    @MiCompre I know this! It's so that the guitar can have a short scale on the higher strings and a longer scale on the lower strings. The nut, the saddle and the frets are warped to make that happen. If the 8 string guitar would use a fixed scale length like normal guitars, the higher strings would be so tight they would snap, and the lower strings would be so loose it would be useless.

    Tom has an 8-string guitar but the lessons and demonstrations are using the 6 inner strings which are the same as a 6-string guitar.

    Is it hard to get used to the multi-scale guitar? I ask because I haven't been able to play one and was thinking about trying to pick one up.
