Oh my goodness, I was so locked in looking for the voice director that I didn’t see! That’s awfully kind that HeR paid him tribute in that way - I can’t say I’ve ever met an ND fan with such a deep love for the games as Andrew did. Miss you king 👑
Literally driving to another state tomorrow and spending the weekend at my sister's place so we can binge-play 7 Keys for the first time. We're both closer to 30 than 20, but you better believe a new ND game is enough for us to put adulting on hold for 3 days. Priorities.
I believe you’ll find it way better than MID, but still a bit lacking compared to 1-32. But if you and your sister are anything like me and my brother you’re gonna have a blast playing a new ND and solving some hardass puzzles - excited for you :}
Vote 4 Holt! I'm late to the game because I wanted to finish the game myself before watching your walkthrough, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed watching the three of you play / comment on the game together and I'm thrilled to see that you all are taking on The Silent Spy, as well. You really make a solid team! Looking forward to seeing your eventual review of KEY. :)
Glad you enjoyed! Sorry that the review on this one is taking so long, we had an idea that we wanted to make it a livestream with some other ND channels were friendly with but the stars have not yet aligned
For how Nancy knew that Vladena had Leo, she said to Vladena that she couldnt get in the vault with just the keys because there was like the key holder identification technology. Vladena responded “I have everything and everyone I need.” Kinda vague but thats what I figured
I loved watching you guys play though!! This game wasn’t my favorite but I big improvement over MID. I wish it had focused a bit more on the history side and had us solve a few more puzzles related to finding physical keys instead of pages to recreate them. The map also felt weird with a majority of it not being accessible at all and so many doors that couldnt be opened including no access inside the castle or the clocktower
Interesting info in the credits: Elka's full name is Eliška. And Radek's surname is given as Nepovím, which I'm pretty sure literally just means "I won't say" lmao 1:29:40 Lost opportunity not to put Elka in a proper Slav squat here. Heels ON the ground, queen, your proverbial crown is falling. I honestly dig the fact that both Vladéna AND Elka were playing one another, and each of them apparently thought she was the real mastermind here. Two puppets pulling each others' strings. That's a pretty interesting dynamic.
You probably figured it out by now but when Nancy told Zlaty she’ll need more than the keys to open the vault (cause earlier we found out that not only are the keys needed, one of the key holders is also necessary cause they have like a biometric key inside them or something), Zlaty said “I have everything and EVERYONE I need.” Meaning she has the keys and one of the key holders. That being Leo.
1:11:00 The singing in Russian is so funny omg!! I played this game the moment it came out on Steam, then immediately watched this playthrough. You guys have made the experience so much better. They credit multiple studios (1:46:02). They still outsource most of the work, so each studio has their own creative director, and the positions are broken up by studios, not by their specialization. I did some digging into it because I was surprised to see so many Eastern Slavic names in the credits. I hated the music in Zlatý's store too. I wish they had something more flavourful. "Old Town Night" was the best, but I wish they had more tracks like that. Czech people create awesome games with awesome music. For example very popular Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Also, there's the studio Amanita Design, which makes point-and-click puzzle adventures. Pilgrims and Creaks are both 10/10. These games have the Czech vibe that this game is mostly lacking. Some of the puzzles remind me of the good old times. The computer unhacking or whatever is very good. Pointing lights to open a secret passageway was perfect. The Bento door to release the cat was good, but they didn't test it well enough. Also, it's so weird that they throw shade on the Czech police for no reason! And it's weird that Adela thinks she's not good enough for a shiny thing because her ancestors weren't nobles. Girl what? To conclude this essay I wanna share an old Russian meme about alchemy. For some context: there's this dude who apparently using alchemical knowledge grew a small human in a chicken egg. There's a 20 second video on YT "Гомункул vs русско-китайский словарь". It makes me laugh to this day.
Had you not told me I may have never know that there is a "uniquely Czech" style of game, because I agree that this game didn't have it. Pilgrims and Creaks have both made my list now. Also yeah, that is hella weird how they just went for the jugular badmouthing the Czech police. Lmfao wtf was that video? I had to copy paste every word of it from your comment, still worth it
@@vote4holt Oh man, I spent the whole night down that "гомункул" rabbit hole. This guy has created a series of experiments, and turns out there are English subtitles and comments now. This meme was insane enough to make it big lmao
I think the reason why people are saying that the ending was controversial is because there’s a bonus puzzle at the end where you figure out who owned the original necklace, but it’s super hard to get and the people that got it aren’t sure how they triggered it
I’m sooo upset that I haven’t been able to watch this series 😩. I wanna play it myself first, but haven’t yet. But Nancy Drew 34 in the books by the clue crew. Congrats team 🎉
Midnight in Selma lmao Yeah, it’s easily in my bottom 5 for the series, possibly above games like MED and DAN but I’ll have to soul search about that, To me, it’s proof that the games can be good again, and that has me excited. I plan to make a long video eventually detailing everything this game got wrong and how game 35 can be even better.
I'm pretty new to the Nancy Drew series, but I have to agree about Mystery of the 7 Keys seeming pretty mediocre. The storytelling and pacing were *pretty* rough, especially compared to Sea of Darkness (the only other full series I've yet watched). Time and location were almost-jarringly inconsistent in a handful of transitions, and the pacing of reaching and completing the last "act" felt really rushed. As an outsider, it almost felt like mystery-storytelling was secondary to the puzzles and a shiny new engine, though I'll have to watch more to develop a more thorough opinion!
There is a dedication to Andrew Baldwin in the credits. It really made my heart happy to see that.
Who were they?

As for the ending Ive heard there is something you can do before calling Ned or Carson but Im not sure what.

1:18:42 reminds me so much of the whole “this is just another clue, the treasure’s somwhere else” lie Ben tells Ian at the end of National Treasure
Yeah I got the same vibes honestly, we need a Nancy Drew national treasure crossover
