I wish there were more levels that felt like traditional levels. The vast majority of levels anymore are kaizo or one off gimmick levels. Nothing wrong with those if that's what you're into, but I much prefer fun traditional levels.

I love the concept of this Super World!! There are so many little things, like that underground sub-area where you fall from high first before getting some coins, or a block being over a donut block or a lot of parts in World 2 that feels legit like SMB3. I'm loving it so far :3
There’s actually a discord server that has a whole bunch of em if you’re interested, it’s a hub for mostly traditional super worlds and collaborations like this one! The maker of this super world is actually on that server as well.
Great video and hack. Makes me miss stuff from Mario 3 not being in MM2 though: - Jumping brick enemies - pinkisk noteblock that takes you to a secret area - mini goombas - flying goombas with mini goombas - having bouncing blocks that look solid - being able to hit noteblocks from the side - making other blocks other than coin blocks invisible (like the pinkish noteblocks) - hammer brothers suit - warp whistle - that suit that makes you turn into a statue - being able to make everything giant - the orb at the end of each castle - the hammers that let you break certain rocks or whatever on the main overworld - the ability to save an inventory of powerups to choose from on the main overworld - the special levels on the main overworld (hammer bro, coin ship, card matching) - being able to duck on a white platform and run behind the stage - red goombas Just makes me realize how much more could have been implemented.
I love this concept. My only stage that I managed to finish creating in SMM2 is a very traditional SMB1 level. Something you would expect to see in the original game
All of the Level names are spoofs on Beatles songs! "Mushroom Fields Forever" instead of "Strawberry Fields Forever". "Long and Winding Roots" instead of "Long and Winding Road". "Across the Caps" instead of "Across the Universe" and so on.

I thought this was just gonna be another episode of the "Trolled" series, about a Mario 3 style level that's really trolly and hard, but what actually turned out to be an epic, nostalgic and tradition feeling super world of what really could have been the lost levels but for super mario bros 3, I just mean like- I'm speechless gang, I'm speechless.
Mushrooms have no taste because you can apply any marinade to them to make them tasty! You then always have to sautee them in butter or olive oil to get it to be even more tastier. That's when you salt them and roast them on a pizza which depending on the cheese will enhance the flavor even more. Mushrooms are one of those foods that are meant to be eaten alongside something else.
I was recently thinking about the orbs in the Mario 3 Fortresses. There's one in Mario World, too. It's the goal of the Ghost Ship level. The orbs always open a path on the world map. So anyway, I was thinking about the orbs in the context of Mario Maker. Just imagine being able to make the level goal an item that you could then give to an enemy or put in a box. But then I imagined what Little Timmy could do with that and invisible blocks or enemy swarms.
You could say the exact same of Keys, though, and those were an overall net gain for Mario Maker. I’d say not to worry about what Little Timmies would do with tech too much-if we focused on that, a lot of the good items we DO have would probably be gone lol

This really does feel traditional! It really feels like this wasn't made in the SMM2 level creator, but it was! My brain can't remember to picture the SMM2 level creator when I think to picture the creation software used to create the level!
Also, right before Dave started talking about the goombas in the blocks, I was literally thinking that the goombas in the blocks would reveal their feet and start jumping toward Mario!
During the angry sun level, I thought that the hard block at the edge of the cliff after the fire plant that Dave hid from was one of those blocks that bounced away then knocked you backward and spat out items!
There are also some actual lost levels, as in unfinished ones that either got scrapped or converted into other levels. I think the SMB3 randomizer has these restored and included in the level mix.

