You both crack me up, every time! You just seem to be funnier every episode. We all need a good laugh in this crazy, crazy world. Many thanks, from Canada.
Hello you crazy kids! I will never tire of watching your banter lol. What nasty wet weather you are having... My sweetie and I have booked a month in Linlithgow next summer and can't wait to explore more of Scotland. Don't float away... xxx
I love how one day Katie is the straight man and Scot is the comedian, and then you switch roles! The movie and song references are spot on, too!
I'm British, now living in Australia; on rainy days I would love to hear about the history of the place, and its people in more depth, and also how families are surviving up there now, are traditions being kept alive?
Keep up the good work,
The pair of you could have your own TV show, your both brilliant!
I DO LOVE the fact that Katie wears nothing but dresses ... even hauling goods, sawing wood or shearing sheep - BRILLIANT !!!!!!
I luv you Mr Gripy Britches. You make me laugh every time I watch.
I wish we had your rain. Here in Arkansas USA we haven’t had any measurable rain in over a month. Temps are 100 F most days. Your channel is like a vacation.
The smirk at the end had me on the floor!! 😂😂😂
Take heart Scott, it’s not the size of the sander that defines the man.
But the grit of the belt!😀
👍👍
The bit of your little waterfall by the tanks is beautiful and that piece of music with it is my favourite. Scott, you actually made me LOL twice about the door. Can’t wait to see the end result! Love you both! Xx
Have thoroughly enjoyed watching you both and touring your lovely area of the earth. Lovely shelves and carpentry Scot... and Katie, I love your boots and knitted sweater...I have imagined that you fashioned it from the wool your precious pets supply. Your sharings always entertain this old lady and I dream of the beauty you have shared with us. I pray for your continued success in fixing and improving your 200 ? , 350 ?, or 400 year old cottage. You are both a delight... keep up the good work and thank you for choosing such beautiful music for your background.
I really enjoyed this episode and live your sense of humour, Scott reminds me so much of my late husband when we were selling our craft items on shows he would be spinning the wool I used and he would answer any intelligent questions but I will leave it to your imagination how he dealt with the stupid ones ! I love the solid chunky look of the items hopefully you will be making using the wood from the island if it ever dries out ! 😊❤
What a superb comment - covers everything.
Watching you is like a short holiday---even the rain. My chlidhood holidays were on the west coast, and for me the most evocative noise is that of the rain on the corrugated iron of the hut where the pipeband practiced...
Okay - Scott, my favorite parts of your videos are the long nature segments with beautiful music. No projects, no voice overs, just beauty and music :) Even RAINY nature is just fine!
Also, segments of Katie cooking or knitting. Just sitting there doing things, and not talking or describing the process -- just lovely music and watching Katie. Those are lovely episodes too. So don't feel like you have to be doing a renov. project outdoors all the time.
Loved this today. 😊You're battling the elements and doing well. Loved Scott's trip to the Bahamas, via The Shed . . . . . . . Of DOOM 😊
Thank you for sharing. Do keep safe, well, and, if possible, a little drier. Look after your knees and backs. It's tough out there. Love to you both ❤️
I've gotta say Katie, when Scott says "Your bad knee" he definitely has the tone it's your fault. 😁 or is it me? 😂 I think he should cook his own flamin dinner tonight!! 👊
Scott !! what about showing us your famous record collection sometime when it is (still) raining !? Needn't be a huge segment but many of us are record and book collectors and you do have some of that stuff. Next time you are in the Bahamas maybe more suitable clothing ? Katy I LOVE your endless patience .....
Beautiful videography guys - and the editing! Appreciate all the time and trouble you take to publish and upload - makes for great viewing!
Baking is relaxing for us to watch when weather's bad, too... ;)
Or any kind of cooking.
I agree, more cooking would be nice and it’s inside. So, where did Scott learn his woodworking skills, some history on that would be interesting too.
Should have used them blunt scissors to get them old screws out and use the pointy blade to scrape the remaining paint out between the planks on the door.
😅😂
Don't listen to him Katie we love looking endlessly at your door !! 😂😂😂
Scott, a hint on using the saw: clamp a straight edge to your board for a guide. I have found it makes a big difference. Nice straight cuts!
