  • The outcome of a brain aneurysm rupture can be different from person to person. Finding help or accurate information can be difficult on top of the emotional toll it plays on everyone including family members and caregivers.
Scott Campbell shares his story with the Brain Aneurysm Foundation about his wife Cheryl's brain aneurysm rupture. He hopes his story of triumph and hardship can help others.

On Dec 19th, my husband had a brain aneurysm and he passed away on Dec 21. He stopped breathing on the way to the hospital and they had to intubate him. I think that he was gone then, but I gave the ok for the surgeries to stop the bleeding and to relieve pressure on his brain. Those were successful, but unfortunately, his brain herniated when the pressure would subside. After a series of tests, he was declared officially brain dead on Dec 21. He was an organ donor, and his liver and kidneys found donors. I guess I just held onto hope that he'd pull through, but his rupture was in the very worst place it could be, and if he had survived, it would only be in a vegetative state, which is what neither of us wanted. We were together 19 years and he would've been 63 on the 22nd. I'm happy that others were able to survive this devastating occurrence.

I am a ruptured brain aneurysm survivor and by the grace of God was fortunate to have been discovered by housemates unconscious for 2 days in my room and was brought asap to a nearby hospital where I have to undergo a CT scan and MRI diagnostics, then coiling/stenting procedure, this saved my life but due to weakness in my right side,I have to undergo lengthy sessions of physical therapy ,while I have survived the critical stage of aneurysm,I still experience a weakness in my muscles and have experienced right leg sciatica which has slowed me down.I wish to thank all the surgeons and medical staff of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital of Sydney ,Australia for their skills and expertise and to all the medical staff and physical therapist of the Balmain Rehabilitation Hospital for my physical rehabilitation .God bless you all .With this medical episode,It changed totally my lifestyle and is optimistic that I will be back with my different lifestyle in the near future . Have a healthy lifestyle everyone and don't forget to check your bp and visits to your doctor regularly .

With my mum , it's happened to her bleeding her aneurysm during surgery,it happened to her 1thMay2023،thanksgiving she had no complications ,😭😭😭,nearly 2 months ago. She was in a coma for 8 days ,then she woke up and couldn't move, she only opened her eyes and smiled, she was in ICU for 21 days. Now, after 7 weeks, she can talk a little, and they are doing intensive rehabilitation and physical medicine. She can sit now , she can't eat food at the moment. She forgot anything happened the day before. But that kind of memory comes and goes. She remembered most of the things in the past. Yesterday and today, we talked to her Dr's, and they said she is doing well. The CT scan they had from her Brian the other day , they said, showing the blood draining down. But it will still take a lot of time for her to recover. We have no choice but to support her and be there for her and give her a lot of love and hope to get recovering soon.

My father died of an aneurysm 12/31/2014. I was only 9 at the time. I just miss him so much. He went for surgery for his heart, he had afib, the surgery went through just fine. After the surgery he was not waking up. Me, my bro, and my moms side grandparents drove to Arkansas late on the 29th I think. I just wish that the doctors had looked at him before and after the surgery. I love you dad.

I'll pray for your family specially your MOM 🙏 i know what shes going through right now im been there and survived two operation i prayed she will do the same.
Im in the ICU for 3 weeks and 4 days on the ward before my Neurosurgeon, therapist , General Dr decided i am ready to go home even do i still have my doubled vision that causes Nausea, since my headache was tolerable i tried to omit taking pain reliever so i just take when i needed them .
Second week of May i was referred to an Optometrist some blood works specifically to check my Potassium level.
My Dear, i am still in a recovery and after 6 weeks being discharged from the hospital see my neurologists yesterday and we discussed what they performed and he showed me the pictures of my brain before and after the coiling and stent he explained what they did etc.

As of today what i can tell is.... my memory is not sharp as it used to be, i forgot some things and words even though it is already on the tip of my tongue , and my muscle is weak and easy to become tired .

My first aneurysm got brust in 2020 so pterional craniotomy and microvascular clipping was done. To prevent brusting of my second aneurysm stent (flow divertor) was implanted in 2022 but after somedays it got blocked and gave me ischemic stroke. Now I have 2 clips in brain's left hemisphere &1 stent in brain's right hemisphere.

Sent them an email inquring for specialists in my area. Never received an response.
    Another much smaller foundation responded.
    Stark experience speaks for itself.
It’s all about promoting and money.
