    Hello, nice video. I can tell that the container that you're hooked up to is a refrigerated type. J B Hunt has at least 2,100 refrigerated containers, with the newest ones in the 569100's. You are in an excellent location to see the newest containers. J B Hunt first started purchasing refrigerated containers in March 2010, with container 567000.

      Lemme know how you like working the port. I’ve heard it’s up and down in terms of $$. Some days you can make $400, others $200...depending on wait times getting in and out.

    Do you think that intermodal is good for beginner truckers? Schneider intermodal is now hiring new CDL holders

    • @thezentrucker
      @thezentrucker 3 года назад

      It’s no better or worse than other trucking gigs for new drivers. First 6 months is a challenge no matter what job you get. Learning to drive in weather and hills takes time, learning the logistics of any specific job in trucking takes time. Big challenge OTR is managing your clock and planning where to shut down every night. Big challenge for new driver in intermodal is that you hook and unhook many times each day...so lots of opportunities to make expensive mistakes. Also, LOTS of backing in tight yards.
      I’d say try it and see if you like the work. Schneider does a really good job training new drivers. They won’t turn you loose if you’re not ready.

      Steel toe, no slip work shoes are recommended and encouraged. Most days I wear steel toe, no slip shoes that look like sneakers. When it’s rainy, wet, cold, etc. I wear my heavy duty Timberland work boots.

      @thezentrucker 3 года назад

      Nope. No contract at Schneider. Honestly, though, contracts don’t mean anything. Not like a company owns you or can avoid paying you based on a contract. Labor law supersedes any contract.

    Is it true there’s a lot of issues with containers damaged that slows you down? I’m a tanker yanker but won’t mind trying something different.

    • @thezentrucker
      @thezentrucker 3 года назад

      I wouldn’t say a lot of issues. But you definitely have to inspect every chassis before rolling. And when pulling mtys gotta inspect the box.
      Every once in a while, l have to flip a loaded onto new chassis or get a repair done before rolling. More issues with mtys, but there’s always other mtys to grab...just takes 10 mins instead of 5 mins to find a good one b