I empathize with how difficult and frustrating it must be to get things done (including videos) when it is raining so much. Katie, you have the patience of a saint and Scott, I love your sense of humor (scissor gate lol). I appreciate how you manage to just get on with things and still appreciate your stunning surroundings. It would be nice to have a little porch or gazebo to set up so you can sit outside when it is raining. Of course I am just projecting what I would want onto you! lol
When you can’t be outside, just film whatever you’re doing inside. I’d watch whatever you’re doing and wherever you’re doing it! Would love to see Katie doing more cooking, for example.
The door is going to be Lovely! It's so hot here in Ontario right now, you wouldn't like it either! But I like it better than rain! Funny with that background Scott!
What a beautiful place you guys are calling home - a beautiful video thank you.
It has been very wet in Glasgow too. Another fine episode.... thank you.
I am british living in sweden your videos are beautiful hopefully fingers crossed you will get more subscribers.
The video's are brilliant we check every day we also know with the weather up there it is not always possible to do outside filming but we like the humour and banter you two have which also adds a big part of the video. We love watching the antics of the animals makes us laugh thanks for sharing.
Would love to see Katie do some more traditional food prep. .. also what she is knitting… and her dresses are so lovely for everyday wear…
I love the furniture you made! Wow, Scott, you're good!!!
I would love to more baking and cooking content.
AND the crop rotation sounds fascinating.
Oh Katie, you are so adorably funny sweet Lady 🌈🌈☔☔💃🏼💃🏼🌼🌼
I have a pen sander for crafting that has several different shaped heads that you can attach different grit sandpapers. They come corded or battery. One would probably clean the door grooves without removing much wood.
Hi! Scott, Katie, I am grumpy too! Why? For the first year ever my garlic which I grow in pots died in may. The y get planted in Oct. I have had two raspberries!!! They are also in pots. Last year I had lots of berries. 3 bushes have had nothing grow and leaf are died. Never has this happened. It's the bloody rain!!!!!! So I feel ya! You both make me smile! Keep being you! P. S full time wheelchair user. That's why all my herbs and non fruit are in pots. Loves Helen from Scotland. Hugs. ❤❤
Your island looks so peaceful and beautiful. I know it's been a lot of work but you have done a great job.
If you are going to stain the door, you need to use wood conditioner on it before staining or it will be all blotchy. I learned this from experience with staining soft wood.. Also mix some sawdust in with the wood filler to match better.
'Tis a wee bit rude to discuss the size of a man's sander 🤣We'll listen and watch whatever you do xx Teresa 🇦🇺❤ Edit: More cat and sheep shenanigans are fine too when it rains 😻😻🐑🐑🐑
i think you should spray foam Scotts scissors into a frame and mount it on the wall in his mancave..........he would love it..........such a thoughtful gift :)
😆
The side glance at the end 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂I love you two
Scott her door project is great😊
Great video!!❣️🇨🇦
How about some more cooking tutorials.
For paint stripping, I don’t know if you can get it there, but Strip Club paint stripper from..it’s either New Zealand or Australia, is fabulous. I learned about it from Caleb of the Second Empire Strikes Back channel. He’s restoring a 150-year-old house back to its original appearance, trying to save everything possible from the original house. He has used this stuff on beadboard, pine, and a lot of other woods used in the house. Combined with a heat warmer, even very old paint comes off quickly without damaging the wood.
2 people with a sense of humour awesome great content people I have learnt a lot from both of you
Hope it works out getting the repairs to the chimneys and the gable end. It’s been so bad in August this year, hardly summer and we’re in the Midlands. Hopefully September will be better x
Don't stress about putting out videos every week or so. I'll keep watching no matter what, or how frequently, or infrequently you make them. I love watching everything you're doing and wish you all the best in your endeavors. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. 😊
SCOTT WE NEVER GET BORED SEEING BEAUTIFUL KATIE ❤
Love your channel. & Katie had the right idea Scott give the kayakers a friendly wave us Scottish folk are known for friendliness ❤️ 🏴
Kayaking should be made a criminal offence.
@@TheScottishIsle 😂😂😂your such a dick. that did make me laugh
Scott you bring us such joy. My husband would be a kindred spirit talking about the weather and we don’t even have the excuse of being on an island in the Hebrides. He is convinced that as soon as you come onto the dual carriageway to approach out northwest England town it starts to rain. True to form it is raining now.
