My Writing Style | Mary Alice Burt

Many people have asked how I came up with the style of writing I use. In this video, I share Ann Kiemel Anderson’s influence on me since I was a child. Her book, I'm Out To Change My World, had a deep impact on me as a child, I would spend hours copying the words in her book.
I’ve explained my style to myself this way: "Have you ever gotten dressed, looked in the mirror, and silently said, “Un-huh” only to put on something that feels right? That happens to me often when I write in paragraph style. It’s mostly an Un-Huh until I rearrange the words in a manner that feels right."
Now, 50 years later, I see Ann’s style reflected in my writing. Talk about the undetected power of influence!!
My takeaway for you is this,
do not underestimate what you model,
and live out without pontificating …
the atmosphere you create …
for it does saturate.
It may take years to surface but I believe it will come to expression in others.
