It’s just a warmup to the REAL plot, shit in season 2 hits different than the rest of the show especially the International Assassins Arc. That’s why chainsawman was on the top of the manga list for a awhile.
Denji basically used everything he learned with his training, better combat, using his wits (making sideburns focus on his head), chainsaw feet (last episode we see Denji's pants ripped apart, showing how he's learned this move in his training), and Kishibe's wise words
What I appreciate is that they didn't go through some long lengthy training arc like a lot of animes do. They showed you the important parts and kept it where it felt long enough but not short enough where nothing happened.
Denji is a Very quick learner! Not necessarily smart at the beginning but he's picking everything up fast. When his one brain cell splits into two he's going to be very dangerous
And so we reach the best tournament arc in anime history. This episode was nonstop fire, the CGI looked so much better than it has in previous episodes, and that whole sequence on the train was elite. Fucking loved the camera work - a lot of really impressive, cinematic shots. I'm loving that MAPPA is giving us a lot more of the little slice of life moments, like in this episode with the ending song and the anime original sequence of Aki smoking Himeno's cigarette. If I remember correctly, Aki is never depicted smoking again after this arc, implying that he kept his promise to Himeno (that the cigarette she gave him would be the last he ever smoked) like you guys guessed. I'm surprised they gave us that little teaser for the next arc at the end, but I'm very excited. This was a really good stopping point imo, circling the whole season back where it started, with Denji dreaming of the door. I've loved watching this show alongside you so thank you for the reactions each week and I can't wait to see you react to season 2 if we get one as well. Big question of the day; if Denji cut Katana Man in half, where the hell did Katana Man get his intact underwear from?
@@TGLReacts hopefully you are right, MAPPA themselves have expressed a desire to adapt everything written by Fujimoto which is reassuring. But I'm always cautious with these things after what happened to Attack on Titan (4 year wait) and One Punch Man (second season given to a much lesser studio and ending up being really mid), and both those shows were at the time of their first seasons about as popular in the Western anime community as CSM is now.
fun theory: the violence fiend is possessing Arai's body. In summary without going into spoilers, in the opening at the time of the cinema, Violence is the only thing missing but Arai is there, in *that ending (violence) everyone from the original group is there (Kobeny, Himeno, Power, Aki, Denji) only Arai that no and for some reason Violencia is among them.
Nobody who hyped it up expected the full hype to live up by the end of the first 12 episodes. We all knew it would send out the first shockwave on episode 8, and it did. The show started there because it's written with meaning and intent and it didn't feel the need to rocket launch you in the plot without laying the groundwork. It'll pay off at the end. Plus, realise that Part 1 is just 97 chapters long and when it came out, most manga readers literally devoured it. I think I started reading it one night during the pandemic, after weeks of hype exposure and came out the next day a different person 🤣
This first season only adapted 38 out of 97 chapters which make up CSM part 1. All the realy deep and hype moments are still to come. Also given your thoughts and expectations at the end, Fujimoto has you right where he wants you to be at this point of the story
What makes the series stick out for me is how narratively quick paced and dense it is compared to other battle centric series that ran in Jump. The entire Part 1 of CSM is shorter than the Hueco Mundo arc in Bleach chapter-wise and about twice as long as the Shibuya arc in JJK. But it still manages to have 4 major story arcs, large cast and pretty well developed characters. A lot of it comes from properly fast pacing, there are no tournament or training arcs and no individual fight lasts more than 2 chapters. And it properly uses past scenes as setup for new ones, like the nut kicking in both episode 2 and 12 to show how Denji and Aki bond to together.
your subtitles are heavily flawed. the line with Power should have been the clue. she says “these, we can defeat!” but yours were “we can’t defeat them”.