I think we need to see Scott's sander in action more than once to make a judgement on it's size.......
I think you two have lost it 🤪don’t worry you are in good company!! ( me too ) That does look a hell of a lot of water lapping up on the shore line . September will be better 🤞. Love watching the door being sanded etc , only problem is have to keep rewatching as keep falling asleep with the lovely harp music as a backdrop 😊
I would also love cooking with katie. Or cosy knitting footage. Maybe even smaller jobs like a day in the life style showing the small differences between everyday city life and island life.
Hilarious what a lovely couple you are I enjoy watching you work, chat together something we could all do with our partners and yes I have certain scissors for certain jobs
Scott reminds me of a mixture between Tom Hardy and Fred Dibner … and I love his dry sense of humour! Always makes me howl!
Haha you two are hilarious. Love the visual background. If it’s any consolation Perth West Aust has had rain for 3 wks, non stop except for 2 days. Yeah it’s winter but not the winter we are used to. It’s depressing so I understand how you feel. 😊
Scott I hope you have sunscreen!😂 Katie I love your sense of humor!😂❤️👍🏼
Saw this morning on the news that Oasis is touring again and immediately thought of Scott. 😂
It’s very wet every where in the UK at the moment so I get your difficulties however I love hearing about your interesting snippets of history and forgotten crafts and traditional cooking. Much more of that please and what does Scott get up to in the shed of Dreams? What are your dreams both of you. That scenery on the Island is always worth filming too. 🩷🩷
I've never refinished or restored an old door, but the thought occurred to me that maybe you could disassemble it completely, marking each piece of wood so you know what goes where, then removing the paint from each board individually. Is that something that fits within the definition of restoration? Since you're stripping it down to the bare wood, there's no worry about preserving a patina or any surface character. After refinishing all the pieces, you could reassemble it and it would be good as new, as it was when it was first built.
In today's insane world, your videos are such a refreshing experience. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you!
Today we learned that Scott may be compensating for the size of his sander. 😆
😂😂😂lol
The "visual podcast is great!!!
An interesting video, good looking shelves, nice Coloured wood,
But you guys love this place despite all the hard work and extreme weather ??
Scott on a palmbeach island with his Scottish clothes on is hilarious 😆 you look like you belong there 🩲
Ah, Katie, you are a saint!
Perhaps, Scott, you need a couple of weeks respite from the island and its accompanying wet weather? Maybe you know someone in a part of the UK where you could go spend a few warmer weeks of dry weather before autumn and winter set in? I think you have deserved it!
I would definitely buy some of those shelves when you start selling them, they are beautiful. Thanks again for your brilliant videos
I love ur dresses, I don't even own a pair of pants and I do remodel jobs all the time...and I'm 60 yrs old.
Same! Kx
I have really enjoyed all your podcasts, just interesting, casual chatting. Hope you get back safely Scott 😉
Great vlog again even though your stuck indoors or Bananas (I think I heard you say). Very enjoyable lol. Stay well.
Personally I don't feel you have " to do" anything persific. You're entertaining in your own rights. I'm grateful for the opportunity to see into your wonderful life 😀
You two are mad 😂😅❤
Funny with that background Scott! Have thoroughly enjoyed watching you both on your podcast,. Have a lovely week.
I love that you are both so honest , in your approach . I would love to see you do a podcast. Must be so frustrating for you , the weather holding up getting bits done outside .
But one thing Scott , if you are in the Bahamas , you must be awfully hot in those clothes 😂😎
I love watching Katie so on items so put up more content of the door refinishing.I came from a family of hard working women doing chores around the ranch.
Well, from High in the Rockies, your water is a thing of envy (except for what it does to our dirt roads). Might I suggest a bit of wool washing, carding and spinning? Sometimes those are good rainy day pastimes, as if you have nothing else to do I'm sure.
Scot, anyone who sews knows what it is to loose a favorite pair of scissors. I'm so sorry! At least they went to a good cause.
I am one of those who liked your door with all the paint colors, but I would remind everyone, we are not the ones who live with it. I also love the attention you are giving it. It will be beautiful and will fit in perfectly with your vision for your home. I'm hold good thoughts for you getting your place water tight.
