      Australia's plan should be seen as part of those of the wider West plus its East-Asian allies to counterbalance China and maintain peace and the rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific. Australia, with its 27 million inhabitants, would never be able to deter China on its own. But together, they might. Let's hope peace remains.

      @siciliaussieguy Australia should develop the MQ28 ghost bat drone into a long-range bomber varent that can do 10.000 nortical milies like the B1B and not like the little pissy things they are building that have no more range than a F35 that has a similar payload. Australia might have some good engineers and has quite a good GDP, but the defence planners are a dam fool. Strait out of collage with no strategic knowledge on how to fight a war. Most people know whoever controls the sky will win. It's what won the war in the Pacific during ww2, not ships. If you have long-range stealth bombers flying at altitudes above 130.000 feet like the airliners, all armed with 20 or so anti ship missiles each and firing a few hundred kilometres away from its target The enamy is not going to have a fleet of ships for very long. Are they? You have to outsmart the enamy. Going into a ring playing by a set off rules, it can be anyone's game.

    • @Nathan-ry3yu
      @Nathan-ry3yu 9 месяцев назад

      @siciliaussieguy I agree. But nothing has been delivered. The issue is the government. Australia has been stuck with a 20 to 30 year gap. According to the delivery process for completion of what they have ordered, that continues to be delayed. It won't be until the 2040s and 2050s until Australia has full capability of its defence review. And it will probably change in between. Setting back further delays. If you can't bring a capability into service. Within a decade into full service. 60% of that will change and remain only on paper without being delivered. with a new development and strategy taken its place repeating the previous problems

    As an Australia, we were going to spend 90 billion on French Submarines, canceled, and we ended up paying close to a billion in settlement fees. We could have built two complete modernized fleets of PT(Patrol Torpedo) boats, 5mm(0.196in) steel hulls, with a Kevlar lining, running 3xE85 Barra engines doing 40+knots to protect our coasts. The navy could have gone a recruitment spree eased unemployment and implementing mandatory four year service for 18-40 year old's. But ah, common sense isn't to common these days. The latest announcement by the federal government is great if it addresses one of the core issues with the ADF and the RAN in particular is the lack of personnel. More people are leaving the navy than are joining. Simply throwing money at the RAN and procuring new ships does not solve this basic issue - a lack of sailors. It is a grass roots level problem. Most of the ADF personnel have lost faith in the federal government and feel a lack of moral support from all the government bodies and law makers. Granted greater automation and advances in technology all help manning issues, but if you read between the lines new ships are unlikely to arrive in Australia before 2031 - far too late. This government missed several golden opportunities to have 3 new Hobart class destroyers built by Navantia in Spain delivered by 2030. Instead this government has persisted with the Type 26 frigate program which is way overbudget, now up to an expected increase of up to 5 billion per ship with the first being delivered after 2031. Similarly, it would seem that the federal government is unable to procure ships through multiple ship builders as well as ensuring our own ship building industry. With the governments track record of wasting money, dithering and basically mismanaging the contract and procurement process it is unlikely there will be any movement soon. Worse, the federal government will make really poor ship choices and the navy will end up with a bunch of expensive lemons. When will they start to actually wake up and buy off the shelf designs that meet the needs of the RAN rather than persist in making changes to less than ideal ships. Just look at the Type 26 frigates for example - was originally 8.000 plus Tonnes now. estimated to be over 10,000 tonnes. The accountability has gone out the window and the blame lays at the feet of the government and the ministers responsible for the respective portfolios.

    • @Nathan-ry3yu
      @Nathan-ry3yu 9 месяцев назад

      Buddy, what you see on RUclips or the news isn't always the reality of how things are. Australia is screwed and it's all caused by the inside problem between the government and top defence personnel staff and defence industries.
      1. Australia is facing aging military equipment. More equipment is getting decommissioned faster than being replaced.
      2. Woke is killing the Australian defence force. Theirs more ADF personnel leaving faster than they can find recruits.
      3. The Australian government continues to delay equipment or cancel and change equipment, causing further delays of equipment being delivered. What they say with the new defence review may not actually get delivered. Scuffle between ship builders and defence personnel and the government is a major issue in Australia. The Australian defence force likes to tamper with ship design for their requirements, causing dealys over budget and snags in the ships design. Through surtain cancellations in the past, it has cost ship builders to be understaffed because of giving redundancies. Surtain defence industries have invested in equipment than have it cancelled, causing the companies to lose money and don't get reimbursement for it.
      4. Australia government committed to building 6 Hunter class frigate based on the British type 26 that has been downsized from 9 to 6. Due to over budget costs caused by its changes in design. The Australian government will make up the rest of the ASW fleet with 11 smaller off the shelf frigate designs that will probably end up with the same issues as the hunter.class frigate program as Australian defence will ask for surtain requirements to be added to the ship that will further delay the ships and price.
      5. At the moment, Australia has 8 very lightly armed Anzac frigates with one out of service permanently for anti-submarine warfare surface combating vessels. 3 lightly armed air warfare destroyers based on Spanish f100 class that was originally designed as a large frigate. As the only surface combating vessels in the royal Australian navy. The rest are none combating OPV merchant navy and two LHD carriers. And 6 aging conventional powerd submarines.
      6. The Australian government ordered new ships of a surface combating vessels to 26 from 10 currently in service. Although the timing of these vessels to be delivered is troubling for Australia defence. The first hunter class ship won't be built until 2033, and the last 2042. Theirs no guarantees on when the 11 smaller ships will be built. They haven't even decided on the varent till 2025, so how quick they can get them into service is another? 6 other optional crewed vessels getting built is another? Where are they getting them all built?
      7. The US Congress is still to approve the transfer of the Virginia class submarines for Australia to get nuclear powerd submarines. When can Australia get new ones of them when the US is facing delays themselves.
      Anything can happen between now and 2040s. Australia is faced with a 20-year gap in defence. And a recruitment issue as nobody wants to join.

      F35B has poor range and payload even of an aircraft carrier the radius of each jet is only around 1200km. The problem is that the Australia surface fleet so small that it needs what they have ordered plus what you just stated.
      What Marles has decided will give Australia more coverage. But it's still not enough. Australia, due to the size of our geographic area that needs to cover, RAN should have at least 40 surface combating vessels. And about 30 submarines 12 nuclear powerd and about 18 conventional powerd subs.
      China has around 700+ warships and growing.

    • @Nathan-ry3yu
      @Nathan-ry3yu 9 месяцев назад

      Also, to mention, since Australia has no aircraft carrier for our aircraft to have long range. I don't understand why we haven't built one. Or at least purchase long-range bombers. The war in the Pacific during ww2 was won by aircraft. I'm surprised RAAF went with the MQ 28 ghost bat drone fighters instead of building a long-range bomber, varent of it, and loaded it with anti ship missiles. The B1B bomb has a 14000 nortical mile range and can be loaded with as many 20 anti ship missiles in its internal bay. They could have built. A squadron or 2 here in Australia with a mq28 ghost bat drone bomber varent, and it would be as stealthy as the B2 stealth bomber. Just imagine how many ships they be able to sink with that