The thing is there is more depth to the story but saying what about would partially spoil it, very much like trying to explain why attack on titan is so good to someone on season 1, you wouldn’t want to ruin their experience of the REDACTED reveal
watched this fucking anime like 12 times already, bought all the manga available.. MAN. i can't watch until they actually get to fight the gun devil (and get the coochie)
I hope season 2 adapts all that is left of Part 1, because some later arcs will cause awe, sadness, happiness, fear, anger, and anything else you can think of
Also question, if you're a manga reader is Part 2 the same story as Part 1 just continued or is it a different cast/time skip (e.g. tokyo ghoul into tokyo ghoul re)? If it's too much of spoilers then ignore this lol
@@TGLReacts 58 (season one covered the first 39, and there are 97 chapters in part 1) which, if they do 24 episodes instead of 12, is definitely possible, and i hope it happens
@@TGLReacts only two characters from part 1 have appeared in part 2 (denji and someone else you haven't met yet), but part 2 begun like early 2022 and for a big part of it, 1 chapter came out ever two weeks, so we could get more returning characters, and for the story, it's a continuation of part 1
Just wait till Jojo part 7 gets animated, its super hyped and hopefully lives up to realistic expectations, but has potential to be the anime of the year due to it being the most bizarre adventure thus far...until part 8 and 9 is animated lol
The reason season 1's story didn't feel that deep is because, as expect of the first season, it's mainly just set-up for season 2. That's when the story sky rockets.
@@TGLReacts Don't mean to overhype but Tatsuki Fujimotos stories always in the end give me this weird sort of catharsis and they make me rethink life in all the ways and chainsawman is no different! These 12 episodes kind of just set up the world of chainsawman. There hasn't been many pieces of media that have made me think as much as the backhand of the chainsawman manga
I appreciate one huge part of your comment, how you say these 12 episodes set things up, because unlike many fans of the show you realise at this point in time we haven't seen all that much but that will change with season 2 onwards. Always glad to see fans of a series that also understand it takes time for others to experience what you already know
This anime is really polarizing. Both in people complaining about writing and there's a petition in Japan for a different director to take over because Japanese fans say the voice acting isn't directed properly and the show doesn't embodie the manga. It's apparently doing poor in physical sales over there
I have mentioned in the past that pochita when denji found him was hurt and a chainsaw devil can't be a small dog , that doesn't quite fit the description on a devil that we have been provided with through visual evidence. So i think Pochita is actually a very terrifying devil and maybe in a battle with someone it got hurt and was forced to hide its presence and become the cute lil poochi. And the door in the end might be a mental concept. Pochita telling denji not to open it and let the real destructive side of pochita come out. How will that affect denji? Maybe evil pochita will just take over denji's body. It seems like pochita itself sealed that evil part and now i think denji will have to deal with it as well. Is it possible that everything is going according to makima's plan? Attack on special division , weeding out weak devil hunters , and since people had gun contracts , they got enough gun flesh now to chase gun devil. Maybe Makima doesn't have a contract with gun devil but she wants to get close to it?
Honestly the "suicide" part made me feel like makima was connected to that, she didn't want info on gun devil getting out. No idea how she did it tho lol
@@TGLReacts yeah it's very clear. Makima knew snake girl's name but still didn't kill her , some people said that in manga it's said that using ghost devil made the girl bleed out of her nose. Maybe Makima didn't kill her cuz if she escaped Makima could use har again but if she gets caught , it's suicide
Kelvin i know you're not coming back from a vacation, just admit it, you missed a few episodes because you were in the hospital for barking at himeno too many times, didn't you?

They seriously don't see the depth of it still? Do they even watch anything besides fight scenes? And can we have them shock collared so it will zap them every time they say "simp"? Would be a nice addition to season 2 reaction.
It's not the deepest show (YET anyways) and that's okay, that said we've analysed many emotional or impactful scenes that it presented throughout so I don't get your problem?
@@TGLReacts ignore the blatant hater, even manga readers agree that up to this point not much happened storywise. Also it’s not wrong to call Denji a simp.