John Cleese to your detractors!
🤣
If its any consolation guys, its been bucketing down here for weeks too. Our sheep are growing Pink fungus all over their beautiful wool from the constant wet wool as they live in paddocks with only tree shelter. I think your wee sheep are doing the right thing as I'd be staying inside all day too if I could get away with it :) Scott we love your various bookshelves, really creative and aesthetic.
Buy stainless dental hooks & picks to get the paint out of hard places they work. Good Luck , from Indianapolis Indiana USA
I so enjoy you both❤😊
That sea level 😱 I hope the weather turns and you can get out and about again. And that last piece….. I realy laught out loud! 😂 Much love 🌺 M.
Scott, ya do look a bit silly, sitting on a tropical island in your winter jacket. How many places, on your section of the island, can you grow feed crops? Wheat, oats, corn, hay, beans, rice. What kind of rack, or shed, are you going to build to dry your meat & smoke your fish? And what kind of fish are you fishing for? What kind of wood are you going to smoke the fish with? And where would this take place? What do you plan on canning for winter? Do you plan on making some candles, in case the power goes out this winter?
I would love to purchase a bookcase or any of the other beautiful creations made by Scott, but the cost of shipping would be too high for where I live.
If you ever decide to sell anything like tea towels, blankets made in Scotland etc, to support your channel, I’m interested ( although you’re both so busy with all of your projects, not sure you have time or are interested in doing anything like this).
I love the idea of the podcast from wherever in the world you are ( Scottish Isles, Bahamas…).💕
Greetings from sunny (aye right) Blackpool, loving your shows . thanks slainth mhath awerabest
You guys are hilarious!😂
We'd be happy to see any bit of life and work going on indoors with glances outside in the heavy rain. Also, I'm gettin' worried about that knee.
I love you guys LOL!😂❤
Thank you for another entertaining video and thank you for sorting the wooden posts on the wishlist. they will be arriving by Saturday, take care.
Wow Katie you are so patient. Wet weather uh! It has been relentless in the north of England. Loved the episode. 🐑🌂🌂🌂
Love you guys
So funny!❤😂
This is the worst Scottish summer I can remember. I have made three trips to your area this summer and the wind has always blowing a hoolie so no point even launching my boat. Keep up the good work.
It's not the size of your tool Scott, it's how well you use it! I sympathise over the weather and how much it's restricting renovations and opportunity to film. I am near Glasgow and have hardly even cut grass this year in garden.
Lots of water for a trout pond! Fresh fish at hand all winter....lol!
The question about katies dresses are very interesting 🤔, …are they maybe designed and homemade by Katie ? , …are they maybe vintage found ? , …or did Scott sew them ? 😆😂 , do we maybe get an answer ? and what may the answer be ? 🤔 no doubt they are beautiful on Katie 🤩
Please just ignore the people who feel they need to critisize, dont give them ANY air time at all! They just spoit it for the rest of us who love your channel and appreciate the difficulties. I did think of something which I for one would enjoy when you are unable to get out to do your normal chores. That is maybe Katie you could read to us some of the local folk law while you sit and knit by the fire. I love that shot of you knitting by the fire. Even any local history. Some of us ladies might be interested in what you are knitting, I have just started a jumper for myself. Although I live in NZ now my Dad was Scottish, in my younger years I travelled the lenght and breadth of Scotland and loved every bit of it. I love anything Scottish s it is my heritage too. I really love your channel and cannot wait for each new episode. You are doing a great job. Greetings and bessings from NZ
I just love the humour you both have , and Scott i fully agree with expanding foam, horrible horrible stuff and useless for any long-term use as it shrinks 😊
YT has this bug or feature where you experience Bizaro World scenarios. For example, a show about desert homesteaders (Herb-o-Matic) followed by a show about Scotland homesteaders (The Scottish Isle.)
BAHAHA... 😂😂 Too funny... Scott your shelves are amazing Love them .. thanks guys great show ❤❤
If you haven't already, you could try some wire wool in the door grooves?
The dremel worked well in the end. Kx
I do hope weather 🌦️ improves soon our renovation is going slowly too …
Out internet is so slow I can’t get any videos up I’d love to share our journey - trials and tribulations too …
Keep on inspiring us ❤ thank you 🙏