One of the most interesting ones for me: " *You* " as one or multiple person " *On* " like Im ON something or turn something ON/OFF or the paper is ON the table - So straaangeee And there is no " *RESPECT* " words for You, Them, etc. In Hungarian there is "Te" as You. And sometimes it purposely IS using a metaphor, like computer terms such as desktop and folders, or “hang up” for phones. “I’m on it” has a big connection with the meaning of on the table, there’s a thing that’s……well, connected to another thing. It has been applied to it in some way. And on and off may have come from something that is literally on or off of something…or not, but… And Queue is just supposed to be pronounced like the letter, it was a just…I guess a natural way to pronounce it. And it still doesn’t make sense French, though I’ve learned a bit of it, where the pronunciation is like kuuh. I assume this is how the vowels work: After q there’s always a (silent)u, then there's the vowel pair eu, which actually makes the sound, and THEN they slap a silent e on the end(which is everywhere in French, but it still doesn’t make too much sense on this word), so you end up with four vowel letters in a row, in a word with only one vowel sound.
He says it's not going to be Kaizo-esque levels and such, but... if I recall correctly, the original lost levels is... pretty Kaizo. Infinite loops, wrong passages, puzzles you need to figure out just right, reverse progress... it was super-hard in comparison. So if this ended up being a LOT harder more frustrating than the original SMB3, then it WOULD be staying true to 'Lost Levels' aesthetic.
Tell that to my parents. They are completely insistent that they don't have flavor, but they do. Its hard to describe though. Lettuce too. Also a weird flavor.
There is just too much you can't do in smm2 that this needs. Quicksand, jumping flames, enemy in a block, rollover power ups, storewide power ups, matching game just to name a few.
I still remember this game - it was the first Super Mario I got with my ownGameboy for Christmas. I loved it, but never made it through the first level with an angry sun x'D YEARS after, I was determinded to finish the game - and just RAN through the entire level with the sun :'D After many trials, I actually made it! One of the proudest moments of my gaming childhood xP
Actually, I think some of these levels might be based on some of the unused levels from SMB3. I’m pretty sure 2-3 is based on an unused level. It’d be interesting so see more of that, and maybe even see some of the E-Reader levels thrown in there too.
This looked so cool, I went and played the world instead of watching the video. :) It's great! Though I got frustrated near the end and threw in the towel at 8-1. :B
In fairness, that's about the point most people give up on the actual SMB3, so when you think about it, that's also pretty traditional for a SMB3 super world.
When you go back to play SMB3 right through. That final level with the statues that fire lasers. Just run flat out from the start and the lasers don't hit you. It was painful watching you trying to avoid them last time.
WOW!!! That did feel like a legitimate Lost Levels game. A little tougher, but not gonna bash your head against the wall in frustration over it. LOL I look forward to more. :D
There actually were "lost levels in super mario 3. There's actually several incomplete/scrapped levels within Mario 3's data, and then there's also the levels from World e inthe GBA remake.
This is not a "lost levels" super world, it's more of a "3.2" super world. The lost levels aka the original Mario 2 WAS a troll game, that was the entire point of the poison mushroom.
With the extra mechanics and graphical flourishes provided by the Mario Maker 2 engine, this truly does feel like a sequel to Super Mario Bros. 3 in the same way the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 added to and enhanced the Super Mario Bros. aesthetic. I daresay, if the SNES had come out a year or two later, a potential Super Mario Bros. 4 could have looked and played very similarly to this.
They should add warp whistles to SMM2! ( or in SMM3) You could use it within a stage to transport you forward to the checkpoint of your choice, but if you don't use it within the stage, in endless you will carry it into the next stage, if the stage has checkpoint you can then use it in there, or if it doesn't have a checkpoint you'll just be able to keep it until you find a level with a checkpoint.
If they would add that why not make use of different world maker styles like SMB3 World Style.. The current one we have.. NSMB.U World Style.. Now there would be no SMB1 World Style.. But they could make a thing where it went to the next level.. Now Im saying different styles becuase then they could have there own mechanics to skip a world.. Im just saying this.. so yeah..

You can’t even remake the first level in SMB1 because of limited ground decoration, and the fact that you cant stack pipes…

The irony in this is that Mario 3 actually had lost levels. (Not the E-Reader levels, but actual scrapped levels from the NES version.)
My super world is in the same style as this!
On the Gameboy Advance Nintendo released a World E for Mario Bros 3. I consider those to be "the lost levels"

The reason there is a ghost there is because in Super Mario bros 3 there were no ghost houses so the ghosts were found in castles instead
