With some (okay, a lot) imagination, it’s like he was found guilty but at sentencing, the jury sentenced him to “time served” and his record was expunged. OR he walked away on a technicality.
Also, think of the US Senate as that jury. The GQP (Mitch McConnell and company) committed what amounted to “jury nullification.” Both times but to different degrees. Bottom line, Trump skated so is free to run for office.

The Supreme Court needs to follow the Constitution and invoke the 14th Amendment and remove all maga within the government. The first line of the 14th is very clear: No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States! "No person" includes the ex-President!
It only applies to current or former members of our Government or our Military that swore an Oath to Serve and Protect the United States, it's Constitution and violated it. How can they POSSIBLY be trusted to not do it again?
I wish but there is not enough courage collectively. It would be a miracle if even one Justice voted for it.

But put all that aside and look at the clause that says, "giving aid and comfort to the insurrectionists is enough to disqualify someone for running for the presidency." Trump did that and continues to do so now. Why doesn't that get brought up in all of these discussions by the experts lawyers? It is a major part of the 14th amendment and that standing alone is enough to disqualify him.
