You guys are living the life, what an experience to last a lifetime. Leaving your job to do this was probably your best decision. Many people wait till they retire to do this, unfortunately a lot never make it.
It really is God's country. I spent a few years as a little tacker living out the north side of Cairns at Yorkey's Knob (Unfortunate name haha) before it became super expensive and returned as a twenty something to live in Cairns for a few years during the mid 90's. We used to camp out at Josephine's falls carpark and after dark there's these crazy little spring heeled marsupials that come out. They're only a foot high and when they felt they were a little too close would unexpectedly launch straight up into the air about 6 feet. I can't remember what they were called, but they were the funniest little animals I've ever seen.
@@TheWickmansLife2024 I've lived and worked all over this country before flying out one day and then spent 7 years doing just that but all over the globe. Gotta live the life you get
Really enjoying being along on your journey discovering our great country. We had our honeymoon 50 years ago up in Cairns & in the Daintree, so many memories. It is a fun place to holiday especially Port Douglas being the gateway to the reef. Your family will have many great adventures to come. Thanks for making the effort, your videos are quite entertaining.
Awesome!!! Make sure you do the historic Kuranda train ride up & skyrail back down and also not to be missed is "Hartley's Crocodile Adventures" just nth of Cairns where you get up close & personal with the really big crocs
Gee, it has been a long time since I went to Cairns (Aussie name) Even the road to those Waterfalls has been Bitumened, Cairns was a small country town trying hard to attract tourists. Good to see mum is happy to cook for her family.
What’s great about most Aussie tourist spots, like the waterfalls, is there’s rarely big crowds. Asia has some great spots too, but generally heaps of people and not as untouched / clean. Also, Hubby got the pronunciation right for cairns - “cans”’😊
Ohh yeh theres lots of bats. The Cairns Aquarium is also a cool place to take the kids and the RSL is just a couple of doors down from it if you fancy a cold one.
I'm glad you liked Josephine Falls. Millaa Millaa is another nice spot. The water may be cold but it's always free of crocodiles and box jellyfish, so that's a big plus. 35c to 37c here in South east Qld today so a dip there would have been most welcome. There are a few spots around Brisbane with similar rainforest pools and smaller waterfalls. You could board the tourist train in Redlynch just a little north west of Cairns. It stops at Stony Creek Falls and the Barron Falls then terminates in Kuranda. On the way back south, Mount Spec, Wallaman Falls & the Undara Lava tubes are worth a stop. Also the Cardwell mobile pie cart again! Airlie Beach for Whitehaven Beach and Agnes Waters make good stops too. It's coming into our hurricane season (tropical cyclones) so I understand the rush to get far north Qld out of the way asap.
Love you adventure guys enjoy our country, maybe your next adventure travel Western Australia, from the south of Esperance all the way to Exmouth. Chris
Hi guys!👋 Hope your well my favourite American family🙏 I just thought I'd let you know that a guy with a vlog Dream Team Neal reviewed your episode 69 and 💕 it👍 He's got close to 99000 subscribers so hopefully you guys will net a few. You missing the surf brother?🏄 Love ya all. 🇺🇲🤜🤛🇭🇲💪
Milla Milla is worth the swim out to the waterfall. Josephine falls is at the bottom of a 7.5km hike to the highest point in QLD which is the top of Mt Barte Frere. There is a helicopter port at the top and 500m climbing up of huge boulders at the top of the mountain, but no real view. That's one green leech infested hell if you venture off track 😅😀🇦🇺
@TheWickmansLife2024 I also really respect and appreciate how much research you both do about each place you visit - your kids are gonna be well educated about the WORLD ❤️
Etty bay has a local on beach cassowary called elvis tree kangaroos at malanda best on dusk or dawn and platypus at mungali falls yungaburra on tablelands for me the top archetecture village my a as local picks innsvaio art deco buildings and paronella park v interesting story behind it
I meant to jump into the comments of the Bribie Island video. The reason you're struggling with the pronunciations of Australian place names is due in part to the American accent being Rhotic, where as the Australian one isn't. So for example "Cairns" being pronounced what you would say as "cans", look at it from the perspective of "C-air-ns" and remember the non-rhotic R so instead of an "arr" we say "ahh". Also, and this is much more regionalised in the USA, but your vowels are completely different to how we pronounce them. So, in "tomato" you say "toe-mae-toe" but we say "toe-mah-toe". When you were saying "Brib-bee Island" instead of "Bry-bee Island". And Caloundra to us aussie sounded like you were saying "Ka-lon-dra", the lou is the same as you would say in the word "cloud". Vowel placement is what separates the Aussie accent from the Kiwi one. The best way to make an Aussie sound like they're from New Zealand is to get them to say using their natural Aussie accent - "Mester Frid Smeth, please come to the chickin counter your teckit is riddy" 🙂 😛

Sounds like that’s the story with a lot of Aussie towns in the recent years!
Wow, what a wonderful few days.....Cairns is beautiful. I must head north one day....furthest I've been is the Gold Coast.
Thank you! Yes you should check it out!
Don't forget Baron Falls, the Tank Museum and the Skyway, which is one of the best ways to see the rain forest and the falls.
I read that as Bacon Falls and for a couple seconds I experienced heaven
Ok cool thank you! We will look into it!

That’s true! Australia is very uncrowned in general compared to other parts of the world!

So awesome!
Thank you!
Thanks Wickmans you are showing me parts of Australia I haven't seen.
Your welcome!
Hope you guys went to Rusty's market, so many tropical fruits and food on offer.
Glad you're enjoying the best part of Australia!
We didn’t make it but that sounds awesome!
@ it's pretty good. Right in the Centre of Cairns. Have some awesome adventures, wishing you guys all the best!
❤ Water falls and swimming holes .long as there's no crocs🐊
For sure! We made sure these places were croc free!

That’s why we love waterfalls. They are usually fairly safe of critters! The tourist train sounds fun!
Great vid, been Cairns many times and still haven’t seen it all🎉
Thank you! Cairns is awesome!
Fish tail handshake 😂
That was good right? Lol
Love you adventure guys enjoy our country, maybe your next adventure travel Western Australia, from the south of Esperance all the way to Exmouth. Chris
We would love too!
@ Esperance lucky bay has been rated the best beach I think 2022 or 2023 so blue and white sand.

That’s really cool! Thank you so much!
Big crocs get a little human hungry, they just get moved into uninhabited areas up in the NT or far north qld
Yeah that makes sense. Not worth having them around highly populated areas.
Nice vid
Thank you!

Didn’t know that about the helicopter! That’s cool! Doesn’t sound like the hikes worth it tho!
@TheWickmansLife2024 hike is worth it but not one for the faint hearted. Highest point in QLD sign photo is worth it to some 🇦🇺🤙
Great picnic better than ‘picnic at hanging rock’
Few ppl have commented about hanging rock will have to look into it!
❤️
Thank you!

Curry pies are the go. 💪
Definitely!
Josephine, Lynne...God's country....if they are not signs for your guys I don't know what is. 😂😂
I know right lol
You need to check out the Australian movie called "Picnic at Hanging Rock:.
Yeah a few ppl have mentioned it. We will!
Did you get to keep any fish?
Yes!! The mangrove jack! The clean and cook will be in an upcoming episode! Stay tuned!

You may not have caught a mara, but a mangrove jack is far better eating. Pity there were no crabs about.
I was super happy about the Jack!

Nice mangrove Jack. I've never tried eating one but apparently their pretty tasty. 😃🤟✌️P.s Did you eat it.?
Thank you we were stoked! They are! Very similar to our Mangrove Snapper back home! We will cook up soon!
