I own a DVD of "Best years of Our Lives" and Dana Andrews played the part perfectly. Capt. Fred Derry was an over achiever who suffered from PTSD. All Fred wanted, was to get back to a career and raise a family. The PTSD was his demon and in the end, he found a new challenging career opportunity and married a woman who truly loved him.

No Time like the Past 1963 He was a time traveler sick of the present day life & he tried to kill
Hitler Warned the citizens of Hiroshima & stop the Lusataina from being torpedoed in ww1 he later had a powerful speach he gave in 19th century Indiana.

I saw The Oxbow Incident as a teenager, while in the thick of becoming a film buff. It sparked a sense of integrity from inside me at the time. It made me love Dana Andrews, looking forward to so many other films he made. Of course Laura & The Best Years of Our Lives where his performance as a PTSD war veteran reflected vulnerability so beautifully.

Dana was/is one of my most favorite actors...and human beings. The man, the actor I have watched & enjoyed even today at 80 years old. I loved him & Gene Tierney in "Laura," 1945 film...later re-done, but never near Andrews & Tierney's performance.

Dana Andrews was a fine actor in every sense. Despite his struggle with a demon that thought it would linger, it just wasn't any more room left. Subsequently, winning the odds, deciding to use his enter strength and it worked. He had a successful career. An education. A family man. He was all man. His smooth baratone voice and the way he handled women with that manley touch. Respectable. Real Estate was a smart move, because you are never without a dollar. Working with Jean Tierney on several projects is my favorite. They worked very well togather. It is always a pleasure. I am a Noir fan. Every Sunday and Thursdays'. I can always watch him on other channels I have anytime. I love his handsome and tough-guy persona. Holding his on. Although he was never nominated, and didn't win the highest award in that catagory, he strongly proved with his unique unforgettable talent, that he was indeed oscar material. Whenever I'm stressing about something , I just simply watch a Dana Andrews movie. That's how good he was. He left a legacy for anyone that's into it the way I am. RIP, my man.🥰🥰😇😇🥳🥳💋💋💓💓❤👍👍👏👏✍✍👀👀👂👂🎞🎞🎥🎥🎬🎬📄📜📃🏡🏡🌇🌇🚘🚙🛣🛣🚦🚦✈✈🌈🌈🔥🔥🌟🌟🥗🥗🥓🥓🍳🍳🥩🍗🥦🥬🥒🌶🌽🍽🍽☕☕🍾🍾🍹🍹

Classic films of the 40's and 50's hold an undeniable allure that transcends time. These films celebrate cinematic heritage, nostalgia and bridging generations together to watch and savour these films. Dana Andrews belonged to this era. No matter what the genre was, he gave us his best, portraying characters with laid-back ease. It was rare to see Dana ruffled. Recently, I had the pleasure of seeing him in "Madison Avenue", where he played a heel, using and discarding people to suit the delicate situation his character was placed in. Still the heel in him was most likable. Some of Dana's most memorable films include: My foolish heart, State Fair [1945], Canyon Passage, Elephant Walk and a wonderful film he made in the 40's with the gorgeous Linda Darnell, where she gets murdered. Too bad my memory's playing hide and seek right now when I need that title. Dana was also great in 'Beyond a reasonable doubt', The best years of our life and scores of other film and TV assignments. He was a good family man and much liked by the film fraternity. He also had a good looking brother by name, Steve Forrest, who was featured as leading man in quite a few movies of the 50's, Bedeviled with Ann Baxter for example.

I remember him best from the movie Laura in which he was carried by Gene Tierney, Clifton Webb and Vincent Price. Gene and Clifton made the movie and it was before Vincent became typecast in horror movie roles. He stood out in his role. To me, Dana's character overdid the macho part. Have watched the movie several times and never tire of it and am gonna watch again soon.

I've been a fan of Dana Andrews, for over 40 + years. Best years, Laura, state fair, hot rods to hell,
in harm's way, battle of the bulge, ect. He was top drawer in any movie he made. As well as radio, lux theather, & his radio series:
I WAS A COMMUNIST FOR THE FBI durning the red scare. He was one of the last of the golden age of Hollywood. THEY DON'T MAKE e'm LIKE Them ANYMORE !! 2026 is coming soon, They SHOULD make an 80th anniversary package 📦 of The Best Years of Our Lives, including a Director's Cut dvd 📀 of the film, some behind the scenes photos, some forgotten short interviews with the actors, & actresses, loby cards, ect. Like they did for Gone with The Wind or,
    The Wizzard of Oz .
Which Best Years rates Justly along side of those films !! That movie was the Front Door for My generation, The Baby Boomers.
And Laura, One of the Best
Murder Mysteries of the 1940s . That also should be more than just 1 📀 dvd ! Beef it up ! Thank you. DB
