    Product Sourcing:
    When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Many suppliers are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
    Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding.
    Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review. There is no cost to you and in some cases discounts can be obtained via the link or via an included code.
    If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.

    I just finished 2 weeks in Thailand and i carried the bellroy lite sling (7l). Its more secure than pockets or backpack and access is excellent. I even had some Thai people ask me about the bag. Its big enough to carry a water bottle or a rainjacket. Mainly it allows you to carry all the incidentals, e.g. sunglasses, medication, hygiene, and anything you want secure that would be too much for pockets.

    Big fan of your videos and have bought quite a few of you recommendations. I’ve been tempted to record and upload some of my own edc videos… maybe in the new year. One thing I’d be interested in from you content wise…and this is an odd request… your back drop is wonderful, it’s lovely soft and warm tungsten and LED lighting makes a really nice cozy feel. I would love a video where you take us through the items in your shelves and their meaning to you and how they got their place up on the hallowed wall of fame. (I spot an R2D2, I’m also a Star Wars fan! 😊) thanks for all the videos this year. Time for me to settle into this one, should be a belter!

    My only problem with magnets in a wallet (and I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this problem but I definitely have), the magnet seems to disable hotel room keys so you have to go all the way back downstairs to get it sorted 😂 great for practicality but if you’re a frequent user of hotel keys and tend to keep them in your wallet for your stay then maybe not the best option!

      A fair point - if you have a card that 'swipes' using the Magnetic Strip on the card. Most though now use NFC which would be fine.

    I long for the day that merino wool is both affordable and significantly more durable. I've owned 3 merino wool t-shirts made by Ibex and Smartwool and none of them have lasted very long. They get holes very quickly. They were also extremely expensive. Amazing material, but way too expensive and weak. I keep hoping a company will come out with $25 merino wool t-shirts. Maybe some day! Until then, it's polyester for me.

    • @paulstanley8088

    😎 I feel sorry for all the bald merinos... But it's such a fabulous fabric. For any who think wool is itchy, think otherwise. This stuff breathes, lasts a long time, is natural and is everything that is claimed here. Sometimes the fabric may contain a bit of nylon or spandex and that's okay, but should be cheaper. 100 % is best. 🐑

    Like most of the top EDC channels these days, the gear shown in the video is way too expensive for most of us. I'm not arguing about the cost, if you can afford it. Then that's fine.
    There are fewer and fewer budget based videos being made. I'm not saying John doesn't do budget videos, he does, but there is definitely a disparity between budget and premium content.

    The Acebeam Terminator is anything, but compact! A normal flashlight with flood LEDs and LEP in the same lens is a much better solution. You can't even use the LEDs and LEP at the same time as with the Nitecore. What a farce!

    • @JonGadget
      @JonGadget  5 месяцев назад

      The Nitecore is much bigger, less powerful and more expensive with no LEP Zoom - so not that much of a farce. I'm not aware of any light that combines LED and LEP in the same lens.

    • @jasonkillsformomy
      @jasonkillsformomy 5 месяцев назад

      @@JonGadget The Nitecore isn't bigger it's just a bit longer because it's built like flashlight should be built so you can easily holster it and hold it your hand. The Acebeam is built like a brick that you can't holster or even ergonomically hold in your hand. I meant in the same head as you fully knew, but just wanted to troll. Mateminco FW3 and Lumintop Thor Pro both have LED and LEP in the same head as the Nitecore. There are probably others too, but just wanted to make a point that it's unnecessary to have two heads. You already gave it a positive review so there's no reason for you to defend it in the comments just because you got it for free.

    • @jasonkillsformomy
      @jasonkillsformomy 5 месяцев назад

      @@JonGadget And I have nothing against Acebeam. Most of the stuff they make are good and quality is better than Lumintop, Manker, Wuben, Rovyvon, Skillhunt, Sofirn, Thrunite, Wurkkos, Imalent and Emisar.

    I tried an unbound merino t shirt based on your recommendation. At first I’d loved it but after a few days it completely lost its shape and turned into some sort of blouse rather than a t shirt (the sleeves got really long and out of shape, and the neck area became super wide) which was extremely disappointing for me. I never had that issue with an equivalent icebreaker t shirt which I used for months without any issue. For the high price it seems really dissappointing tbh

      I also tried the merino t-shirt, but have had the opposite experience. I was so impressed that I know own 8 of these. Perhaps the difference is that I send mine to the dry cleaners with the rest of my shirts. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA and also wear wool tartan kilts every day as well. Even in our summer heat the t-shirts (and the kilts) are quite comfortable. I think if I were to wash these at home I would use the delicate cycle and low heat in the dryer. I have a merino wool base layer for winter hiking (yes, we do get snow in the mountains around here). Those are by SmartWool and I wash them at home (delicate/low heat) and have never had a problem. Just this morning it was ~40 F when I went for my walk at 5 am.
