I finalllly got around to cleaning my beauty room and im excited to say that i finshed...sorta lol you'll see as you watch the clean & declutter with me. This is the first step to the next few videos of me cleaning up my beauty room. Cleaning and having adhd is so hard! I literally will take a full day to finish a cleaning task unless im feeling suppper good then we can get it done! I hope you enjoy!! I love declutter videos!!
My best advice is to remove it all & organize it and then put it back. It makes a bigger mess but it’s always worth it!
& I totally get the thing about everything having a story or not wanting to get rid of them. For me
I think it’s because growing up we didn’t have money so now that I have money to buy things I am attached to everything.
& I am bad at using things I buy thinking I should save them for another time but lately I have been trying but it’s such a hard habit to break.
I am so scared I’m going to end up on hoarders but I’m very clean and organized lol & makeup and craft things are my weakness. . Like I legit have over 400 colors of glitter and 100’s of tumblers and canvases! I am great at making things but not great at selling I feel bad charging anyone anything.

Girl. I feel like if my room is a mess, my life is a mess. But my room always emd up getting messed up. I love watching you declutter. It motivates me to do it as well.
My sister in law teaches her nieces a cute little rhyme "if your room is a mess, your hair is a mess. If your hair is a mess, your life is a mess. So, if your room is a mess, your life is a mess"

So we just got back from a mini vacation and unpacking is the worst! On top of that, my house was already messy because I didn’t have time to clean up before we left. So this morning when I woke up I told myself I would eat breakfast then start cleaning and doing some laundry…. I watched your video while eating breakfast and was like screw it, rest today, do it tomorrow. Then after your video it gave me motivation to clean 🤣

I give you props for giving stuff away even if it’s a little bit at a time because we often tend to hold on to things longer than we should due to how limited we were growing up. However if you are becoming too cluttered it might be time to work on some systems to avoid it getting overwhelming like a schedule. I do a rotation of my things every season and I ask myself have I used it? What date will I use it by if I have not? If I get rid of it today will I notice it tomorrow? Do I see myself using it more than one time? Does this represent who I am today? Then slowly get rid of things even if they are new or hardly used. If you see value in things you might consider selling the ones that are new or making surprise boxes and sell them for like a set price if you don’t just want to give them away or throw them away. You’d be surprised how fast you learn to be minimal if you focus on the systems rather than the amounts. Hope these tips work 😊

A decluttering 1x a year is good. But youve said it before, you have a hard time letting things go because you never had much growing up. Thats understandable.
My "collecting" was Starbucks cups. Then it got too much so I started selling them on Ebay. Mugs is a huge one as well. I havent bought any in a long time but I have a hard time getting rid of the ones I have! I think I have at least 60mugs 😳 and I also buy a ton of self help books 😂 also stationary but ive stopped buying so much and just use what I have. NO MORE COLLECTING FOR ME 😝 and I do love makeup but I have a good size makeup collection. So im good. And makeup is so dang expensive i cant afford that hobby!😅

No one I watch has the full on beauty room and tons of makeup anymore. Also I feel when you grew up with nothing and you get older you become successful you can buy your self whatever you want or get gifts to me the gifts I hold more precious than what I buy and don’t want to get rid of because I never had that when I was little nobody ever gave me a gift so being in a healthy relationship with family and husband I can’t throw tissues away 💀. Now I’m older and I buy every damn thing I want 😭 mind you I’m a stay at home mom hubby works hard and has blessed me giving me the opportunity to raise my kids and spoils me. I literally keep everything. It just means so much more. And then we look like hoarders.

I also have OCD and separation is hard for me. I find what works best is having bins or bags where I can put similar items or items that belong in a similar area of my home together and it makes it that much easier to want to put them away. It also feels like I am not running from the area I am cleaning/decluttering and getting annoyed or tired with going back and forth. Another thing that helps me a lot is having some sort of music or visual on I forget everything around me and focus on the audio visual and the cleaning/decluttering. Honestly I was a hoarder then had a mental breakdown then gave away and threw out soooo much stuff and it felt so liberating!! Maybe do some giveaways or donate to women's shelters, it may help with the hoarding. Anyways so much love being sent to your way 💕

A lot of times when people grow up not having much they grow up and hoard things. I’m the same way. Everything has sentimental value. There’s nothing wrong with that, but every now and then I do have to clear out and de clutter too.

Alexis! If you still have your cube unit shelf you used to use, why now set it up to the days of the week and fill it up with makeup products you want to try and use for a video ? And then just fill it at the end of the week? I mean you could really do the whole month lol or even just follow it in a row no need for days but just go in order. I feel like it would help you not forget what you got and also maybe keep your Beauty room clean ? Love ya! 💗

My attachment to items is just like yours 😭 i will only declutter if I’m in the most dissociative state of mind which is sad but it’s easier for me to let go of items and also the packaging of items 😭😭 but slowly but surely we will get better!
