Graphics cards have been getting larger and larger over the years... which means they've tended to sag more and more. It's a struggle many of us face. A sagging card can ruin the aesthetic of a rig - even potentially damage components in the long-run. This solution from Lian Li is the best I've found. It's effective and stealthy. Let me show you!

In the 1990s. The VESA Local Bus standard was implemented in PC motherboards of the time. It was a 16 bit ISA slot with an addition after the slot ended that was mechanically identical to the superseding PCI slot that came a few years later. Video cards for the standard were just as long as today's video cards but did not have any fancy heatsinks or crazy power requirements, but the standard was railed against for cards being too long, sagging and being difficult to install and uninstall with reports of people breaking their cards when installing.
If only they could see the monstrosities of today. PCI Express was released in 2004. It was not designed for this future.
PCI GPUs that came after VLB died were smaller and faster. We need to start shrinking GPUs.

JayzTwoCents has a different fix that realizes the fact that some cards have a weak mounting point at the back pci slot on the case, and simply providing a "bumper" to support that end of the card ends up supporting the card closer to level without buying anything. That is the current "fix" I'm using, but I do like the Lian Li bracket you're demonstrating.

  • @arcrypto22

This support really isn't supporting the weight of the card.. it's side loading the PCI-E slot and putting even more stress on the PCB. leverage is a thing. The first support you shown is an actual "BEST WAY" in comparison.

They are right, I just bought the newer gb 002 version and the card appear to be straight but over the last 2 days I've heard random creaking sounds from my pc although they are not frequent. I suppose with a longer and bigger card like mine, the fact that the small support arm is only at the side next to the motherboard is very slowly bending the card or damaging the pcie slot area. Support needs to be at the side of the card that's not facing the motherboard... I gotta look for some better gpu support thing again

It's a good idea, but as mentioned there might be some incompatibility issues depending on the motherboard. Personally I think the solution should come either from the board manufacturers (some already do provide this, I remember using an Asrock Z690 almost 2 years back that came with an anti-sag bracket) or the case manufacturers (used a pretty cheap Chieftec case recently in a build that had an anti-sag rail mounted system). That said, the dimensions of modern cards is overwhelming. Heck, my XFX RX6700 XT is 34 cm long...in a smaller case it wouldn't fit with a front-mounted AIO

I really like this solution. I’ve used it a number of times and there are other companies who have copied it. However, it does not work on all motherboards as one of the screws it used may be obscured by a heat sink cover. Also, depending on the GPU, you have to make sure the little support does not impinge on one of the fans. I rand into that with a couple of GPUs and had to stop using the bracket. You can get creative with it and move it to the far side of the motherboard over the SATA ports, but that may obscure a header or two depending on the layout of the motherboard. It’s also easier to install the foot with the case laying down.

Lian Li has a second version with a piece that slides. It's the GB-002 and I just ordered it earlier today. I was having the exact problem you described where the support arm on this GB-001 interfered with the fans on my GPU. I'm hoping since I can slide the arm over on the GB-002 that it won't interfere then.

I bought a GPU support that is a black metal tube that has another metal tube that screws up/down and rubber pads on top and bottom. You make it the right height, set the locking screw and put it anywhere under your card. It was $4.95 and puts the support directly under the least supported corner of the GPU. I just upgraded my 5700xt to a 6800xt and it took 10 seconds to readjust the height of the support.

Good video, interesting product ... but ... for my money, I prefer the extra stability given by supporting the card by the opposite (outer) corner, and the bracket-type solution also hides neatly the bottom part of the mobo along with any other add-in cards (IO,USB,WiFi, etc).
Good to have the option, though! Keep up the good work.

    • @GregSalazar
      @GregSalazar  11 месяцев назад +1

I prefer seeing the clean looks of motherboards underneath, along with capture cards, etc. I also wouldn't argue that brackets are "more stable." They're fastened to the PCIe slots - the same place the graphics card in question already is. This is why, as discussed in the video, some brackets need to be arranged slightly above horizontal to prop up beefier cards. IMO, this defeats the purpose of them entirely. For smaller/lighter cards, though, this shouldn't be an issue.

    • @sandornyemcsok4168
      @sandornyemcsok4168 11 месяцев назад +1

Yes, you are right. Mechanically (=based on the law of physics) the best point to support is the opposite (the free) corner. That's why I bought a stand. I have a non-transparent side panel, so I do not care about aesthetics.

Supports my MSI 4070Ti Suprim X just as well as the included stick stand, on an ASUS ROG Z790 Maximus Hero Dark in the same position you installed it and works just like the stick stand, maybe better since this one is actually mounted to the chassis. By all rights, the only way to really avoid any issues are to keep your rig laying down or vertical mount your card.

i have this lian li bracket and its been a god send. what i did was lay the pc on its back, line up the foot, get it into place and its solid. Only downside is that my motherboard and where i can secure it is right over the heatsink for my b550 so it doesnt get full clearance.

I got one of these brackets included when buying the Lian Li O11D Evo and i really like it a lot. Only thing is, my gpu wouldn click properly into the PCIe slot. I made a little bend on it where the PCB were colliding and it now works perfectly. I think the heatsinks on my mobo are a tiny bit too large but was an easy fix as the bracket bends easy enough. I'm doing a custom loop atm and with a 4 lbs/1850g waterblock on the GPU, this anti-sag bracket comes in VERY handy. I like this solution a lot better than those big "standing" brackets or the one you used as an example in the video. The Lian Li one works well and is super discreet.

