It's NOT just two seasons though, there's a five episode OVA as well which came out later (and its probably the best part of the show, so don't miss it). Btw Rock speaks English, Chinese and a bunch of other languages. That's why his company sent him on the trip with the disk. He does some work as a translator for Balalaika (the blonde Russian mafia lady) later in the show. Also the main city, Roanapur, is in Thailand.
"Get Revy to DIE!", grins :D (seriously, Revy is arguably the best female character of all time, she's so awesome, scary and deadly, but so awesome, lol) season 1: Black Lagoon season 2: Black Lagoon: Bullet Barrage season 3: Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail ----------- sadly, this legendary classic anime is being forgotten now... ----------- Black Lagoon's 7 (out of 10) females have more testosterone than all of the human males on planet earth combined, if you want very strong powerful independent bad'ss girls, you got them all in Black Lagoon, lol ------------ The Lagoon Company ("Black Lagoon"): Dutch: ex elite force US soldier, african-american, always got a cool calm head, great leadership and very smart and intelligent, prefers to let Revy do the "dirty work" (killing), not getting his own hands "dirty", but when he needs to, he can really kick'ss too, being an ex elite force US soldier, founder and leader of The Lagoon Company (Dutch needed/wanted money/wealth after retiring from the US military, lol) “The Great” Rebecca (“Revy”) Lee "Two Hands": the poor ghetto street rat b'tch, chinese-american, born and lived (until she joined, the Lagoon Company) in a chinatown district in NYC, NY, US, being quite the criminal/murderer and wanted by the FBI and US Marshals, being one of "americas most wanted" criminals, and especially by the NYPD precinct near her home town area, loves guns and money, the "muscle/enforcer" of The Lagoon Company. Also, Revy's got quite the long sexy legs (and what a backside/big-booty too, grins), she's quite the athlete, able to jump really long distances, and is very agile, with gymnastic skills too, and she's also an excellent swimmer too, which is actually partly also why Dutch hired her, being mercenary pirates on the sea, having a good swimmer can be profitable and useful, which will come into play later Benny: jewish-american, got into a just a "bit" of trouble with his hacking skills (he probably hacked into the US government/presidency or something super serious like that, lol), while in college/university in Florida, US, with both the FBI and CIA, and the mafia, all wanting him, got saved/rescued by Revy, and has been with The Lagoon Company ever since, being a wanted man by the US government and the mafias in the US, he's the "tech" of The Lagoon Company: handles all of the tech: equipment, intelligence, and communication for The Lagoon Company (unfortunately, the anime doesn't have anything else on Benny, he's just "there" to handle all of the tech stuff and communications, we don't get any character development/involvement nor history/backstory from/of him at all, sadly. We never learn anything more about Benny in the anime, as he's an extremely minor character in the anime, despite being one of the "major" characters: a member of The Lagoon Company, lol) -------- Rock: a japanese business man, who gets mixed up in The Lagoon Company.... Rock was in charge of the special resources/materials division at his (now ex) company/corporation, so he knows his chemistry (elements, compounds, metals, minerals, and etc), this will have a somewhat minor role later on... -------- so, Dutch, Revy, and Benny are all americans (US), while Rock is obviously japanese (JP) -------- the setting is mostly in and around a fictional criminal underworld city, called "Roanapur", somewhere in SE asia, being the city at the intersection of 3 major trade routes, making it the popular crime underworld city that it is for criminals fighting for control over the 3 trade routes also time-wise, it's basically modern day setting, in the 90s (or late 90s, meh), but before 9-11 in 2001 also, you got the early days of the internet for their tech, as heard by the 'AOL dial-up sound' (bad memories, lol: bzbbzbzzzbzrrnnngng "you got mail", ugh! lol) when Benny connected them to Rock's company ---------- the MC is actually Rock, with Revy as the runner-up ------ While The Lagoon Company will serve anyone who pays for their services (as they're just pirate-mercenaries for hire, that ship/transport goods for profit, “delivery boys who’ll break the law on occasion” as Dutch describes his Lagoon Company very well), Hotel Moscow and Balalaika, pretty much controls/owns The Lagoon Company, as Hotel Moscow is a "good" side to be on (you don't want to be on Hotel Moscow's bad side / as its enemies, lol) and Dutch and Balalaika have some history too... ------ Roanapur is loosely/fragile'ly in a "non-aggression pack" amongst its 5 main controlling/power factions over the city: 1. Hotel Moscow ("the russian mafia"): Balalaika ("the russian b'tch" and "fry-face": her entire body got burned from a battle from either an explosion or chemical weapons, as seen by her face and chest, but also the rest of her body too, so that's why she's called "fry face") as their leader 2. The Hong Kong Triads: Mr. Chang as their leader 3. The Columbian Mafia 4. The Italian Mafia 5.
