Jessie is not an artist that sing the songs like the original version. Even her own songs she changes every performance to make the experience totally refreshing. In this performance she shows HER version of the song, there's no reason to just sing like Michael when she can make an amazing job singing with her own way, this is called interpretation
Yes of course she can make it her own. She didn't do a thorough job at making it that different first off, clearly most of it is JSUT like the original. Secondly I just didn't like the rendition, it's just an opinion. She's still an amazing artist lol those 2 things can be true at the same time lol u dont have to agree :)

exactly and i LOVED how she sang *both* songs [plus, she's a GUEST on that show, IN CHINA, and they may have made some 'suggestions' that she tried to honor, while still being herself as much as she could..also, there may have been time constraints].....anyway, like you said: Jessie J. is one of the few vocal artists who absolutely rearranges her *OWN* songs, to at least *some* degree, whenever she performs them..something i don't enjoy so much when i've heard other vocalists do it..well most of them, anyway, i don't enjoy it..i think it's because she's a singer who i could listen to sing pretty much anything - BECAUSE of her oh, so unique, vocal stylings..for me her voice, her vibrato, her tone, all combine to make hers a *healing* voice for me..her sound is just something my nervous system gets along with very well..i, literally, can *feel* her singing voice in the center of my belly, my chest and my throat..also along my spine at times..it's that whole kundalini~chakras thing, if i had to put words on it [which freaks a lot of people out, the East Indian words, i know]..for me, her frequencies are like magic!! 🧞♀️👸🏾🧞♂️🧙🏾♀️🧚🏾♀️🧙🏾♂️🧘🏾♀️

Not everyone is capable of adapting to different renditions. It was most likely too different for them to adapt to right away. I'm sure if they listened to it a couple more times it would grow on them :). It sure did for me.

As an artist, i think it’s okay for her to try new things, sing songs she has not done before or out of her comfort zone. She’s being creative to her craft and exploring more to music... and she’s not even michael j, so y hate tho lol.

Most of the performance was a copy, then when it wasn't, I just didn't like it. Had she changed the genre, the tempo, the notes, ok we can say she made it her own, but sorry, only her fans are saying that as a consolation. She did not really make it her own, and I just didnt like it. You dont have to agree. My opinion doesnt take away from her talent nor does it affect how much I respect and love her as an UBER talented singer.

M angel she wanted to give her own twist on the song otherwise it would just have been a karaoke performance. It was another crazy good performance imo.
I understand, but creativity doesn't mean automatic success. I personally didn't like it, if you do, that's great. And I said IT, not HER. So why the backlash? We all love Jessie J. We don't all have to love her performances equally haha.

I really enjoy watching your videos. But if you just listen to the rant at around minute 8:00 without having watched the performance you'd think JJ messed up BIG TIME. I've just started watching from episode 1 of this series on YT, fortunately they have eng captions. I've been enjoying it and find it interesting that each artist has a diff reason for joining, not necessarily for more exposure esp since some of them are already huge in China. If anything, they see it as a challenge to hone their craft. But it feels like Jessie is exploring her craft and seeing how it's received and also learning from the other artists. She looks like she's very comfortable, having fun and just doing her thing. (She didn't look as comfortable or stress free in Voice UK and Voice Aus where she had a bit of conflict with others on the show if I remember right)
I'm only up to ep 4 and she didn't seem all that bummed that she didn't finish first. If anything, that must have felt a bit uncomfortable ending up 1st for 3 wks in a row beating all the other Chinese artists in a Chinese show..
You might enjoy watching the whole episodes and discovering the other artists on it. Plus watching the interactions are cool too.
Thank you for actually watching the show. I know a lot of commenters spout nonsense without watching the show itself. It's pretty amazing how all the singers/artists approach their craft and the backstage banter is always a treat to watch.

I disagree. Most of the song she sang it just like the original, which is why we compare it to the original. She only took artistic liberties with the end, so it was a surprise. And I didn't like it personally, that doesn't mean I want people to agree with me. I love Jessie J and am a true fan now, and me not liking this arrangement doesn't mean I hate the artist. People confuse things and that's a dangerous habit.

Found this channel after getting obsessed with Jessie's performance on the singer show. Good job guys, I have watched quite a few of these singing video reactions for various artists and it's interesting to get a more considered opinion as just a layperson like myself. I wasn't a huge fan of this version from Jessie, I thought it was her weakest alongside the Chaka Khan cover. Which means that for almost anybody else the performances are impossibly brilliant. However I wasn't able to articulate why it didn't vibe with me, so good to understand a bit more from you guys.
Everybody has their thoughts and their own opinions. Not everyone is gonna agree to the opinion and thoughts of M-Angel and Ovela but at least respect their opinions and thoughts. I always respected what you guys think on your reactions. I always support you guys.
