Le 27 octobre 1962, au fin fond de la mer des Sargasses près de Cuba, un sous-marin soviétique et son équipage alors coupés de tout contact extérieur se font prendre en embuscade par les Américains. Après un long voyage sous l’eau et une panne de climatisation, l’oxygène se fait rare et les marins s’évanouissent à tour de rôle. Celui-ci doit impérativement remonter à la surface pour recharger ses batteries. Mais alors que le calme règne, le sous-marin se fait repérer. A bord du B-59, une torpille nucléaire d’une puissance phénoménale pouvant entraîner une guerre tragique. Pris en embuscade le commandant ordonne le mettre le feu mais alors que l'ordre est donné, un soldat présent à bord va s’interposer et prendre une décision stupéfiante.

October 27, 1962, at the bottom of the Sargasso Sea near Cuba, a Soviet submarine and its crew are cut off from all outside contact being ambushed by the Americans. After a long underwater journey and an air conditioning failure, oxygen is scarce and sailors faint. It is imperative that it surface to recharge batteries. But while calm reigns, The submarine is spotted. Aboard the B-59, a nuclear torpedo of phenomenal power which could lead to a tragic war. Ambushed, the commander orders fire but while the order is given, a soldier on board will step in and make a stunning decision.
