I'm very late to the party, but just love these . I even miss my Hilux Invincible. Now I've gone soft and swan about in a Volvo XC90. Nobody should underestimate the time, skill and artistry that goes into making videos of this quality. This should have 10 million views.
Cheers Chris, I appreciate the comment! Most of the locals were using Volvos to get around those forest roads, I felt a bit over dressed with the Hilux.
@@Adventure-Outdoors I always felt overdressed in mine. Mostly used it for carp fishing trips, and a few mountain biking expeditions. The 25 mpg was the only downside.
Loved this series. The northern lights must have been amazing. Really inspiring to plan a trip like this myself. Looking forward to watching more of your channel. Happy travels.
I enjoyed this series. There are moments on trips like this, or even on day hikes, when you've got to just power through. I find you need to work hard for your pleasures and you need to be as strong mentally as you are physically
A thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining and inspiring video, would love to see you guys on the road one day, I hope that you have another overlanding adventure in mind.
Very nice, relaxing, excellent video. Thank you!! I´ve been following the same roads for the last 2 years, and have decided to do so each year. I did see moose and...a bear, near Jokkmokk, but I´ve been told I was very very lucky... A bit scary though :D
This series was great, I really enjoyed your personality and the filming was very well done. Started with your most recent and now will enjoy all of your past adventures. Thank you.
Thanks James, I appreciate your kind comments. We did put a fair bit of effort into this series, you might find our earlier videos a bit lacking to be honest! Cheers!
Absolutely cracking series, put together very professionally..... me and my wife retire in November so around next March we’re going up that way again, went as high as Bodo in 2019 .... got a 14 plate 110 defender now so wanting to do lofoton plus all the way up to nordkamp and kirkeness..... after watching your videos think we’ll head up that east coast and pick up your route, hopefully in March weather should be a bit warmer, best bit about doing it in our retirement is we’ve no time limit, hope to see more videos from you in the future ?
Thanks mate! Sounds like you have a great trip planned, having no time limit will mean you can really explore. Hopefully we'll be able to get back to Scandinavia next year, I'm interested in visiting Finland if all goes well. Atb, Ben.
Fred Jumayao Cheers for the comments Fred! Much appreciated. The truck was fine in the cold weather, the Hilux has two batteries under the hood so cranking power is no real issue. A lot of people get put off with the cold but it’s amazing how quickly the human body adapts to it, my wife felt the cold on this trip but it didn’t really bother me much. It was a great trip 👍.
Excellent video as always. I am extremely envious of you guys. We changed directions and have just bought a Motorhome due to both myself and my wife are disabled. We had hoped to do a DMAX up like your HILUX but it just wouldn’t work for us . We will be doing as much wild camping as we can but we will be able to sleep in a bed we can get into. Love your tours great filming , if you don’t put another one up this tour all the best for your next one.
Thanks! Yeah it's not much fun getting up and down a set of flimsy ladders every day, then there's the cold, lack of toilet/shower and constantly being at the mercy of the elements etc. I think I could've done this trip in a motorhome easy enough, the forest tracks were remote and some were overgrown but I never once put the Hilux into 4 wheel drive. Maybe Sweden could be the place for your maiden voyage! All the best 👍🏻
Great vid to finish the series off with the quality of the vids is fantastic love the ariel shots you get a real feel for how remote the places you camp at are stay safe guys look forward to the next trip
Fantastic what a laugh how pleased where you with that pizza lol😂 spot on guys. Great job on your equipment boxes, in the details. Terrific night sky with the northern lights how cool was that, loved the series very entertaining, respect bud and safe journey home. 'lycka till' 😉
Awesome video and very important for me. You already know I'm working on my F150 and want everything ready by next Fall. Sweden is the first on my list, then Norway. Keep up the great work my friend, you're helping us out here more than you know.
Thanks! It's a Snow Peak Fire pit, I bought it from these guys -www.drifta.eu/product-category/snow-peak/fire-pits-and-accessories/ but they're widely available these days from other sellers. Not the cheapest but it's very high quality 👍
Im loving this series - only one word for it - awesome! We all question trips sometimes and why we do it, but what an experience 😎 I love the way you guys travel, not full on eating up the miles just to get to your next stop, and taking time for decent meals and to soak up the area. Shame we didn't see your rod catch a fish on this trip, maybe on the next one? Out of interest, who make the fire pit/BBQ? Ps. Loving the branding 😉
Cheers Mark! The fire pit is made by Snow Peak, they're a Japanese company and the fire pits are made in Japan. The price of it made my eyes water but I ended up buying one after reading a few reviews etc., its made from marine grade stainless steel and folds flat so no rusting and warping etc. I bought the full kit from - www.drifta.eu If I get 20 years out of it I'll say it was good value 👍🏻
Cheers! It's a Snow Peak fire pit, I bought it from here - www.drifta.eu It's not the cheapest fire pit out there and I'll admit I thought long and hard about buying one but it is excellent quality. Folds down flat, made from marine grade stainless steel so won't warp and rust and should last good 20 years!
Hi Ben, I’m in the process of buying a Hilux. What sort of fuel figures do you get on these trips? How much range do you typically get on a full tank? I’m going back and forth between an Icon and an invincible but swaying towards Invincible because I don’t think the Icon has cruise control. Thanks, Max.
Hi Max, the fuel figures are around 28-30mpg (fully loaded with all our gear), but I always tend to stick under 60mph on the long motorway runs which helps. 70mph plus will see that drop a bit! Engaging low range 4 wheel drive also really uses the juice but I rarely travel more than a few hundred metres in that mode; to be honest, normal 2 wheel drive covers about 98% of my driving. Indicted fuel range is between 375-400 miles on a full tank. I think cruise control would swing it for me, plus the extra power you'd get with the 3.0L D4D in the Invincible; much more comfortable on 8hr + motorway runs on European motorways.👍
Nice. You even have your own pizza oven. Crazy :D Where did you get the outdoor kitchen equipment? PS it would be good if you put some frames of the map as well, where you are situated. Keep going
Cheers Ragnar 👍. I built the wooden kitchen, the pizza oven is actually the top half of a Cob oven! This was the first time I’d used it to cook pizza, it worked pretty well.

