Gazi Osman Pasha successfully defended Plevna for a total of 143 days during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878. This prolonged and challenging defense is a testament to his military genius and leadership abilities.

I have a great interest in the ww1 Ottoman army,and thus many books. I have always thought that though it failed the 1915 attack by three strong columns on the Suez Canal was an amazing military feat. Just getting there was an awful hardship.
