- Many of you have noticed that Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is supported by Ridley Scott Associates. Today I’m proud to reveal what that means.
Over the past few months, I’ve written and directed my first short film with the support and guidance of RSA Films.
It tells the real story behind ZAU, showing how hard it is to reach out. To try to connect to others while you’re going through it. To make the choice to be seen.
I’m honoured to share this piece of myself with you now. It’s the ideal primer for Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, and it’s my love letter to my father and to everyone out there who holds the pain of loss in their heart.

I recently lost my Dad this March and I am still processing it. Thank you for sharing your story as helps me heal on my journey as well.

You lift up so many with your journey, Abubakar Salim. Thank you for sharing this with us. From one African son to another, I feel what you intended us to feel; the weight of what your Baba meant to you.
I don't care what the game is.. I mean I will find it and look for it, that's not what I mean by "I don't care" .. it's this celebration of family, this respect in loss in .. I can bet my last drop of water in the desert Abubakar has things about his dad that frustrated him to no end... but... this is family, this is celebration, and healthy greif and beautiful. I wish him success not just for his respect, or understanding but clear passion the world needs more of. Simple self expression that isn't in defiance of tradition or some standards and if it's profitable/marketable... but just because it is.
This is beyond powerful. It reaches so far. This is a timeless moment. Thank you for this.

Absolutely beautiful. My mom died four years ago and I still don't think I've fully processed it. I admit, I'm envious that you've been able to make your game, but I say that from a place of admiration. The game looks brilliant and I will absolutely be buying and playing it. Outstanding work. Got me very emotional as I've lost in the same way, and my main motivation to become an indie developer is inspired by my love of gaming which my parents supported.
You found that statue hidden within that granite block of grief and you have begun chiseling. I can't wait to see it free and unveiled. Best.

Absolutely amazing! Your daughter will love this as she gets older to see how much you love her and how much you loved your dad. I started crying when you said she would point and say Babu. The energy of those lost are never really gone and sometimes we can still recognize it in the world. Beautiful work, Abu ❤
