After P3R came out, I had gotten into Fear and Hunger cuz the game actually encapsulated the themes way better than Reload did in terms of gameplay.
Tho FES is easier than F&H lol. Imagining a “crossover” made sense to me, Nyx certainly has the horror the monsters in this game have.

@@Necrow_Productions if you had the patience very fun most problems where not available online but the theory crafting on the discord is a lot of fun seeing so many youtube shorts talking about the lore gives me life. ending D is still my fave if you leave the darkness and rule the world as the one true god

Just played both games myself recently and I personally find them really fun and the world surprisingly complex. Once you get the patterns down things become more bearable and while things are very likely to go wrong there’s always some option to make it at least a tiny bit better which can go a long way.
Notes to help play
Open if you want
check everything including herbs on ground or the walls
beds can save/heal sometimes and beds are multi use
sconces on walls can be lighted to lift darkness
save whenever possible books of enlightens can only be used once
Chased by dogs into the dark, over a rusty nail and into a guard. Fantastic start 😂

Watching this on stream, I can confidently say that Fear and Hunger is one of the games of all time. Love the quick editing, btw! Both in the sense of it being snappy and also coming out so shortly after the vods.
The gameplay in this game is like ideal for any rpg to me. It gets even better in the sequel, as well as the entire ambience and world building, in my opinion.
Also, major respect for uploading this onto youtube, I hope it gets the good kind of attention from the youtube algorithm. Hoping for the best!

oh shiii- one of my favorite youtubers getting introduced to one of my game series. if 1 ever drains you enough you don't feel like continuing, you should check out the sequel. Termina is a much better- and less cruelly-designed game (still cruel tho)

I just really want him to play the Xenoblade games. I know for a fact he'd love all of them, they're right up his alley. Only problem is that they aren't on PC but I still really want it to happen

Honestly, I don't know how anyone manages to complete this game without a guide. I had maps, guides, I googled constantly and I STILL died a ton!

i dropped this game.
my experience: after a few super early deaths i tried to play safe dodge some enemies found the first safe(nope) place there were people talking save with no problems so this place is safe(nope), some progress tried to save again failed and a fight (ok i asume in this game every time you want to save you have to toss a coin) explore a bit more, find other beds but there is no point trying to save there if i have to toss a coin im going to do it in the "safe" place, im back time to save... nope fight the enemy, its a normal(nope, its a boss) enemy with a crow head maybe if i beat him i can save, hp "tails" -> normal(boss) fight, (repeat) "tails"-> "heads"-> normal(boss) fight, (repeat) ->...-> normal... you know what i think this is a boss fight can i run? ( nope), 3h 0 progess im dropping this.
too much RNG and i dont like guides
-want to play safe and atack arms first? nope this enemy you have to go for the body, how do you know? look a guide
- this safe place is not safe, you have to stop trying to save in the "safe place" and go for real safe places, how do you know there are real safe places? look a guide
- if you go there its instakil, look a guide
-can't open the cage? get better RNG
-even playing safe you miss? get better RNG
- a normal enemy maybe drops something nice, nope its mid-boss, how do you know that? look a guide.
if you tell me Get lucky and/or Read a guide is fear and hunger true experience, sorry but nope, there are better ways to make a game hard (for example darkess dungeon)
"How do you know?" through trial and error. You need to know what limbs to attack first, and you gain that kind of information through experimenting with fights.
If you can reach the hidden thicket it changes the whole game! You can get infinite lucky coins, making almost every coin toss a win (by using shift to use 2 coins at a time) changes the entire experience!
The bed you were trying to save at with the crow boss specifically warns you that it is only safe the first time, and dangerous the next. That is the only bed in the game that spawns a boss if you try to save at it & loss the coin toss after the first free one, so you could have gone for other options. The other save spots in the game do make an enemy appear if you fail the toss, however, it will only be an enemy that is currently within that room, so if you clear out the room you'd guarantee a completely safe spot. And the majority of the time, the enemy it would bring over would be way easier than the crow since that's basically an enemy you're intended to try avoid as much as possible in the dungeons unless you're in a *very* powerful position.
The cage could be opened with Lockpicking right away if you played Cahara and did burglary, otherwise with a small key (obtained through various means). You don't have to open it right away so you could come back when you have the ability to do so and want to free the girl.
There's been runs that beat the game even without getting any loot or getting any successful RNG, the game has a lot of strategy to but there's ways to decrease the luck involved such as the fact there are lucky coins (use on a coin flip to increase your chances) or the fact you can guard before a coin flip happens to dodge it entirely. Enemies usually give you some kind of warning before a coin flip happens, that's your indication to play it safe and guard. There is an NPC which you can talk to near the start you informs you of this too.
Also, if you try to aim for the head every time, you are going to miss, because you have to get rid of legs first in order to make the enemy lose balance and have a much easier time hitting the head. This is also told to you by that NPC, but you can notice this whenever you take out all the lower parts of an enemy.
Plus, running is an option in cases where fighting is a bad idea. Stealth is your friend.
Obviously these are easier to pick up if you just read a guide but there is lots of ingame information and the game is about experimentation in creative ways, there is so much you can do to get a better advantage and it isn't just "RNG".

The "censorship" mod seems to be done by Americans. Everything remotly sexual is absolutely evil, but gore is totaly fine. PRIORITYS!
I'm pretty sure this specific mod was made so streamers could play the game without violating TOS. I don't think the creator was censoring based on personal vews on whats evil.

But its strange to me how nudity on platforms like youtube or twitch leads to much more Demonetization than actual violence and gore....
