I can't believe how many vinyl records are at garage sales/yard sales and also at the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores, and you can find them still in great quality. I think it's awesome that you still have your record collection and have purchased some through the years. Thanks for sharing what some of these songs/records mean to you. Vinyl collecting rules! Great taste in music.
I love that you love vinyl. We have a very similar collection! I have a 1960's Magnavox suitcase record player. It's always great to see people enjoying this medium of music!
I miss records. The packaging art was the most fun too. 8 tracks actually IMO had some advantages over cassette tapes. "Portable" was not one of them. Both collections I inherited I kept safely tucked away just for sentimental reasons. Then gave to a collector that would both enjoy them and care for them. I still have a retro Kenwood cassette player CD/changer combo in my work truck. I really enjoyed the long drives with my dad in his welding truck as basically a kid. In the summers I was his helper from around 12yo onward. It suited me as a person so chose to do it for a living too but made the same deal with our kids. You must and have to learn to weld as a backup trade....then we will support whatever it is you *want to do.* Even our daughter can weld and helped put herself through nursing school with it as a TIG welder. Naturally a tiny young lady so "tiny" welds suits her best. 😂

very nice collection! just a FYI, if you put the sleeve inside the folder with the opening up. the record won't fall out. and then it's easier to take the record out of the sleeve without putting any dirt on the surface of the vinyl.

Funny story I accidentally sent him cash via paypal years later when i was trying to transfer to another friend with a similar name and when i call the owner he was totally cool and sent the money back. So crazy and such a small world!
If you put the record into the inner sleeve, you should turn it by 90° so it won't accidentally fall out when you handle it - and it will provide an excellent dust protection!
This was a great idea for an ASMR video. I always enjoy videos that have a sense of purpose over just random movement and noises. Also, your hair looks super cute tucked over to one side like that!

Kiss "Destroyer" would have been the last record I'd expect you to have. Great story about playing the song Beth with your dad. I wish you had shown more of the Eagles "Hotel California" gatefold. That has a notorious history!

Newbury comics isn't just in MA I've been to one here in CT. I don't know how many are here but your right you can end up spending a lot of money there. I also have the exact same record cleaning kit. Works really good.
Nice asmr vid. Even brand new records should be directly wet cleaned! The factory uses a little bit fluid, to gently loose the records, after they have been pressed. It will be better for playing the record, and for longer life of the stylus tip.😉
I'm curious, what kind of a ring light are you using for your videos? It seems like it does a very good job at what it's supposed to do. Also, do you record your videos with a DSLR or a video camera?

we both share an eclectic taste in music. i used to collect a lot of music cd and dvd movies and it was a fun hobby but i felt like my life was a clutter so over the span of 2 years i ended up selling them and giving away some
I've noticed a lot of ASMRtists seem to have their microphone backwards (or their video flipped horizontally). In this vid I noticed when you pulled the cloth off the microphone the sound went from right to left as you went left to right.... it would have a greater effect (for me, i assume for others) if the visuals from the viewers perspective tied up with the audio. Not criticism because it was a great vid, just a suggestion to further improve your vid :)
When I went to Boarding school in North Brookfield, me and other kids could go with a staff member to the Nearby Newberry comics in Worcester. Ahh good times, good times!!

SirTots $60 to $70 dollar phonographs are usually the minimum, but they aren't great record players. Some go past $200. Personally I use a vintage fisher studio standard phonograph. Anything saying "fisher studio standard" is usually a good phonograph, can be pretty expensive though

Spread wood glue with a card on your skipping record in a layer around the whole record, let dry and peel it off. I should clean it up.
