Sports always came easy for Landry Jones. Everyone wanted him for their team. Everybody loved him. He had friends, girls-- the world was at his fingertips. Yet he still desired more.
Playing football at the University of Oklahoma was an easy decision to make-arriving on campus and discovering he was low man on the depth chart was another. He was no longer the star, no longer desired by everyone. After all, Oklahoma had the Heisman Trophy winner, Sam Bradford on their team. Landry was out of the spotlight.
Having his identity stripped away was a shock to Jones. He didn't know how to handle it which showed in a bad attitude and his pursuit of satisfaction in other things. But then came an encounter with God that changed his attitude, his focus, and ultimately his life.
He now has a new identity, one given to him by God.

I went to school with that dude. My close friends were his friends but I never really hung out with him. He was busy taking care of stuff and getting going on a scholarship. I was smoking weed and drinking.

ah oh hes talking about god .are the same tebo haters gonna say the same about him too? doubt it people just look for reasons to hate tebo but gotta say im happy we got jones would have been just as happy with tebow too.

I'm really not trying to be critical, but where does he talk about his salvation experience? I'm not saying that he hasn't had one, I'm just saying that he doesn't talk about it! Salvation through grace is one of the most important things within Christianity! And without Salvation, we as Christians, are nothing! It's fantastic that he is focusing his life upon God, but is it for the sake of himself, the sake of others, or for the sake of God? God is Love, God is Hope, and God is Faith, and personally knowing those things alone are why I serve Him! Not because I get something out of it! I'm glad that I am second raises greater awareness and attention towards Christianity, but I truly want to see people's lives changed through Salvation through Jesus Christ, and I want to see people live their lives not for themselves, but for God, and for others! My personal prayer for myself is that I no longer live, but he lives within me, and that I am no longer first, no longer second, but I am last! For he that is first shall be last, and he that is last shall be first.
Maybe sharing his salvation experience is not the most important part of his journey like it seems to be in yours. Maybe he feels it's something personal between himself and God.
Why get so caught up in the details? One of the biggest problems in organized religion is every sect believes their way as the one true way and they lose focus that all of Christianity share the same goal.
You talk about doing only what God wants, then proceed to tell us everything you want to see and basically tell us that you want others to experience Christianity as you have.
While that may have been the greatest experience of your life and you want the rest of the world to share that experience, you can't assume that others will experience it as you did if we simply follow the same steps.
Point being, I think you would agree that spreading the word of the Christianity faith is what is most important.
someone else may come along and say repentance, righteousness, or missions are more important.....and then we start down a big messy road right vs wrong, this group doesn't do this right, micro-analyzing the precise meaning of scripture etc etc.
He's also still just a kid and learning. We will never stop learning, I hope. For some it's more personal and some just don't have the words to explain what it is when you are saved. It's an individual experience, that SHOULD be between you and the Lord our God !