Wow amazing trip, can't believe how much you folks braved the cold weather, what about truck problems, battery etc.?

Nice one, but surely that means you'll be requiring a few pop over 3.5% before hand a pull out bar ?😎. thanks for reply😉
Excellent trip and videos! Keep it up! Thanks 😎
Cheers Roy 👍🏻
Thanks, another great series!
I’m always hungry after watching your videos :) take care and all the best !!!

Hi, awesome videos and adventure. I was wondering where you bought the foldable fire pit? Looks really handy! Cheers
Thanks! It's a Snow Peak Fire pit, I bought it from these guys -www.drifta.eu/product-category/snow-peak/fire-pits-and-accessories/ but they're widely available these days from other sellers. Not the cheapest but it's very high quality 👍
Nice movie! I gonna start to do some overlanding my self. Northern norway (troms and finnmark) and northern sweden. Lots of nice roads and spots.
Cheers Sven, good luck with your travels, plenty of good wild camp areas up that way 👍🏻.
Europe Overland Especially in Finnmark, miles of atv roads and good fishing spots
Have a look at the snow peak pizza oven, it fits on top of the fire pit.
Proper northern lad. 10 degrees, it's a bit hot, had to put a T-shirt on :-)
Our blood is a bit warmer than that southern stuff :-)
Fantastic
Cheers!
Thanks for a great episod. Norrlands guld is available in a stronger version at systembolaget. Regards Mattias
Thanks Mattias! I might have to check out that strong stuff next time 👍🏻🍻
Europe Overland If you are passing by south Sweden in the future your welcome for a cold swedish beer.
Fantastic reord of your trip - great job of keeping us inspired. Same question as below, where can i ge your fire pit/BBQ? Thanks Joe
Cheers Joe, I got the fire pit from these guys - www.drifta.eu
They cost the earth but it is a good quality bit of kit 👍🏻.
What month did the boreal auroras look at ?
Hi, it was late September 👍
thank you for another great series . where might your next trip take you . excellent work
Cheers Fred! Not sure yet, we may head back to the Pyrenees or Sardinia/Corsica next year 👍🏻.
Great work again! Also the missis asking what sunglasses you got on? Lol
Cheers Stephen! Lol, can’t remember where the shades are from, I’ve had them for years. I think they’re £10 eBay jobs to be honest.
Falukorv pizza :) have to try that sometime!

Really enjoyed the trip to Sweden. Where are you going next?.
Cheers Mark, not sure yet. Pyrenees again or Sardinia/Corsica maybe?
Europe Overland
We’re looking at Corsica for next year. We did Galicia this year, very nice, similar to Pyrenees but with a great coastline.
Surprised at the pizza. Nice.
Another great episode👍 Cant wait to go to sweden and norway agin next year🙂 Is you canopy a RSI ?
Cheers John! Yeah it's the RSI canopy, good luck on your trip 👍🏻
is that a protestant church ?
Haha its pop. Midstrength beer is available in the supermarkets but normal 5% you need to go to the government owned bottle shop
