for myself.
So glad to see the Marsh was not totally devastated and there are a few hungry fish around. I could do without the hungry gator as would most. Also very glad to see you back in your element...on the water with some tight lines. Thanks for sharing and here is to a speedy recovery for the great State of Louisiana.
Looks like you launched at RIGOLETS. I visited the launch last week but what I saw kept me from launching. It was jammed with marsh grass/Cain some of which was attached to mud lumps. Several boats came in and literally looked like they just came back from a BP Spill clean up mission. Perdido Key area is good off shore in the gulf but nowhere on earth compares to S/E La.
That's interesting about the redfish, my experience has been the exact opposite, but I will admit that I've found better redfish action closer to the Mississippi River.
We've had it in Calcasieu lake for years. Seems like we don't grow the gator trout as much as we used to but the overall population seems very high. Seriously though, trout doesn't freeze or keep well for long, how many fish are you going to eat?
Todd, what do you think about the limit and size changes being considered by the LDWF (possibly increase minimum size, slot limits, reduced creel limit)? I responded to the survey that I was not opposed to such changes.
I’ve made a decision to limit my boat to 10 trout per angler, so I’ve got no problem with a reduction. It won’t likely help the population as a whole, but will limit localized overfishing
Todd, Great video as always. How are you liking your transition to a foot pedal trolling motor? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Debating before I make the jump. Thanks.
Did you see much debris while you were running out? I guess it would be a good idea to bring a rake in the event, there are issues at the launch? I saw a lot of floating and semi submerged debris both on Twin Span and Causeway areas, also huge bait balls in same area!!
The marshes were remarkably clean, and as you could tell from the video, the marshes themselves held up pretty well. The fishing will spring back. I’m 100% confident of that
The GUY barking and growling at an alligator, calls the alligator an idiot.....LOL I hope you keep a brass dispensing TOOL on the boat for “EMERGENCIES” Good to know your trout are in some of the bayous, any consolation, there are small ones in the bayous over in Waveland & Bay St Louis areas as well. Did you figure out the ‘ODD’ looking small bait you had seen in this video?
Whoops, I boarded the wrong boat again, Todd. Remind me again where to meet you and we'll definitely get that fishing trip underway. Thanks! 😉

Thanks for watching and for your well wishes
Glad to see you back on the water! Thanks for the report! Was that sweet water marina that looked like that?

I’m ready to get back into the marsh but going to be tuff to do that over here on the westbank after Ida
No question about that. Damage was so severe on that side. Good luck getting your life back in order
best way to get a gator to show himself is to have a dog start barking. I think that is a gators favorite meal

Dang! We are staying in Grade Lagoon at the moment, love Perdido so many nice beach Houses
Lol you barking at the gator lol
Are you happy that they are making a 15 fish limit for speckle trout? What are your thoughts?

Where did you hear Louisiana is moving to a 15-fish limit?
Good vid:) was wondering what baitcasting setup you were using?
Okuma Helios reel and Psycho Stick rod

It makes me wonder why I was so stubborn for so long. I absolutely love it

No, they were about 1/2-inch long and fat
@@MarshManMasson I wonder if that could’ve been grubs, washed out from the grass areas?
I’m ready for the Florida house tour and fishing?
It’s coming
interesting tactic to scaring a gator bruh, dem eat dogs yeah
Hurricane Betsy was the worse 1965.
Actually Ida was stronger
@@MarshManMasson IDA was 150mph and Betsy was 160mph
Not to quibble, but you brought it up. Betsy was 140. Clearly both were destructive storms.
Dude you are long winded
But damn good-looking, amirite?