I used this very kit with my 3080! I love that its hidden and not easily visible vs other solutions out there. Have used it for two plus years now. There is another version of this Lian Li anti sag bracket out there. Two different styles to try.

This is why I subscribe. I've used and recommend the EZ GPU bracket because it works in every case including mATX and ITX (NR200). But in these large cases, your option is a much cleaner way to go.

I've never looked into buying a anti sag bracket but when I upgrade my GPU I will look into getting this one. I'm not a fan of the anti sag brackets that sit on top of the PSU shroud and are visible. This bracket looks so clean, I'm going to add this video to my watch later list. I was unaware that sag can damage your GPU.

I just use a cheap $8.00 adjustable post that I got on Amazon. With that said though I think I'll give this a try. At worse, if it doesn't fit then I can just return it and go back to using the cheap post that already works great but isn't as aesthetically pleasing.
Update: I ended up buying the GB-001 which worked great for my ASUS TUF 3080 but I switched to an ASUS ProArt 4070 Ti recently and couldn't use the GB-001 bracket because the arm that pushes up on the GPU interfered with the middle fan and if i switched the position of the bracket to the far edge of the mobo the arm of the bracket would interfere with the third fan on my GPU. I just ordered the GB-002 in hopes that it will provide more adjustability and I can slide the arm in between the fans. Wish me luck it gets delivered tomorrow.

I had a support in my PC like the one that came with the graphic card? But there was a major difference. At the end you would attach a support that you line up, so that it will support the card properly. I think that is missing here, or he didn't used it as it wasn't attached prior mounting.
The Lian Li system is for sure not bad, but I stay with my 3D printed stand due to two reasons.
First, it doesn't look bad and properly supports the GPU.
Second, even though the system of Lian Li is minimizing the sagging of the card, it is still sagging to the front edge corner of the card as the holder just holds up the card directly at the motherboard. For sure it isn't as prominent as before, but it is still there as it holds the card up at the wrong side of the card.
So IMHO it is a good solution, but by far not the best as there is still some sagging left.
I think to make that holder "invisible" those holders you attach at the top of the case using a string is much better.

When I got my 5700xt a long time ago, I noticed it was sagging so I took some black Lego bricks and built a stand for the graphics card to rest on. What's nice is that the stand is just high enough that the cable in the front of the graphics card hides them.

I too installed this exact bracket. It fit my Asus prime x570 pro right side stand offs. Clearance was literally perfect over the sata ports. It’s propping up my Aorus 3070ti Master. One issue was, the L sliding foot was protruding out a little far and ended up in the way of my fan at full speed. Had to shave down the foot for fan clearance. Other than that, out of sight and it works. Nice recommendation

Oops reading one of those reviews, it said that their MB came with an alignment standoff in the middle. Mine I think also came with an alignment pin standoff but I have not built a system in several years so I did not realize that was what it was for (I thought it might be but was unsure), so I removed it and replaced it with a normal stand off and then used an additional MB screw for it. Hopefully this will not harm my system, as so far its working great. For my GPU I just used one of the little stands from Amazon that is adjustable since I do not move my PC around, it basically sits in one spot next to my desk. I used a black one so ya can't even really see it (as I have minimal RGB in my Build) unless your really looking for it and it was only about $9.

Fan size of the GPU also is a factor in mounting this, saw some reviews to where the rubber pad was touching some others GPU fans but you can just trim the rubber pad to fix that. Founders cards shouldn’t have this issues as the flow through fan is on top.

Awesomesauce Greg!! I saw this for my Lan Cool II Mesh. But the cheap person in me thought I could do it myself. LOL
That failed because the metal strip with holes didn't line up at both MB stand offs.
If I had really thought about it, I could have just taken flat stock, measured my holes, and drilled it myself.
Instead I bought a JONSBORO brace. Which is ALL METAL! and locked in well.
I have tried others in to hold up my son's 5700XT that were plastic, and sure it kinda worked. But if you needed to adjust, then you couldn't use that same spot again because the plastic was worn away.

I own 40s PNY xlr8 graphic card, and they give those antisag supports in box, rather than those bracket ones and I'm grateful they do so, its way better in terms of compatibility but still very effective and very easy to install, and clean looking ( i have inverted atx, motherboard so its was an epic safe from this little metal for me).

My Phanteks Eclipse P500 case came with an anti-sag bracket that bolts into the expansion slot supports at the back of the case. It doesn't have anything that directly touches the GPU shroud. I'm not sure how much support it can actually provide, but it seems to be doing a good job nearly 2 years in.

My AsRock Z790 Steel Legend came with essentially the same bracket (well, different design, but same concept). It was unnecessary until I got the RX7800XT. It was simple enough to install (once confirming the thread size for standoffs). Seems to be a perfect solution, if you give points for 'hiddenness'.
For $25...? Yeah, go to Home Depot/Lowe's/etc. and buy your own tiny brackets.

A simple solution from Lian Li, but I find it interesting that because it is easily visible, you notice the GPU sag. Have you ever considered the sag, or rather the pressure exerted on the motherboard by giant CPU air coolers? Just asking?
