That video brings back lots of fond memories. I think the first pub i legally bought a pint in was The Marine. Thank Tony for making an old sanddancer happy. Regards Alan

That is a clever move, to take those photos as after a few pints it is hard to remember how they actually looked like...

Hi Bob, on a recent visit to the town my old pub the criterion is no no longer a pub. so many off these old pubs have gone now. the town has lost so much of its true character. still manage to have a great night out in south shields.....thanks again for commenting..

Very interesting indeed, Tony. I am happy to report that I have had a drink in most of them! My first (underage!) pint was in the North Eastern when I was 15. Great memories, and it's a shame that there seems to be a mad dash to get rid of the old Shields.

Hi Yvonne. the black Prince at the nook was our meeting point before heading of into shields town centre, normally finishing at the Chelsea cat or La strada. 1980s were the best. thank you for commenting. Tony

Thanks Buddy I think I've played darts in 90% of those pubs, that was a smashing trip down memory lane, we'd finish a Saturday in the Kismet, if you had a meal in there you got free entry to the nightclub/disco upstairs, in those days I played darts six nights out of seven, cheers Mark

Your welcome mate I had fun putting the video together there's a few pubs missing but mostly all of our favourite haunts are still there.. The North Eastern Has been turned into a coffee bar. the Criterion was my favourite bar in the town...thanks again Mark...........Tony

although I lived at the Nook the Steamboat was my local, I played for their team for years, bloody coffee shops are all over the place. There was a time, when you could just go around the pubs in the market place, and go home as merry as a lord,
