just about to start my fixed wing after flying PPL(h) for the last few years, training at elstree great vid in what looks like a very capable aircraft.
Hi I had about 4 of my cross country flights cancelled due to weather and aircraft problems. So I know what it feels like but better safe than sorry and thanks for posting a great video I fly a cessna 152 and Savannah Stol
+GoPro Flight UK I was 2 flights off it, so all the prep was done but for matters I'd rather not say I decided to stop flying, but after a 3 year lay off I have decided to climb back on the horse and get it all done again. :)
10 times mate?? And i am complaining about 4 times :-). I am preparing myself for the 150nm as well. Nice video and keep on posting. Greetings from EDHE.
Yeah wasn't the best of take offs! This weather is killing me now, feels like forever since I was last up! Have you been up lately? Old park farm...I haven't heard of that! I need to do some research! :)
Its a bit hard to tell from a video but it looked like the sort of flat fianl approach more typical of a light aeroplane, which was probably more or less fine for the conditions but maybe would expose you to a nasty rotor over the trees if it was windier?
Great flying and radio work. I like the fact that you help the controllers by your timely transmissions! As as we get a break in the weather, I'll be doing my solo cross country from Durham Tees to Carlisle and your videos have been really helpful. One question for you. Which mount are you using for the GoPro at rear of the cockpit? I've got one camera and I've tried it fixed pointing forward, stuck on the Perspex but it's not the best place to put it. The rear view with the wide angle is the best perspective I reckon. Keep the videos coming, they're really well done :-)
+unixsystems Thanks for the comment! I am still trying to work on my RT its one of the biggest challenges I found to learning to fly! With regards to the rear fitted cam I use a mount like this...www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Handlebar-Camera-Seatpost-Clamp-Roll-Bar-Mount-Mounting-Adapter-f-GoPro-Hero-DE-/281749318892?hash=item4199916cec:g:Rd4AAOSwMmBVpRMA
Hi Matthew well done on starting! :) I can't remember exactly but I think it was around the 30 hour mark because I got delayed with the cross countries due to bad weather but carried on flying logging the hours!
john1428c hi john, I think I was around 30-35 hour mark as weather delayed my cross country flights for weeks but I continued to keep flying local on the days I could fly away, good luck for Saturday you'll be hooked instantly :)
Wow! 10 cancellations! I did my entire PPL (including theory) this summer in Hungary in 1.5 months. Weather does matter!

Thankyou! I was so nervous for my cross country! Have you got yours soon?

+LEEDS8 ahh that's great good for you! Hope it goes well! Once you taste flying you can't ever get it out of your blood! :)
+LEEDS8 I was the same. Thought I'd never be able to complete it. Now I have a share in an XAir Falcon Micro light airplane. I fly every chance I get.

Nice vid! You should hook up your ray allen PTT button on the front of the stick so you won't need to change hands to talk on the radio.
Thanks for the comment! I should have mentioned that day I had to use the other ptt switch because we had a problem with the stick button :)
Good on you for sticking with it! That C42 got up quick? 100bhp??
