I'm loving these, I was a fan for a while but sort of lost touch with my affinity at a certain point, mostly due to an over saturation of outside elements and user based fatigue on the admirable but exhaustive output.
Anyhow, good stuff as always, even at his worst, I always am able to nab some sort of beneficial thought, momentary sadness and inherent truisms within, a pleasant combination of tender, mundane, absurd, academic, hilarious, profane and bleak.

you've said it so well, i go through phases of voraciously consuming these videos and i always take something from them, but this one is exceptional. I came looking for this one in particular just now after listening to his song on Voyager called Vocation; the hook in that song reminded me of the moment he says here something like, "to be cool is to be doing 'x' thing at 'y' time." i love that he touches on the sublime. i like thinking of this video in relation to Kant's critique of judgement. This video is in itself a demonstration of how momus' vison is one that mediates between pop and avant garde sensibilities, part of what makes him so cool.

" into them in early teens, songs were just like magazines, seriously subversive folk, had blue vinyl scraped in chalk, sparkplug 12 inch megamix, my devoted song of Fix, mystified at those fine tricks "

jeans aren't as basic as you think. now the default trousers are cargo pants or cargo shorts. and the default jacket would be a hooded sweatshirt called a "hoodie" in the usa.

Funny you should end on the idea of "jumping the shark" since that expression was first coined in relation to Fonzy himself (the epitome of cool for uncool sitcom watchers) in an episode of Happy Days which was thought to have gone too far. In it, in addition to his Marlon Brando leather jacket (meant to signify his coolness to the viewers) he wore ludicrous bathing shorts and water-skis, thus gliding back and forth between embarrassingly uncool, ridiculous even by sitcom standards, and perhaps all the way back around to actually somehow being cool in a show that clearly wasn't.

One of the most surreal things ever is seeing Bowie (at his coolest) on the Dinah Shore show in 1975 saying he's a great fan of Fonzy: www.dailymotion.com/video/x321jw6

i looked up what was trending and i ran across a trending story about morrison's grocery store in england, uk selling big plastic sacks of hard boiled eggs suspended in a yellow liquid. ah, it's reassuring to know some things never change. uk food sucks.
