In today's video, I'm going to show you guys how to make 250 scrap in less than 5 minutes as a naked on any fresh server. The fishing system now lets you fish up to 270 scrap worth of fish per completion if you follow the steps outlined here. I hope you guys enjoy thhe video and learn a lot from it!

No problem, the new system is a little different, so I'm glad this video helped!
Something that I have been doing that I haven't noticed anyone else do. You can't get 2 of the same fish in a row. If you catch a shark, your next fish is gonna be salmon or trout. But if you use some bad bait such as a single piece of fish meat, you'll reset it and you can get another shark again

Yeppers lol and a funny thing is if you just start a scrap exchange for bear raw wolf meat people think like wtf in your vending machine.
But truly the real meta of this is the fish traps less bs so you can focus on other things.
does this work on console
im holding off on updating the game until they further tweak or revert fishing. I used to enjoy chilling and fishing, now it seems like a tool for exchanging bear meat to scrap. if you try actually fishing up the chain as they state... you will just be catching the same 3 varietys of small fish over and over again. and when the optimal way to fish is to manually add bait one attempt at a time in your inventory instead of just chucking it in your rod... then you know its broken.
It is frustrating, they really need to decrease the bait stacking for the grubs down to 2.
One bad piece of info, the ladder doesn't stop people trolling by jumping on your head, but it's still well worth it for the lack of vanishing fish.
hey how are you seeing so clear under water. It might have been updated but last time I played the underwater visibility was so bad.
Are you using a Diving Mask? A few patches back Facepunch made this worthless item useful again.

doable, you'll get about the same amount of scrap, but with the added risk of players killing you
Fishing in underwater labs basically gives you the same results, but you can also catch orange roughy there which sell a little better than salmon, but not as well as sharks.
Why is fish meat not viable for bait?
The quick summary is that it's very time consuming and met with mixed results. It comes down to the change of bait levels and what you can catch with each bait stack.
Raw fish meat is now a bait level of .5 that can stack up to 3 times resulting in a max bait level of 1.5. When looking at what you can catch with a bait of 1.5 results in catching Anchovy, Herrings and Sardines which are each a bait level of 2 stacking up to 2 for a max bait of 4. You still need a bait level of 5+ to catch sharks and salmon.
This means you have to use fish meat to catch small fish, then use the small fish to catch trout then use the trout to catch shark or salmon. What really slows it down is you can use 2x Anchovy, Herrin or Sardine and catch 1 of the fish from this list. So you are at risk of losing or falling behind on your bait even as you progress a few bait levels higher.

Use the trout as bait and you're guaranteed a shark or salmon.

It does not take 5 min. More like 15
It normally only takes me about 5 minutes to complete the quest and fish 8 times. The fishing tips section of the video should help you fish quicker.
