Yeah your completely right the max you can level up a stat is 255 if you go past that it goes back to one which is definitely what's happening when you tame stuff
I usually run at high-max settings. I would run at max settings but it only gets like 60-100 fps and that feels laggy (nasa pc problems ik) so i turn the settings slightly down to achieve 200+ fps
