Maybe you should read the anonymous opinion of the Supreme Court in 1988 that says that our president has the right to do whatever he wants with top secret and classified documents. But of course you were completely unaware of that ruling weren't you?
You've said it all, first of all it's "an anonymous OPINION" by the Supreme Court, which means it is not a RULE, and second it does not cover failed "former Presidents". We need to simply understand what we READ.

The 1988 SCOTUS case Navy v. Egan confirmed that the classification authority flows from the president except in specific instances. For example, not even the president can declassify the identity of spies or Nuclear Secrets
BTW - speaking of spies, do you think that the below news report from October 2021 is related in any way to the classified documents Trump took in January 2021?
