Performed by the Tallgrass Chamber Choir
Jacob Narverud, conductor
Measure me, sky!
Tell me I reach by a song
Nearer the stars;
I have been little so long.
Sky, be my depth,
Wind, be my width and my height,
World, my heart's span;
Loveliness, wings for my flight.
Horizon, reach out!
Catch at my hands, stretch me taut,
Rim of the world:
Widen my eyes by a thought. - Видеоклипы
Elaine Hagenberg and Jacob Narverud are my two favorite composers when it comes to choral music.

this is so real me too
If ever there was a sense of LIFTOFF, taking wing to breadth of sky, aerials of sonorous beauty, it's your music that swells and stirs the heart!

My son absolutely adores this song. He sang it last year in Honor's Choir. He is learning to play this on the piano by sight reading (he's never had lessons) because he doesn't have a track that he could listen to enough times to figure out the notes directly. I found your video and he's excited as he may get the "hard part" learned. He says this song (music) is heavenly.
True
I learnt this song last year in all state. I’ve adored this song ever since! This is the only song that’s made me cry in concert.
I watched this at all state. All I can say is all my makeup came off. Absolutely amazing pice of music.
I also watched this at All State in Yakima!! It was magical and I had multiple friends in the choir which made it even better. Some of us decided to form an octet to sing this at Solo & Ensemble contest next year.
Im doing this song as a tenor at my high school for our spring concert. By far my favorite i've ever done.
agreed
Same here, doing it for our fall concert!
I watched your premiere. I performed "By Night" in the TMEA High School Treble Choir this year, and since then I have looked up your other pieces. It's safe to say I fell in love with your music. Your style is so beautiful and your pieces have MEANING to them. It's my dream to become a music teacher, and I've been telling myself for a while that when it comes time to pick music for my kids to perform, yours will be the first I go to. Please never stop what you're doing. You have an amazing gift.
I sung this song with my choir this past spring! We even made a music video that's now on RUclips. I'm obssessed with it!
Beautiful!!!!!😍😍 My choir is doing this song this spring, and its wonderful!❤Thank you Elaine for writing such an extremely epic song!
Singing this at a concert this coming fall for an all state honor's choir along with 103 other hs students. It's such a great song for musically talented students and not to mention the message is beautiful. A true tear jerker.
We sang this for our spring concert and tour and it's my favorite piece I've ever performed now
You are so talented! This perfectly depicts the beautiful vastness of the sky, and our world. Thank you, and happy new year.
Hagenberg pulls heaven down out of the sky and wraps it around you like a big warm terrycloth bathrobe!
Woww...when i close my eyes and listen this song...i feel my soul and spirit lifted up...very shooting...calm and peace❤
There had never been another composer where all of their music took me to another universe emotionally ❤❤❤❤ THANK YOU ELAINE ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am absolutely obsessed with this piece!! I’m doing it as an Alto and I’m actually nailing all the runs! Definitely one of top favorites in all 11 years of choir I’ve done!
This Song took my breath away! Amazing performance. Looking forward to hearing more works from you!
I was a soprano 1 and even though this strains my voice alot it is still such a amazing piece
I am a soprano 1 and we are singing this at our concert this weekend it is vocally exhausting but I love it!!
Beautiful. All of your pieces bring me chills.
I saw people from high school preform this while at the Music Fest 2023 at Ruth Eckard Hall
Love this song because I did this for KMEA and now it’s an audition piece for district this year
I just sang this for All State Choir. My high schools chamber choir sang it this year, and I’m planning on forming an Octet and performing this song
You are a musical genius. I absolutely love this piece. It's beautifully written and wonderfully crafted. Thank you for making this amazing work of art.
Absolutely beautiful. I love the piano accompaniment and intricate harmonies.
This song is so stirring! Our choir , Richmond Choral Society, Staten Island, New York , will sing it as part of our Spring concert. Looking forward to it!
My choir is singing it this Fall! Bakersfield College Chamber Singers!
Danke Elaine! Sehr schön, wie alle deine Arbeiten. Ich bin ein großer Fan von dir, ich höre fast jeden Tag deine Musik. Möge dieses Jahr für Dich gesegnet sein!
My choir is doing this for our first competition. We all love Elaine Haggenburg and think this song is ethereal. Can't wait to perform it together.

after first performing By Night at ACDA nationals last year, singing O Love for community choir 2 years ago, and singing this piece now in that same community choir, I have been so inspired by your music and your arrangements. i would love to sing more of your pieces every year or to get a piece commissioned for one of my performances from you. You’re amazing, Elaine! Keep doing what you’re doing!
Thank you Elaine! Beautiful❤
Fantastic! I recently composed a 4-part SATB piece using one of Speyer's poems, Summer Sorrow! Her poetry hits my soul just right!
Our group is doing this song for KMEA this year and I can confidently say that it’s one of my favorites
Incredible
Singing this at UGA Choral Day next Tuesday
Are you the reason we got that email?
@@mrktchp8335 I literally came here to comment this
My senior grad piece :3
Does anyone know where I can find ONLY the soprano 1 part? I need to learn it for Districts.
I would check the website!
Or shouldn’t they provide the tracks with the music?
Lovely, as always
YES.
I sung at University of Georgia for a music institute my fave song
MIGHT BE THE PRETTIEST PIECE OF ALL TIME.

So beautiful. Glorious. But why are you speaking to the creation and not the creator?
Not everyone believes in any sort of God. She may be one of those people. That, and we are allowed to appreciate the creation itself without immediately talking about a creator. ❤
