Since The Super Mario Bros movie is at its brink! We have something crazy and this is from 1993. it’s a Live Action Super Mario Bros. Movie. Which is nuts to say but this was our first time watching. Brooklyn plumbers Mario and Luigi get the shock of their lives when they discover a parallel world populated by the intelligent descendants of dinosaurs. It seems they weren't destroyed by a meteor millions of years ago but hurled into another dimension and, now, they have plans to rule our world. It's up to our unlikely heroes to battle the evil King Koopa and his Goomba guards, free the beautiful Princess Daisy and save mankind in this adventure of a lifetime. Again this is probably the most 90s quirkiest movie we’ve ever seen and it being a Mario based live action we were entertained.

RIP Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper. When this movie was released, I was nine years old. When this film was released in 1993, I saw it in the theaters. There will be a 30th anniversary of this film next month. Wow, I'm old.
I had never even heard of this movie until years later and it’s labeled as one of the worst movies ever
Everybody involved with this movie hated doing it. Both Hoskins and Lenguizamo got drunk before each take to ease their nerves

This film is kind of like the Street Fighter movie, another bad video game movie that's still worth it for Raul Julia the same way this is worth seeing for Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper

Fun Fact: After the film was critically panned and bombed at the box office, Nintendo stopped producing live-action theatrical films based on their video game franchises for a long while. A "Metroid" film was put into development, but never went past pre-production. Nintendo would eventually release another adaptation, Detective Pikachu (2019), to improved critical and commercial success. Illumination Entertainment is going to take another stab at a 2023 Mario movie, with Chris Pratt (who we all LOVE) is voicing (yes, voicing) Mario.
Fear And Loathing Fact: During a chase scene, Bob Hoskins broke his finger when the van's door slammed on his hand. For the rest of the film, Hoskins is wearing a cast that was painted pink to look like a hand. Hoskins reportedly did not have a good time making this movie and took to drinking. He wasn't the only one. Allegedly due to drinking on set, John Leguizamo was hit by a car, breaking his leg. You can even see the cast in some shots of the movie.
Overengineering Problem Fact: The Yoshi puppet was capable of making 64 separate movements due to 200 feet of cable crammed inside its 3 foot tall structure. In all, no less than 9 puppeteers were used to operate the Yoshi puppet.
Finally! A reacter to this movie who gets it! It's such a good 90s movie and I just adore it so much! Saw it when I was a kid and it's still one of my favorites to this day! The 90s had such a distinct feel to their movies, like TMNT, The Flintstones, Batman and Robin, and this movie. They all had a quirky, fun feel to them and I just love them so much. 💕

As weird and disjointed as it is, at least it tried something different. By comparison the new one is a glossy commercial made by membaberries.

IMO, this is a fun movie, but not everything was sunshine and happiness behind the scenes.
Bob Hoskins said in an interview that, "The movie was a Fucking nightmare! The Director's were a bunch of Fucking morons! They didn't know what they were doing! It's like working with a bunch of Fucking children! The script was being rewritten several times during filming!"
Hoskins and John Leguizamo would get drunk in order to film their scenes.
Hoskins almost got himself killed doing his own stunts.
When Dennis Hopper's son asked why he did a terrible film, he said, "So I can buy you a new pair of shoes."
Hopper's son said, "I don't shoes THAT badly."
The Directors even threatened to shut down production to the movie if they didn't get the respect they need. This whole ordeal lasted 2 hours, as they announced this over a megaphone while walking on a scaffold overlooking the whole set. All the extras were booing them, while some of them applauded and appreciated their efforts.

I do love Bob Hoskins, I thought they both did great as Mario and Luigi, but I still think the movie is not good. Even Bob Hoskins said that the set for the movie was a nightmare.

They had a cartoon/live action Mario show called “The Super Mario Brothers Super Show”. They had a guy playing Mario and a guy playing Luigi in real life and then it turned into a cartoon.

This movie is terrible and great at the same time. Video game movies are always bad. They just don;t get it.
King Koopa is Bowser back in 1993 they called him bowser king of the Koopas this movie basically they didn’t know how to turn the video games into a movie so they made a bunch of stuff up and I think it is basically a surreal version of the ideas that came from the game that has nothing mutch to do with the games themselves
Disney actually use to play this movie a couple of times in late 90s and early 2000s but they stop showing it
