Ah memories! I recall my little tartan skirts were attached at the waist with a white bodice that was hidden under mum's handknitted angora sweaters. She tied a handkerchief around her nose whilst knitting them.
Hi Lizann, yes all of the pleated skirts had a white bodice, I am guessing it was cotton or lawn , and then hand knitted jumpers or a cardigan that buttoned up to the neck. That’s hilarious tying a hanky around your nose I will hav3 to try that trick when I’m cutting out fur 🤣 have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕
Deb you are such a beautiful sewer. I love watching all your makes. The skirt and blouse were so beautiful. I love the Helmi blouse pattern and will eagerly await yours. Thank you for your videos.
So many beautiful makes Deb! So talented! We are getting the latest Cousette Bridget dresses in next week with English translations! They have updated most of their new patterns to English because of the popularity which is great. The new Cousette range of patterns coming in are so beautiful!!!! You'll love them :)
What a beautiful skirt! Love the colour! I have made the Patina Blouse in a Viscose and, while the fabric was a dream to sew, the blouse was a complicated make. That said, I love it and have worn it lots. Good idea to not have ufo's because they do just tend to sit. I think that I have 3 at the moment. Good idea to finish them and donate to charity. Love your work, Deb!❤
Thanks Alison, I think the finished Patina is beautiful but the neckline is not an easy sew, although not that many sewists have expressed this opinion. I can’t stand to have unfinished items, and I am always thinking someone could wear this even if it is not me. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕
Another great vlog, Deb! You’ve convinced me to purchase the Tommie Skirt pattern. I’ve had the Patina Blouse pattern for sometime and need to re-watch the sew-along video before tackling it. You’re so inspiring and your makes are beautiful. That blouse and skirt are just lovely❤❤. Thanks for sharing🪡✂️🧵😊
Thanks Barbara, I love the skirt and am thinking of making another one a bit shorter, probably in the Spring, the Stina Skirt has turned me into a skirt wearer, happy sewing, Deb 🪡🧵💕
Super informative video Deb. Great information about the challenges sewing the tensil/cupro mix, and the issue with the Patina blouse neckline. And of course it needs a sweary label😁. Fabulous result though Deb, gorgeous colour and lm so glad you love it. The skirt another win as well. Looking forward to seeing that lovely dress and fabric on camera.
Thanks Cat, I’m looking forward to sewing the dress, I think it will be a challenge but I’m up for it, best make the baby fur jacket first, have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕
Thanks for your review of the Patina blouse. I have made a short sleeved and long sleeved version. I used a medium weight John Kaldor cotton from my deep stash for my first version and it sewed like a dream but the second, in a beautiful lightweight Italian cotton frayed as I sewed it and because I started with French seams I felt I had to continue. It was a pain and I was relieved when I finally competed it! I always enjoy your vlogs.
Thanks Molly, did you have any issues with the back neck facing as I have found it to be very shallow for a facing which is why I will change my pattern to use bias binding on the back neck, it is a great relief when it is completed, happy sewing, Deb 🪡🧵💕
Love the Bettina blouse. I have bought the same fabric but haven’t decided what pattern thank you for all the tips, you always give helpful tips and advice.
Another interesting video, Deb. The Tommy skirt and Bettina blouse look great on you - such glorious colours! I am very interested to see how your French dress sews up. I hadn't heard of the pattern company so I had a look and some of their patterns are very pretty. And a little bolero in fur! How cute will that be! If you could bottle your productivity I would buy some. Best wishes Anne
Just a thought Love Notions Pattern have a child’s Vest called Acorn Vest, they also have it for dolls. It might be good for the vest you are going to make for the little one..
Hi Noeleen that’s the fur vest I have made 2 of in size 4 for my granddaughters, so I will be using this for a bit of a template for Mia’s tiny coat. I have the dolls one as well. Love Notions patterns for the girls and dolls have been very handy, every time I make a girls dress I make the dolls dress to match, I see Phoebe who is five changes her dolls dress all of the time to match her own. The dolls are 18” dolls called Our Generation, you can get them to match the child, I bought one that was white hair blue eyes and one that was auburn hair and brown eyes so it matches the child, I will need to buy one for Mia but she doesn’t have any hair yet so I will have to wait and see, she does have dark brown eyes but not sure what colour hair yet. I think I can make up a pattern that is a mash between the dolls vest and the girls vest and add sleeves, just need to shape the front to a curve. Great pattern the acorn vest, thanks for thinking of me, Deb 🪡🧵💕
Hi Deb Another lot of great makes. Your shirt is just beautiful. I will have to remember to go down a size when l make it. I made a Trudy Turtle Neck top today. I really like it, but it does feel a little clingy. So l may go up a size.
@dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668 l used a rayon spandex for a tester. But l have two merino wool fabrics. One is quite stretchy but the other not so much.
@@libbybennett3067 hi Libby the rayon spandex will be more clingy than a merino, but you can always size up and if you think it is too big you can always run in the sides, Deb 🪡🧵💕
Hi Deb, your vlog is full of interesting tips, thanks for sharing those. One being overlock the pattern pieces before starting to sew, with fabric that freys easily. Love the Bettinz blouse and the drape and flow of it! The deni skirt looks great on you, very well fitted and very o trend too. The slow sew dress will be eautifu, in the Atelier Jupe fabric. Where did yiu purchS2e that from? I missed the details of that. You have alot of plans for the coming week or so, have fun with it all. Hqppy sewing ! ❤😂
Hi Deb the fabric is from The Dahlia Sewciety, an indulgent purchase but I did need a winter dress, it’s so cold this year, maybe it is me just getting old 🤣 I need to get on with it so much to sew so little time, going to work just gets in the way, have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕
