This video project started as a test of the effectiveness for using a drone to self-track my rides on a dual sport, while also experimenting with various camera angle approaches.

Great video! It's always cool to be watching something on RUclips and realize "hey, I ride that road too!" Looks like the drone did a great job of tracking you.

Thanks. This video required several takes with the drone to get sufficient footage). I have found using the drone to track you on the dual sport is tricky. I mounted the controller/phone to my tank bag, and then used fingerless gloves to check on it and tweak the controls while riding. The drone's (Mavic Air 2) speed to slower than the bike, so you have to be careful not to outrun it. Also, it can easily lose you in the ground clutter based on where you are riding and what you are wearing (reflective material on your riding jacket can help). But I will have to say its obstacle avoidance system worked pretty well and saved its bacon on a few occasions (such at the near miss with the tree at 2:35). Also, when the drone thinks the battery is low enough, it will try to return to the starting point, which now could be several miles away, so you need to be ready to stop, and override the controls to get the drone to land manually where you currently are.

If it's not top secret, can I ask what road this is? Looks like I'm within striking distance of that area and would love to explore it.

The dirt connector between Scott Road and Latrobe, with the tee junction at Michigan Bar road that heads south to the eventual pavement at Highway 16.
