  • The Ohio School Boards Association suffered a cyber attack that disrupted their operations.
The cyber attack occurred on Thursday, August 9th at around 12:49pm. Hackers were able to breach the OSBA's network and systems. As a result, their website and email servers went down. This caused major disruptions as school was just around the corner from starting back up.
OSBA's CEO Kathy McFarland sent a letter to all 3,500 school board members informing them of the attack on Friday. In the letter, she stated that at this time they don't believe any sensitive student or member data was compromised, such as social security numbers or financials.
It's unknown currently if this attack is related to the massive data breach the city of Columbus suffered earlier this year that exposed sensitive personal data of residents.
